Vee's pov
I was attending my classes when I heard a ding on my phone,I tried ignoring it but my phone kept on buzzing
"Miss Ivanov is there something wrong" ,
" no ma'am ",
" I would appreciate it if you could switch off your phone or check what is going on " ,
" sorry ma'am, pls could I be excused " .
" yes you may ",
Who the fuck is calling me, my phone kept on ringing I went outside to pick up the phone
" hello " I was mildly pissed so my voice had an edge
" Hi good day, I'm I speaking with a Valarie Ivanov" the man at the end of the phone asked ,
" yes, may I know the reason for your call" ,
" a young lady by the name of Kate Brown is in the hospital as we speak and you where in her emergency contact, so if .....
At this point I wasn't hearing anymore all I could think about was kitty , what happened , where did it happen,why I'm i being called her mom is also on her emergency contact, i hoped she has been informed .
As I made my way to my car I tried calling her mom
" the number you've dialed is not reachable pls leave a message after the beep" .
What the fuck why isn't she picking her calls .
As I was driving it occured to me that I don't know the name of the hospital, so I grabbed my phone and made to call the number to that called me
And then I saw it on my notification bar about a murder case that happened around kitty's house, I had this gnawing feeling that whatever this news will be will change our lives.
I wished somebody prepared me for what I saw
As I clicked on it, I saw the familiar porch of the browns house but instead of the normal empty porch it is now filled with reporters, police cars and normal civilians i then read the news under it ,
" Breaking news a woman was murdered brutally,
To the extent where her face is unrecognizable,
Her body is filled with cuts and bruises showing signs that the victim struggled before death,and all this took place in her kitchen, it's been said that authorities have been called to ensure the victim gets Justice and the victims only child a Kate Brown ,is said to have fainted immediately she saw the gruesome scene and is now being treated at the general hospital,it is said that... ".
I turned it off,I hadn't realized I was crying,now I know where Kate is she needs me now more than ever.
I pulled up in front of the hospital and ran to the desk asking the nurse in duty
" pls what ward is Kate Brown in"
" oh just down the hall to the left,poor child she saw her mother that way,I hope her mental health is okay" ,
"Thank you",
Okay, I doubt that,I'm not okay and I only saw photos Kate saw her mother mutilated skin I wonder how it will be for her and she and her mother has always been close ever since her dad died.
I practically ran to the ward
Immediately I entered I saw the tattered look of my best friend
" kitty it's okay to cry," let it all out
" vee mama is gone, she's all I've ever known what I'm I going to do vee"
I couldn't talk I just choked on my sobs as I patted her back I could hear the hurt in every thing she said she just got orphaned.
I couldn't relate to the feeling of helplessness she must be feeling now I have never had to suffer
She has always been the smart one, the one who I could rely on seeing her like this was breaking me but she has to grieve the lose of her mother.
