Chapter 35 - Chapter 34: A Meeting of a Witch, and A Living Legend Pt.2

The Old man had the unconscious men on the ground carried out of the training grounds into the Adventurers Guild building, one by one the men on the ground was being taken away, when they were all taken away. The Old man approached Mirelle and I, the old man stood still right in front of us, not saying another word as he continued to look at us, up and down.

However, it didn't feel like how the earlier men were looking at Mirelle and me, it was more so, a gaze that was assessing as both. After being silent for quite a bit, the old man let out a tired sigh. "You two aren't in trouble, Dustin saw the whole thing, no need to explain. However, I wasn't expecting for you two to defeat every single one of them." explained the old man, as he voiced his curiosity towards our earlier fight.

"Is that so..." I responded to the old man, and he responded back to me. "Yes."

Looking around us, most of the adventurers in the training grounds where already back to doing their own business, while some were still left talking with the little Guild Master. Miss Syl had been besides the Guild Master after chatting with us for a bit, and Dustin was besides the old man, who had just talked to us. "Mister, are we allowed to leave at any time?" I asked the old man who stood beside Mirelle and me.

"Not yet, the Guild Master has something to talked to you about." he continued to look towards the guild master who had just finished talking with the adventurers' complaints and what had happened earlier. As the Guild Master was approaching us, she spoke. "Garrick, have your man investigate those pesky adventurers thoroughly, and gather as much evidence as you can before doing anything else." she said, as she paused for a moment before turning to look at me and Mirelle.

"I'm Rina Halford, the Guild Master of this Adventurers Guild, you already met Syl." The Guild Master introduced herself to us, as well as the people with her. "The old man beside you, is Garrick Veldoran and Dustin who works under him." she added. In response, I introduced Mirelle and I to the Guild Master and the others who were present.

"This is Mirelle Luneth, my companion." pointing my arm towards Mirelle. "Hi, I'm Mirelle~!" Mirelle said enthusiastically with one of her arms raised up, as she greeted everyone present. "and I'm Celeste Luneth." placing my hand on my chest. "It is nice to meet you all." I greeted them as politely as I could.

"Nice to meet you too, Miss Celeste." said the Guild Master, Mister Garrick smiled a little as he nodded to the introduction. "It's nice to meet you too, I'm sorry for bombarding you with questions earlier." said Dustin, kneeling on one knee again, making sure we were on the same eye level.

"Guild Master, we will be returning now." said Mister Garrick, as he patted Dustin on the shoulder. "Okay, thank you for your time, Garrick." the Guild Master said in response to Mister Garrick's farewell. "I'll give you the report in a weeks' time." said Garrick to the Guild Master, without turning back to look, the Guild Master simply nodded in agreement.

"Shall we talk in my office for now?" said the Guild Master as she turned around to look at the Adventurers Guild's building.

I nodded to the Guild Master's request, and she responded with a small smile as she started to walk with Miss Syl back into the guild building, and we followed suit.

I was wondering what it was that the guild master needed to talk about, if I wasn't in any trouble according to Mister Garrick, as far as I could remember, I had done nothing wrong. I had only defended myself from the trouble seeking adventurers, and we've been completing the quest as we went into the guild's library. I kept wondering about what it was that the guild master wanted to talk about.

Just as I kept thinking this to myself, the guild master's voice rang out. "We're here why don't you two take a seat for now." said the guild master, pointing to the sofas in front of us. "Sit down for now, girls." Miss syl said, as she did something in the corner.

With nothing do to, I complied with their request as I sat in the sofa with Mirelle beside me... after a few minutes of room in complete silence, and the guild master busy writing stuff on her desk, Miss Syl approached us with a tray of teacups. "Rina, the tea is ready, why don't you talk to the girls already." Miss Syl said to the Guild Master playfully.

The guild master lifted her head to see that the table was already set. Seeing this, she stood up from her desk and came to sit on the sofa opposite of us with Miss Syl sitting beside her. Taking the porcelain cup on the table to her lips, the guild master elegantly took a few sips before she spoke to us.

"Miss Celeste, you're not in any sorts of trouble." said the guild master. "But you're probably wondering as to why you were brought to the guild master's office, right?" the guild master added, as she placed the porcelain cup back on the table. "Yes, why did Guild Master bring us to her office?" I inquired the guild master for her reasoning.

The guild master took a sip from the porcelain cup before responding to my question. "For the past week, you two have been gaining quite the popularity and fame." the guild master explained, putting the porcelain cup back on the table, and placing both of her hands on her lap as she crosses her legs. "Mirelle's sparring with other adventurers has raised the skills of these adventurers, improving their quest completion rate, as well as their survival rate."

She continued to explain. "And you, celeste, have been coming and going to the library has inspired curiosity in new adventurers to stack up on their knowledge about monsters, and thanks to you constantly healing the people on the training grounds, that we have seen many more adventurers taking on requests, using the training grounds, and far less deaths."

Explaining all this, the guild master lean back into the sofa and added more. "Thanks to your daily activity, you two have gained a sort of prestige in new adventurers, and a little reputation in the guilds staff." she paused for a moment, thinking about something, as she turned to look at Miss Syl, who nodded and spoke.

"It's because of your skills and raising reputation that some people really want you into their party, while most of them don't approach you thanks to Mirelle's strength, it doesn't mean there's no one who would force you into their party, just as you have experience." Miss Syl explained in great detail, as to why this ordeal had happened in the first place.

It didn't occur to me, that our daily routine would bring about this much attention, I had thought we were pretty low-profiled. From the looks of it however, we weren't low profiled enough. I could have activated [Veil and Mirage], but I don't know to what extent it would work, or to how it might complicate our daily activities, and I didn't want to expose the existence of this item to others just yet.

I was deep in thought, with many thoughts swirling in my head, when the guild master's voice rang out. "Celeste, you don't have to worry. The moment, you had done the guild good, we had placed people to watch over you." said the guild master. "Do you remember Dustin, he was today's watch for you and Mirelle." the guild master added. "So, you don't have to worry, and continue to do what you do."

"Is there a catch, guild master?" I asked the guild master up front, and she chuckled. "I'm sorry for laughing, you're quite straightforward." she said, as she added. "There isn't any catch, as long as the guild benefits from your daily activities, we will watch over you."

It made sense, the guild wasn't a charity. As long as we continued what we did, and it benefited the guild, we would be protected to a certain extent. I guess, it's the same no matter the world. I thought to myself, as I asked the guild master. "Is that everything, guild master?"

"No, we will also be increasing your and Mirelle's rank to F-." she said in response to my question, before adding a few more things, and she explained a few more details about the watches and why we had ranked up, and we were free to go.

With this, the sun was already gone, and moonlight was blanketing the whole street. Mirelle and I decided to continue what we did, studying and sparring until we were satisfied.
