In a peaceful neighborhood in L

New york, there lived a happy family of three in a warm loving cottage. It was once a happy family of four but their story didn't have a happy ending because the father of the house decided to leave them for his mistress and since then Grace had to wake up early to take care of her children needs and find a way to take care of all her children demands, she finalised a divorce and then she was free and so her children decided to take their mom's name. As years went by, Grace's health starts to deteriorate and she wasn't able to do all the work. And the alimony wasn't enough for their needs and thus it was upto the older sibling to make decisions.

One Monday evening, Emily was thinking hard by herself for the decision she had made to help her family as she was walking to her house and something sparkling on the ground caught her eyes and she picks it up and to her amazement it was a beautiful shining heart shaped diamond heart necklace and she looks around and puts it in her pocket and decides not to tell her family yet for safety reasons.

As she entered her house, tears formed in her eyes as she thought of the decision she has made. A dimly lit bedroom in a cozy bed, Grace is there laying on it with her eyes half opened Emily entered with her eyes low

Emily: ( nervous) mom, can we talk for a minute?

Grace: ( looking pale but forcing a smile) yes honey

Emily: ( looking at her mom) Mom, things are not getting better here at home and your health also keeps getting bad, Kylee needs things for her school and she's still young

Grace: Yes, I know dear

Emily: So I have been thinking maybe I should quit sch-

Grace: No! Don't ever say that

Emily: But mom someone has to take care of this family

Grace: Yes but it doesn't mean you can just end your education

Emily: Mom, I am not ending my education it's just for sometime until you get better

Grace: Huh! Are you sure about this??

Emily: ( takes her hand gently as tears for) yes mom

Grace: OK but promise me you won't let your dreams go

Emily: I promise you mom

Grace: Then come give your mama a hug

After sharing a heart warming hug

Grace: I don't feel good about this

Emily: Don't worry mom! Your daughter won't let you down

Grace: Okay I trust you

After Kylee came home, I told her about my decision and she acted just like mom but for her it took hours for me to convince her and she agreed but not whole heartily.

The next day after school, I called my best friend Mary she is more like a sister and she knows our condition at home so we went in the park and I told her about my decision

Mary: Are you nuts?? What has gotten into you emz

Emily: it's for my family

Mary: what?! And what did auntie say about this?

Emily: she agreed

Mary: ( she stood up, holds my shoulder and starts shaking me) what is wrong with you? What happened to doctor Emily?? Huh?! Do you know what your saying?

Emily: I know... I know what I am saying Mary

Mary: Oh Lord! You are finally going crazy

Emily: Mary please trust me I really need your trust and your support please I understand what I'm doing is very scary and I'm taking a very big risk but please trust me

Mary: ( she looks at her teary eyes and cups her cheeks) okay... Okay don't cry.. Tell me what do you want me to do?

Emily: can you please help me find a job?

Mary: okay okay I'll try

Emily: Anything will do

Mary: okay

And she gave me a warm hug

Mary: my poor baby!

Then Mary takes her home and Mary cleans the house and prepares dinner for her family, thinking about how her life will take turn.
