Chapter 16 - Blink

Noctis woke up after destroying the girl, but when he woke up, the girl was not there. Noctis felt that he might have been set up to get robbed. He didn't care as there was nothing of value in his home. Noctis wants to feel that euphoria he felt, but he doesn't know where to go about it.

Noctis stood up from his bed, yawned, and saw himself drying in the restroom after his shower. Noctis was in disbelief that just a moment ago he was getting out of bed and now was ready.

Noctis opened the door a little too fast to scare him. After flinching, he saw himself at a bar surrounded by women. He immediately ran off, now extremely concerned about what was happening.

Noctis ran outside to see a carriage about to run him off. The next second he was in a bedroom with three different women; they were all lying around him. He only saw their hair: one had black hair, another one was red, and finally, blonde.

Noctis stood up, taking time to think about what was happening. He is absolutely petrified about what is happening; he goes to the restroom and sees a reflection of himself. He looks totally different; his hair is longer, and his face looks a lot more masculine. Noctis started to be scared of himself punching the mirror. His hand was now covered in blood; he put his clothes on and left, being extremely paranoid.

Noctis was paranoid about everything; after deciding to walk in a sketchy area, he felt a warmth in his back. Noctis felt weak only to look back and see a man very close to him. His eyes became filled with pure terror after realizing that he was stabbed.

"AHHH!!!" Noctis felt the pain after his realization that his body was being constantly stabbed by a hooded man.

Noctis opened his eyes to see that he was now in the same stand that he and Grandma always went to. Noctis immediately started to pat the area where he was stabbed, quickly running into the clothing area of the market.

Noctis started to scan the stores to enter one; they were all dull. He grabbed a black sweater, and without alerting anyone, he speed-walked to the dressing room and took out his shirt to see not a single scratch where he was stabbed. Noctis was at a breaking point, grabbed the sweater, went to the register, and bought it without even taking his change back. He ran out of the store.

Noctis, now covered in a black sweater to remain anonymous, couldn't shake the feeling that they were people-watching him and his every move. Noctis started to walk, feeling a little bit calmer after leaving the market; he heard a large crowd of people running in his direction.

Noctis started running to not be caught; his body felt like it was running very slowly. He knew that his body was better than this, but he was running in slow motion. Noctis could only look at the crowd now, less than a second behind him.

Noctis felt the whole crowd running over him. Feeling every pound that he was stomped, he couldn't produce a single sound due to his blown-out throat. Wanting the pain to end, he only lay there praying for his death.

Noctis, after feeling like his time was here, was now a child version of himself the same day he appeared. Now everything was dark. Noctis could only sit down, paralyzed, shaking with fear. The more he lay there, the more people started to laugh at him.

Noctis started to feel whole laughs targeting him. Everyone's face was hysterically laughing while pointing at him. Noctis could only run to somewhere where there was no one, yet the voices continued.

Faces started to appear all around Noctis' mind; the people he cared the most about were all laughing at them, pointing at him. He saw their faces become more and more distorted until they weren't even recognizable; their voices became deeper and deeper.

Noctis could only bash his head to feel a temporary relief from the voices in his head. The wall that he smashed his head on was now filled with the faces of Luna, Grandma, Principal Sullivan, and all of his friends laughing with their faces severely distorted.

Everything started to collapse on Noctis; the walls started to become hollow, the ground sucking him down. Noctis, while being sucked by the ground, started to raise his hand to escape. After the ground consumed Noctis, he was in another place.

Noctis' mind was one second away from collapsing; in another second, he would have gone insane. Noctis looked around the new place; the colors all looked vibrant, and the sun started to shine brighter than Noctis had ever seen in his life.

Noctis is very cautious about this place due to how everything else ends by destroying him; after staying on guard for ten minutes and feeling calm enough to let his guard down, he starts to realize how different everything is. Everything was the total opposite of his life; the people he cared about were beginning to appear again. Luna in his arms, sleeping with her luscious blonde hair leaning on his arm, Grandma preparing cookies for them. Noctis' mind was holding onto its sanity, leading him to believe that everything that was happening was the truth, his mind creating a delusion for him to live comfortably.

Noctis sees his grandma with the tray of her chocolate cookie tray; Noctis drops Luna to go and tries to hug Grandma. When he reaches her, she transforms into vapor. Noctis looked back to see that Luna was no longer there; everywhere he touched started to evaporate.

Noctis sees how this perfect world started to collapse in front of his eyes. Noctis feels his body falling into an infinite abyss. The drop felt like an eternity. Noctis suddenly feels the ground his body landed on the ground like a feather.

Noctis starts to see an empty white room, everything covered with white. Noctis starts to walk to see where it ends; the room is not very big; he can easily touch the walls in the room with only a few steps.

Noctis sits down; his sanity is only held by the strength of a piece of hay. Noctis starts to sit there for an indefinite amount of time; no thoughts are happening through his mind at this time. The more he stared at the white walls, the more his mind started to overthink the situation.

Noctis decides to stand up and starts to pace around the room until he hears something on the opposite side of his body.

Splash!

Drip, drip, drip

Noctis, feeling shivers down his spine, decides to look back to see a large sign written with wet ink reading, "Hello, Noctis." Noctis fell on his bottom to see his name written on a wall; the spatter of dark ink made it look like a death threat.
