Rachel's POV
We walked back into the house, Darius was still not convinced of the fact my conversation with his grandmother went smoothly but I had already burdened him enough.
He didn't need to know how it went.
Grandma's hurtful words still rang in my head like a broken record. I needed a drink of water to calm myself down.
"Excuse me" I muttered.
Darius held my wrist halting my steps, "Where are you going?"
"I need to grab some water, I am but thirsty," I say.
He narrowed his stare at me before nodding and letting me go.
I headed to the kitchen, hoping to find some peace and quiet and away from the chaotic drama that had happened since my arrival here.
As I was getting a cup of water from the fridge, I heard the door open behind me. I turned around, and my heart sank. It was Andrew.
I tried to pretend I didn't see him, hoping he would just leave me alone. But he didn't. He walked right up to me, a sneer on his face.
"Rachel, you're a real piece of work," he said, his voice dripping with venom. "A cheat, a slut, a gold digger. You're going after my uncle for his money, aren't you? I know what you are doing. I can't believe I ever loved you Rach" he spat.
I snatched my hand away, "You never loved me Andrew because if you did you won't have cheated on me with my fucking best friend" I fired back defensively.
He hissed, "Cut the crap Victoria is better than you in every way. She has everything a man would need and you? All these years I was so stupid and blinded by the fact that—"
I cut him off, "Don't fucking give me that Andrew! You lying bastard"
And he hit me, a sharp slap landing on my left cheek.
"Shut the fuck up and listen you Slut! End whatever crap that is between you and Uncle, or I swear to you, you won't like what I'll do to you" he threatens.
I felt my heart clench the stinging pain on my left cheek growing. How dare he? He was the one who had cheated on me, who had broken my heart and he was trying to turn the tables?
"How dare you," I said, my voice shaking with hurt and anger my hand still on my cheek as tears accumulated at the brim of my eyes. "You're one to talk, Andrew. You're the one who cheated on me, who broke my heart… you ruined everything we built together and just cause I am with your uncle—-."
Andrew sneered at me cutting me off "You're just mad because I moved on," he said. "You're just mad because I found someone better than you and you want to use my uncle and get to me? Cut the crap, Rach, I am the only man that your heart beats for or so I thought… the only man that tolerated you for years without complaining for once, I was made for you Rachel, my uncle can never give you what I have given you."
I felt a wave of hurt and anger wash over me each word of his is venomous. How could he be so cruel?
"You're disgusting, Andrew," I said, my voice cold. "You're disgusting and cruel and heartless. And sooner or later you will come to realize that I am the reason behind your success and wealth"
Andrew laughed humorously. "Am I a joke to you or what?" he said. "What could a poor worthless woman offer me? Everything I own and earn is because of my hard work and not you. All you've done is leech off, aside from that, nothing."
The urge to ruin him only burned in my veins. I wanted so badly to have him kneel before me seeking mercy but not yet… I need to get over with whatever mission Dad has put me to.
Additionally, I am marrying Darius, it wasn't in the plan but as of now, who cares about any plans?
Vengeance surged within me. If only he knows what damage he is calling upon himself.
He won't be so confident
I blink back my tears getting a hold of myself, I was done being weak before him. "I'm not jealous of you, Andrew," I said, my voice cold. "I'm just glad to be rid of you and I am certain you can never give me what Darius is willing to give me"
Andrew's face turned red with anger. "You're going to regret saying that," he said. "You're going to regret ever hooking up with my uncle, I will make sure you return to the slumps where you belong."
I shrugged feigning confidence even though deep down his words had pierced my heart,
looking him straight in the eye. "I'm not afraid of you, Andrew," I said. "I'm not afraid of you or your threats, do as you wish but just be careful not all that sparkle is gold"
Before he could respond the door slipped open Darius walked in, I didn't miss the way his jawline hardened.
Andrew looked between us, his eyes twisting in anger before he turned and stormed out of the kitchen.
I turned away from Darius's stare, hoping Andrew didn't leave a bruise on my cheek, but who was I kidding? Of course, he did.
"Rachel"
I feel Darius's hand on my shoulder, forcing me to face him, his eyes widening as I turn.
He reached for my cheek, and I stepped back.
"Fuck!" He hissed in frustration.
He turned to leave, and I held him back. "Please, I want to go home… let's just go."
He narrowed his stare at me like I had completely lost it, "He—"
I cut him off, "Darius, please, I am okay."
"Rach—"
"Just take me home," I declared, walking away.
It's been a long night.
