MATED TO MY ALPHA MATE

Diva woke up to the faint sound of her phone vibrating on the nightstand. She groaned, reaching for it blindly. The screen glowed with an unfamiliar number, and for a moment, she hesitated. Most people she knew would text first before calling.

She slid her finger across the screen and brought the phone to her ear. "Hello?"

For a second, there was nothing but static. Then, a voice she didn't recognize broke through.

"Diva Crest, you're being watched."

Her breath caught. "Who is this?" she demanded, sitting up abruptly.

The line went dead.

Her heart raced as she stared at the phone. She quickly checked her call log, but the number was already gone, as if it had never existed.

Jason knocked on her door. "Diva? You good? I heard you talking."

She debated telling him but shook her head. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a wrong number," she lied, trying to keep her voice steady.

Jason didn't seem convinced but didn't push. "Alright. Breakfast is ready."

As soon as he left, Diva swung her legs over the edge of the bed. She couldn't ignore this. The car, the feeling of being followed, and now this call—it was too much to be a coincidence.

She got dressed quickly, throwing on a hoodie and sneakers, and grabbed her bag. Her mind was racing, but she tried to keep calm. If someone was watching her, she needed to find out who and why.

By the time she reached the park, her usual place to think, Mikael was already there. She hadn't called him, but somehow, he always seemed to know when she needed him.

"You look like you've seen a ghost," he said, handing her a coffee.

She sat down next to him, her hands trembling as she took the cup. "I got a call this morning. Someone said I'm being watched."

Mikael's expression darkened. "What? Did you recognize the voice?"

"No," she said, shaking her head. "And when I tried to check the number, it was gone."

He rubbed the back of his neck, clearly troubled. "This is getting serious, Diva. You need to go to the police."

"And say what?" she snapped. "That I feel like someone's following me and I got a creepy phone call? They'll think I'm crazy."

"They won't if you show them a pattern," Mikael insisted. "We'll start documenting everything—calls, cars, whatever happens. If it escalates, we'll have proof."

Diva hesitated, but his logic made sense. "Fine," she said finally.

They sat in silence for a while, the usual bustle of the park feeling distant.

Then Mikael spoke again, his voice low. "There's something I haven't told you."

Diva turned to him, her heart sinking. "What is it?"

"Last night, I got a call too. Same kind of thing—static, then a voice saying I should stay away from you."

Her blood ran cold. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't want to freak you out," he admitted. "But now, I think we're in the middle of something bigger than we realize."

Before Diva could respond, her phone buzzed again. She glanced at the screen, her stomach flipping. It was another unknown number.

"Should I answer it?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Mikael nodded. "Put it on speaker."

She did as he said, her hand shaking.

"Diva Crest," the voice said again. It was calm, almost too calm. "You're running out of time."

"What do you want?" she demanded, her voice breaking.

"Look under the bench," the voice instructed, and then the line went dead again.

Diva and Mikael exchanged a terrified glance before both of them dropped to their knees. Underneath the bench was a small black envelope, sealed with a wax stamp.

Mikael reached for it, but Diva stopped him. "Wait. What if it's dangerous?"

"I'll take the risk," he said firmly, pulling the envelope out.

He broke the seal carefully and unfolded the letter inside. His face paled as he read the words aloud:

"Your truth is closer than you think. But if you dig too deep, it might just bury you."

They stared at the letter, the weight of the words sinking in.

"What does that even mean?" Diva whispered.

"I don't know," Mikael said, his voice grim. "But it sounds like a warning."

As they sat there, trying to make sense of everything, Diva couldn't shake the feeling that the answers were closer than she realized—just as the letter said.

But at what cost?

"But she couldn't shake the feeling that finding the answers might come at a cost she wasn't ready to pay."
