As everyone stirred awake, we exited the dungeon and returned to the campsite. The sun was still high in the sky, but when they glanced at their phones, disbelief crossed their faces.
"How the hell is that possible?!" Issei blurted out, eyes wide as he stared at the screen. "We were in there for hours! It's only been twenty minutes?!"
I shrugged casually, a small smirk tugging at my lips. "Magic."
Koneko, standing beside me, shot me a look that clearly said she wasn't impressed. Her golden eyes narrowed slightly as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"Hey, smartass," she said with a hint of annoyance in her tone.
I turned my head toward her. "Yes?"
Without another word, she spun around and began walking toward the cabin. Her white tail swayed behind her as she moved. After a few steps, she glanced back over her shoulder.
"Follow me."
There was a firmness in her voice that made me curious. I obeyed without question, trailing behind her. The wooden floor of the cabin creaked faintly beneath our footsteps as we made our way toward her room. The air inside was cool, carrying a faint scent of lavender from the small diffuser sitting by the window.
When we entered her room, Koneko closed the door behind us with a soft click, then raised her hand, murmuring a few words under her breath. A faint shimmer of magic flickered in the air—a soundproof barrier. The soft hum of conversation outside faded instantly, leaving only the quiet breaths of the two of us.
She turned around, her expression unreadable, and pointed to the bed.
"Sit."
Instead of sitting, I laid back on her bed, resting my hands behind my head as I gazed up at her. The ceiling fan spun lazily overhead, stirring the air with a soft breeze. Koneko stood beside the bed, her eyes flickering with something I couldn't quite place. After a brief pause, she climbed onto the mattress, her movements slow and deliberate.
To my surprise, she straddled me, placing her hands on either side of my chest to steady herself. Her silver hair fell over her shoulders, framing her face as she looked down at me with a curious expression.
"Do you have any kinks?"
I nearly choked on my own breath, eyes widening as her words registered.
"W-What?" I stammered, looking away quickly, heat rising to my cheeks.
"You heard me." Koneko leaned in slightly, her amber eyes locking onto mine. "Do you have any kinks? You know… like BDSM. Kind of like Akeno."
Her bluntness made my heart skip a beat. I shifted beneath her, my hands fidgeting slightly against the blanket.
"Uh… I mean, I'm open to things," I muttered, avoiding her gaze.
"That's not an answer," she pressed, tilting her head with a faint smirk.
Her playful teasing made my face heat up even more. I squirmed a little, unsure how to respond. Her eyes then dropped to the bracelets I wore on my wrists and ankles. She leaned back slightly, curiosity flashing in her gaze.
"Wait… are those like the ones we had to wear during training?" she asked, reaching out to lightly tap the metal band encircling my wrist.
"Maybe," I replied vaguely, trying to dodge the question.
In my mind, Voltaris's voice echoed with a chuckle.
("I still can't believe they haven't noticed them yet.")
"How much do they weigh?" Koneko asked, her fingers tracing the cool metal.
I hesitated. "Uh… around four thousand," I admitted.
Her eyes widened slightly. "Hmm… I guess that's not too ba—"
"Each," I added before she could finish.
Her mouth dropped open slightly. "Each?!"
("I'm still surprised that wearing those actually helps you train,") Voltaris chimed in mentally.
Koneko sat back on my thighs, still straddling me as she processed that information. "Shiro, how long have you been wearing those?"
"Since we left the house."
She blinked in surprise. "But… how could you do all that damage with those on you?"
I shrugged, smirking slightly. "Simple. I'm strong. That's how."
Koneko shook her head, clearly trying to wrap her mind around it. "How strong are you, really?" she asked, tilting her head to the side as she studied me.
I chuckled softly, my eyes gleaming with mischief. "I'll tell you one day. When I max out."
She let out an exaggerated sigh. "Seriously, you play way too many games."
"Yep."
Without warning, she laid her head against my chest, her soft hair brushing against my chin as she snuggled closer. The warmth of her body seeped into mine, and I instinctively wrapped an arm around her, holding her gently. Her steady breathing slowed as she began to relax, her fingers lightly gripping the fabric of my shirt.
As the room settled into a comfortable silence, I closed my eyes, feeling the soft rise and fall of her chest against mine. The faint hum of the soundproof barrier faded into the background, leaving only the warmth of Koneko's presence against me.
Slowly, her breathing evened out as she drifted off to sleep. A faint smile tugged at my lips as I rested my chin lightly atop her head.
"Goodnight, my kitty," I whispered softly, closing my eyes as well.
….
After everyone had rested, I gathered the entire group outside. Today's training would be intense—everyone who had come with us to camp was participating. While Alucard would be responsible for training the others, I had my own challenge ahead: sparring with Frost.
Frost stood a few paces away from me, her piercing blue eyes gleaming with anticipation. Her silver hair, shimmering faintly with an icy sheen, flowed behind her as if responding to her energy. Despite her calm demeanor, I could sense the power radiating from her. She was more than ready.
"Are you ready, my student?" she asked, her lips curling into a confident smile.
I grinned back, rolling my shoulders to loosen up. "Ha! Bring it on."
"Very well," she replied with a nod.
In a flash, Frost closed the distance between us. Her speed was incredible—I barely had time to react as she threw a swift punch toward my chest. I leaped into the air just in time, her fist grazing the fabric of my shirt as I countered with an attack of my own.
"HELL FLARE!" I shouted, thrusting my hand forward.
