On Friday evening, Mary called me in the same park we met the last time.
Mary: Okay, I got a job but you still have to go for an interview
Emily: Interview???
Mary: Yeah
Emily: Mary, you know I haven't graduated yet so how am I going to pass the interview??
Mary: It's not a formal job. It's just.... you work as a maid... In a mansion
Emily: Maid?? Mansion??
Mary: Yes! It pays really well...
Emily: Mary, thank you but no offense how... How did you get me a job in a mansion??
Mary: None taken.. So you remember my aunt?? The one who knows everyone??
Emily: The one who hosts grand parties?? Of course I do.
Mary: When I went to visit her house, she had mentioned that one of her associates is looking for a maid and so I got you registered.
Emily: Alright. So when is it?
Mary: Tomorrow morning. Auntie is gonna take you there.
Emily: Okay.. Thank you so much
Mary: Don't worry! Remember no thank you in our friendship
And they laughed it off
AFTER THE INTERVIEW:
The interviewer told us to wait for the results and it took them 10 minutes and luckily I was choosen. I was so happy until they told me I had to live in the mansion and the work starts on Monday. If I live in this mansion, who will take care of my mom and young sister?? Should I not take this job? But I will find a way, let me see. As I was thinking I got a call from Kylee, she told me my mom was admitted in the hospital and she's going under operation right now. I felt like my world has dropped from my hands. I was freaking out, mom was absolutely okay when I left her today morning so how did this happen? Has she been drinking her medicine right?? I have to leave from here ASAP but I didn't know how to leave from here but Mary's aunt saw the dark cloud on my face, she asked if I was okay I told her about mom and then I asked Mary's aunt to take me to the hospital X Immediately. And she was kind enough to do that. As I reached in the hospital, aunt got an urgent call so she had to leave but before that she came to meet my young sister and she left. My young sister was a crying mess, I had to comfort her but then the bill came and we had no enough money
Kylee: What will ( sniff) happen to..
Emily: K, nothing absolutely nothing will happen to mom okay trust me
Kylee: But we have no money
Emily: Leave that to me
As I sat there, suddenly I remembered the necklace I picked maybe if I go and check if it's real I can get money to pay for mom's medical bills. So I called Mary to come and remain here with Kylee and I left. I went to find the necklace, sold it, got the money and rushed to pay mom's medication. And that money made Kylee and Mary ask me a lot of questions. But mom's health is more important.
Kylee: Come on sis tell us
Mary: Yeah, we have every right to know
Emily: Wait, one day I promise I will tell you guys but for now. Don't ask any question
Kylee: Urgh! Fine
Emily:... And you guys umm.. I think I shouldn't go to work until mom is okay
Mary: You think
Kylee: Don't go at all, just let us study sis
Emily: And who will take care of the family?
There was silence until the doctor came to tell us that we can now see mom. She was lying on the bed unconscious, we went there and I had to fight a huge urge not to cry. This is all because of dad if he didn't leave us maybe.... Maybe things wouldn't be bad as it is now... Maybe.. Maybe..
Doctor: Hmm.. Ms. Emily.. Can I talk to you?
Emily: sure doctor
We went to his office
Doctor: Your her older child right??
Emily: Yes, any problem?
Doctor: no, nothing immediate. I just want you to understand the recovery process and and what to expect later
Emily: that's good
Doctor: your mom will recover in a few hours and she will to another room, she'll be a little groggy and we'll need to be close to her in case of any complications.
Emily:okay, how long will she be in the hospital??
Doctor: for at least 3days for observation you know for any changes
Emily: oh okay. Thank you so much doctor it really meant a lot, thank you
Doctor: no problem and I know you have already paid so don't worry
Emily: thank you
Doctor : you're welcome
As I went out, I thought the money will be enough for mom and young sister for the whole month and all there needs and it'll be over someday... Huh! Let me just go to work. I am pretty sure it may help us someday. The good thing is that we get to go home... I haven't told them about saying there. Lord, I really need your help. And then I went inside where Kylee and Mary were with mom.
