Mirelle and I were surrounded by 7 men with sharp and cold weapons, embarrassed by their leader being defeated by a single punch, and being laughed at by a child. They looked very much angry and were truly out for blood, they were eyeing me quite a bit for giggling.
The men were all in stances, just like we were. Nobody was moving, and nobody from the bystanders were moving. Silence filled the area, with increasing tension. One of the 7 men who were surrounding us, dashed towards Mirelle with both of his hands on his two daggers, readying them to stab Mirelle who had not still moved.
In the moment, where the two were a few inches away, Mirelle swiftly ducked down, raising her hand holding her katana at the same time and quickly slamming the hilt of the katana at the neck of the man who was just passed by her with incredible accuracy and speed. The man immediately let out a groan and hit the ground unconscious, seeing this the rest of the men decided to rush Mirelle.
Four of the men from the six, were now dashing and attacking Mirelle relentlessly, while the last two were left for me. They were severely underestimating me, but I honestly didn't mind I wasn't really confident in fighting physically like Mirelle, and this is my first fight against another person. However, I'm already in a stance and ready to fight.
With the compacted Bo staff in my hand, I released some mana into the staff, making the staff decompact and unfold itself in front of the two puzzled and confused men, they must have thought I would fight with magic, they were not expecting this scene unfold, where the mage was willing to fight in close proximity, and abandon their magic. However, that was far from it. I didn't abandon magic, as a physical boost spell was already activated and I was reinforcing my body with mana along with my Bo Staff.
The men smirked at the sight of a child mage engaging in a physical fight with sword users. One of the men had a long sword, while the other had a short sword and a round metal shield on his wrist. They were continuing to look down on me, but I ignored their smirks and gazes as I swiftly leaped towards the man with the round metal shield, swinging the Bo staff around me into the shield of the man.
Surprised, the man with the round shield immediately reacted and blocked the swing of the Bo staff, which further surprised the man, as a loud *bang reverberated from the impact, which had also pushed the man quite a few steps back. The man had a confused look on his face, as the hand that held the round shield kept shaking. He was most likely wondering how such a flimsy looking weapon feel so heavy, and why I was quite fast.
The Bo staff isn't just any ordinary metallic compacted staff, I had tinkered with most of my equipment and weapons, including the one in my hand right now, which now had a magical function of being incredibly heavy, while lightweight to the user, which only used to be sturdy and could be magically be compacted into an easy to carry and attached to my waist.
The other man with the long sword spoke up with an angry voice towards the man with the round shield.
"What are you doing, getting pushed back by a little girl?!"
With the man heard what his friend had to say, he showed an irritated look on his face, as he angrily replied back while trying to recover from the impact and being pushed back.
"What do you mean, 'What am i doing?' didn't you see that the girl's staff is enhanced, or are you just that stupid?!"
Not giving the man with the round shield a chance to recover, I swiftly approached the other man with the long sword, holding the Bo staff in one hand and trying to sweep the man's feet, but quickly stopping and swinging the Bo staff upwards. Hitting the hilt of the long sword, making the man drop his weapon on the ground, I immediately followed by swinging my staff to hit the man with the round shield, who was now quickly approaching me from behind.
Seeing my attack, the man with the round shield immediately ducked and continued to press forward, when he was near me, I slam the staff towards the ground and used both the momentum of the swing and impact to push myself to the side, just as the man with the round shield thrusted his short sword where I just stood earlier.
The man with the long sword, quickly went to get the sword I had made him drop; however, he couldn't find it. To his surprise, he couldn't find it where it had been dropped until he saw it from a distance by the wall of the training grounds. With a look of realization, the man turned to look towards me, and he could see that I wasn't breaking a sweat at all.
I had used the earlier impact from the ground to dodge the man with the round shield's attack, and I had used the force that came out of the impact to push the long sword out of the area we were fighting in. When I came down, I ran to the side and attacked the man with the round shield, and I jump back a few steps before swiftly leaping into towards the man with the short sword, spinning the Bo staff in my hand, followed by a swift thrust of the Bo staff into the man's chest.
He couldn't defend against my relentless attacks, which resulted in him eventually getting hit in the best and getting pushed back. I immediately followed by pulling the staff back and thrusting it backwards with incredible speed, and hearing a groan behind me, a clang of a sword falling to the ground.
I turned back to see the man with the long sword on the ground clutching his tummy, I had thrusted the staff into his tummy, making him and his weapon drop to the ground. Not wanting the man to recover, I swung the staff towards the back of his head, a bang could be heard as the man who was just clutching his tummy was now unconscious just like the other man.
Turning to look towards Mirelle, a group of man laid on the ground unconscious, as the last man was trembling with his sword held up. Seeing that all his friends were down and unconscious, he let go of his sword and dropped to the ground on his knees. "I give up...." the last man said solemnly, as he looked on the ground, surprised by the sudden outcome of the fight.
They were definitely not expecting Mirelle to have been stronger than they had expected, and they didn't expect me to know how to fight with physical weapons. Thinking that we were easy prey, they severely underestimated us which ultimately made them lose the fight.
Many footsteps could be heard coming from the Adventurers Guild's main building, the door to connecting the training grounds back into the Adventurers Guild swung open with incredible speed as an old man came out, followed by Miss Syl and a little girl with red hair and a sword twice her size attached to her back, and another young man who was out of breath. They walked towards the area we just had a fight.
The man who walked out first wore a black robe with metallic armor peeking out of the slits of his black robe, by his waist was a long sword. He surveyed the training grounds, eyeing the pool on the floor, pausing for a moment on the man who had first blocked our path, and finally stopping at Mirelle and I, who were standing calmly being surrounded by unconscious grown man, before turning to look towards the man who was out of breath.
"Dustin, the fight is already over." said the old man with the black robe.
Finally catching his breath, the young man took one last breath before lifting his head and looking around to see all the grown man unconscious on the ground, the young man baffled by the sight kept looking at Mirelle and I and then the unconscious men, before turning to the old man to say. "It would seem so, Sir."
The young man, immediately approached us and kneeled with one knee to be on our eye level. "Girls, are you alright, did you fight against these group of men, did you defeat all of them?" The man bombarded us with questions, his face getting slowly closer.
"Dustin, you're overwhelming the little ones." said the little girl with the big great sword behind her. She walked towards us, as she turned to looked at Mirelle and I, and then turning to look at the other people on the training ground. "Can someone explain what the hell happened here?"
Silence filled the training grounds again, as one of the people in the training grounds raised their hands up. "I can explain what happened, Guild Master." said by a girl mage Mirelle had sparred earlier. What caught my attention wasn't why it wasn't us, who was asked first but the fact that the little girl was the Guild Master.
She's the Guild Master, I thought she was our age, given her height was similar to Mirelle. I thought to myself, as visible confusion appeared on my face, followed by shocked and further confusion as to why the Guild Master, the highest position in the Adventurers Guild here right now.
"Celeste, she doesn't look like the Guild Master, doesn't she?" Miss Syl had approached us, giggling at my confused face. "fufu~, don't worry. The Guild Master just happened to be there, when the fight was reported by Dustin." she explained how the Guild Master was here, and who had reported our fight with these men.
"Thank you, Miss Syl.", I bowed, showing my gratitude to Miss Syl for explaining. "Guild Master, these men are the notorious group of Adventurers, who've been harassing newcomers into joining their little group." said the old man to the Guild Master who was listening to the mage girl who was still explaining. "There's also suspicion of them robbing the newcomers of their equipment, selling Adventurers to traffickers, and many more that are still under investigation." the old man added
