Eve looked down in silence, while Carlo was still faithfully standing not far from the woman. His arms were still crossed over his chest. Those knife-sharp eyes seemed to be waiting patiently for what would come out of Eve's mouth.
Eve slowly exhaled her breath softly, but it sounded agitated and worried. Carlo could even guess with certainty from Eve's gestures of biting her lips and squeezing her fingers together. "I can't say it." There was both doubt and fear in Eve's voice. Her lips were pressed tightly together, as if her words stopped there.
Carlo's brow furrowed, of course it was not the answer he wanted. His body that was leaning against the wall suddenly moved. Eve knew very well that Carlo was approaching her. "I said I don't know." Eve said it again. This time she dared to look at Carlo's face. Carlo's footsteps immediately stopped, as Eve's face looked panicked and pale.
