The place the teleportation circle brought them to had a void for a sky.
Everyone stood above a huge circular platform that hovered over the nothingness. Its sheer size seemed capable of accommodating four adult dragons. At its center was a black brazier blazing with blue and purple flames.
"This is the Void," Lanling whispered next to Haruki. Though his voice was clearly soft, Haruki could hear him as if he were speaking normally in both ears. "A dimension in-between all the realms where you could meet the Judges—like crossroads."
Haruki followed closely behind Lanling as they moved with the stream of people coming through the teleportation circles—there were three of them, each operated by mages to ensure there would be no accidents.
