Celeste took a deep breath, her frost-covered blade shining as she stepped forward. The serpent's glowing yellow eyes locked onto her, its movements slowing because of the ice left behind from her last attack. Frost spread under her feet, and in an instant, she disappeared.
Aurelia raised an eyebrow, impressed. "Flash step, huh?"
Celeste re-emerged near the serpent's side. She was focusing her sword on the vulnerable soft spot between its scales and thrust it in. However, the serpent's hide was too tough and wouldn't let the blade in as deep as Celeste had hoped.
Celeste's silver eyes flashed with determination. "Not good enough?" She poured more frost magic into her sword. The icy energy surged and spread, freezing the serpent's scales and making its flesh brittle.
With a sharp swing, she shattered the frozen section, bits of the serpent's hide cracking away.
