When I announced the recuperation of my mother's health to the Fanny's they were delighted, especially the billionaire himself, Fanny Luis. Fascinated, he was eager to host my mother to a dinner bouquet at his villa.
"Now you see what money can do, Melissa. Your mother is hale and hearty today because you took the right step", Fanny said to me while we had a walk along the courtyard. I wanted to show some appreciation but on a second thought there was no need for it, since it was a fifty-fifty thing. I had a contract marriage with his mad son and in return he gave me the one million, so why should I sound appreciative. I was in for a worse fate, and event were yet to unfold in this contract marriage I got myself into.
I forced a smile, pulled my hands backward as we walked along quietly
He cast an inspective glare at me, "I would love to see my in-law, so go straight away and inform her that the richest man in Rio Hondo, your father-in-law would be honored to host her to a dinner bouquet." Huge smile was on his face before he added, "What do you think, Melissa? Would that be okay by her?"
I was about speaking when repeated yell interrupted us,
"No! No! Get out! I win! I win! No! This is you! I will kill you."
That was the shrieking yelling of Brian, which echoed across the entire villa, leaving me flinching and taking a pause to hear him as though I was trying to make meaning out of his violent yell.
Fanny had a huge grin, stole a glance at me and mumbled, "Your husband. Probably he just woke up from sleep. You know his usual language is best conveyed through shouting," he elucidated to impress this shattered little girl called Melissa.
I wish I had something to say. And if indeed I had, it would be a change of roof, at least keeping my distance mattered most to me now. I was busy smiling sheepishly and nodding my head as though I was comfortable with the contract marriage.
"I hope you enjoyed your first night," he sounded.
I cleared my throat, lowered my gaze, pressed my lips in shame and wished I could tell him yes and pretend all was well. But I couldn't. Pretence wasn't going to be helpful either.
"No Sir," I snapped boldly, "I woke up every five seconds to check if Brian was about harming me.
He forced a smile, "I would appreciate it if you refer to me as father-in-law. It gives me the impression that my son is actually married," he corrected and I shook my head in approval.
He frowned at me, "Did you sleep in the same bed?" I halted and he did same and stared into my eyes before I lowered my gaze to fondle with my hands.
I wondered why he would want to know all about us now or was it part of the agreement of the contract marriage "I would fain want to keep that private, sir, sorry, father-in-law," I corrected and said respectfully and still lowered my gaze.
"Oh apologies. I only thought it was sudden to keep Brian under control. Anyways, Melissa, I look forward to having dinner with my in-law," he said conclusively and added, "Have a nice day," he smiled gratefully at me and stamped away.
"No! I am the winner! No! I win! I win!" Brian Fanny kept disturbing the entire mansion with his scream.
I flinched, staring at the billionaire jump into the swimming pool while I stared back at my chamber, deciding just then I wasn't going to return to that chamber to freshen up before going to my mother.
"Good morning, Melissa," that was the sonorous voice of Salsa.
She was standing right behind me, holding a basket of dresses and jewelries, with her contagious smile calling on me.
"I hope you had a wonderful night with your husband," she sounded her tone putting emphasis on the husband.
I smiled shyly and tossed my head to give her the impression she wanted.
"This is for you; I would fain seek your permission before taking this into your chambers.
Anxiously, I blinked and interrupted her as she swirled to walk away, "Hold on, Salsa, I can freshen up in your chamber and dress up too," my tone was chinless, "There is no need taking it to mine.
A disturbing frown hung on her face, "Why Melissa?" she queried and was interrupted by Brian.
"No! No! I win! I win! No! Get out!" this time around he shook and kicked the door madly that it thudded on my chest. I shut my eyes and ears until he stopped.
Salsa intoned, "No, I see. Is it because of Brian? I would be punished if you are seen in my chamber, Melissa. You have to do this in your chamber. Your husband wouldn't harm you." She turned around to walk on, "Okay I want you to follow me right now, Melissa. He would do nothing," Quickly, I hastened up to her and grabbed her hand, taking refuge behind her while we walked to my door.
"No! No! Yes! Yes! I will kill you! Yes you!" Brian's scream took a new dimension as though he sensed we were coming. I flinched even right behind Salsa and I clenched on her finger tightly, shivering and breathing uneasily as we advanced to the door.
Salsa acted as one who had plans of over powering Brian. The shrieking voice of Brian split into our ears and the door shook right before us.
Salsa gripped the key and unlocked the door. With bated breath, I watched as my husband's nakedness flash into our eyes. Brian had stripped and scattered the entire chamber.
"No! No! Yes! Get out! I win!" he kept screaming, often holding his head so he could scream louder.
Suddenly Brian made at us with a knife.
"watch it!" I screamed at the tops of my voice.
Swiftly Salsa unhooked from my grip, handed me the basket of dresses and grabbed Brian on the floor, and disarmed him of the knife.
"Keep shut! Come on, keep shut! "She ordered and struggled to bind him hands and feet…
I almost peed on myself…
