Rachel's POV
"Who invited you here?"
I didn't want to cause a scene, and I knew Victoria wanted otherwise, so I chose to ignore her.
"We don't want any trouble here. She came here with Mr. Reid," Jasmine answers, stepping in the way.
Victoria cuts her off with a slap, catching both of us off guard. "How dare you speak back at me? You lowlife," she spat.
Jasmine froze, clutching her cheek.
"You are nothing but a slut wanting to get her way with Andrew's uncle. I bet you are throwing yourself at him to get back at Andrew, but trust me, bitch, Andrew won't be bothered because he loves me and not you; none of your silly games will work. I mean, how disgusting and ill-mannered could you be? Going after Andrew's uncle? Are you that desperate?" She spat offensively.
Her words hit me like an arrow, feeling my heart quench in pain and anger began to surge within me.
"I think the slut here is you, Victoria; after all, I am not the homewrecker," I respond, trying to keep my cool down.
She raised her hand at me to land a slap, yet I held her back, restricting her, "Don't even think about it," I warned. "I won't have you insulting, talk less of raising your hand on me."
Victoria hissed in disbelief. "Oh, I'm shaking in my boots. You think you're so much better than me, don't you, Rachel? With your little church friends and your pathetic life? And you think your threats will scare me? Well Rachel, sorry to burst your bubble, you don't scare me one bit."
I turned away, trying to ignore her as a few people were already stealing glances. But Victoria wasn't having it. She poured a glass of juice all over my dress, staining it.
"You're just a pathetic little woman who can't even keep a husband," Victoria sneered.
That was it. I had had enough.
"How dare you," I said, my voice rising. "You have no right to talk to me like that. You're just a homewrecker who can't even keep a friend."
Victoria's face turned red with rage. "You're just jealous of me. You're jealous that I'm beautiful and successful, and you're just a pathetic little woman who can't satisfy her husband, or should I say, ex-husband? You have been nothing but a liability to Andrew, leeching off his money. Did you even love him? Huh? I bet it was just his wealth, and now that you've lost him, you are going after his uncle. You should be ashamed of yourself, Rachel."
My heart pounding with anger as her words echoed in my head. "I'm not jealous of you, Victoria. I'm just disgusted by you. And to hell with what you think; I don't care, I spat my voice beginning to crack.
The argument was starting to attract attention, and I could see people staring at us. But I didn't care. I was too angry.
And just like that, Victoria clutched on my hair, raining curses till she lost balance and fell, clutching her stomach and screaming.
Andrew and a few people walked to us.
"My baby!" Victoria wailed, and Andrew ran to her side. "She pushed me," Victoria accused, pointing fingers at me.
Andrew turned his glare at me. "Are you insane? What is the matter with you? Who even invited you?" Andrew spat in anger.
I didn't push her; yet all eyes were on me, as though I was the villain here.
"Who is she? And what is she doing here?" An aged woman questioned displeasingly.
Then Andrews's mum appeared. "Rachel? What are you doing here?" She fires.
"I was wondering and thought to ask her, but then she started throwing dirty words at me, and then when I told her I was pregnant, she got angry and jealous and then pushed me," Victoria informs, bursting into a new form of crocodile tears.
"Are you crazy? Do you want to kill my grandchild? Who invited a church rat here?" Andrew's mom mocks.
Just as it seemed like things were about to get out of hand, Darius appeared out of nowhere and grabbed my arm.
"I did; she's with me." He said his words firmly.
"Darius, who is she?" The aged woman asked inquisitively.
He looked at me for a second, slipping his hands to my waist protectively before facing the crowd. "She's my girlfriend, and the woman I plan to marry," he drops.
I shriek, my eyes widening in shock as I looked up at him with my tear-filled eyes.
The crowd went quiet.
"What? Uncle, I thought she was your assistant?" Andrew questions getting up with Victoria in his hands.
"Yes, she is. Rachel and I have been together for a while, and we chose to keep things low till we were both ready, but then there is no point hiding now; she's my woman," Darius announces.
I lost my voice; I couldn't even protest. I didn't know what he was talking about or why he was lying about us.
What is the matter with him?
"Really?" The aged woman asked.
He nods, placing a kiss on my forehead, "Yes, Grandma, we apologize you are finding out like this, right?"
I blinked my eyes, choosing to nod as I couldn't find my words.
"And if anyone has a problem with her, then he or she has to go through me. I invited her; she's my date." Darius warns directing it to Andrew and Victoria.
"Rachel, let's go," he said, his voice firm.
I hesitated for a moment, but then I let him lead me away from the scene.
As we walked away, I could hear Victoria's voice behind us. "This isn't over, Rachel. You just wait and see."
I didn't respond. I just kept walking, my heart still pounding with anger and shock.
When we were safely away from the crowd, Darius turned to me and asked, "Are you okay?"
I took a deep breath and nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine. But what was that? Why did you lie about us?." I couldn't help but ask.
"We'll talk about it later."
