"NIGHTLIGHT disbanded! Today we shall..." the reporter went on.
The man sitting on the sofa watched the flat screen tv in front of him was emotionless, looking almost like a statue because of his stillness. An almost imperceptible sigh broke out from him.
He turned his cell phone on, scanning various posts related to the disbandment of the group.
-Jeez, five years ago I'd never thought that these guys would disband so quickly.
-Me too. Fame got to their head, that's why this happened.
-Karma strikes again!
-They were nice guys at first but slowly got rotten.
-Not all of them are bad...
-What went wrong???
- Sehun my baby it's not your fault!
A message floated above the rest:
Youngest, are you okay? It's not your fault, don't blame yourself.
Sehun leaned to the sofa and pressed his forehead with his hand. Maybe it was his fault. If he didn't report Zayn's drug use, maybe the group would still exist. Nobody blamed him, not even Yuji who was the most hot-blooded of them all but their silence also kills him.
Five years ago, Sehun was the sixteen-year old youngest of the promising kpop boy group NIGHTLIGHT. Jin, their responsible hyung and leader, Yuji the hot-headed rapper, Zayn the dancer, Hajoon the handsome, Ken the hyung among all hyung, Eun-woo the Mr.Everything and lastly, the maknae Sehun. They were full of dreams, hopes and aspirations for the future. So where did it start to get all wrong?
First year was like a roller coaster: they went up and down but NIGHTLIGHT enjoyed the ride. It was fun until Hajoon dropped the news he was diagnosed without liver cancer in the start of the second year. He left the group.
Nothing happened the second year but third year welcomed them with a big slap on their faces. A paparazzi revealed his multiple relationships to the media, turning his title " National Boyfriend" to "National Scum".
To add to that few months later, Eun-woo dropped a bombshell and announced directly to the company that he will back out of the group. He didn't even went to explain to the group after that.
Of all his six hyungs Sehun has, he deemed Eun-woo as his closest hyung. They we're already friends at the beginning of their idol training.As an orphan, Sehun was brought up in the orphanage but it was only when Eun-woo introduced him to his parents the warmth of a family. Eun-woo's mother even called him her second son.
Eun-woo with his title 'Mr. Everything', taught Sehun a lot of skills. Singing, dancing, playing the guitar and piano, songwriting and even make -up. Sehun was the only cook of the NIGHTLIGHT though.
Sehun confronted Eun-woo only to face a teary-eyed hyung who said, "I just feel disappointed... I gave so much effort to the group just to that realize others don't value to it..." He wiped his tears as left before Sehun could say anything.
It took almost two years for Sehun to figure it all out. When he saw Zayn smoking crack in the bathroom, Sehun collared Zayn to the wall and glared at Zayn.
"Zayn hyung! How could you do this!" he shouted at him bitterly. He knew Zayn intentionally isolated himself from the rest of the members but he never knew this was the reason. Sehun noticed Eun-woo always approaches Zayn and never leaves him alone. He felt so sorry for being so oblivious to Eun-woo's situation.
" Fuck off, you little shit! Who do you think you are!" Zayn shouted back."A mere kid wants to lecture me?! This is my life, kid!Now get your fucking hands off me!"
Unable to bear it all, Sehun reported the incident to the higher-ups.
And here he was. He won't lie that the disbandment didn't shatter his heart, it also shattered his dreams. Everything he built crumbled to ashes.
"Could I start again?" Sehun asked out loud, a bitter smile on his lips, spewing a monologue of helplessness. "Hey, self! Let me cry my tears out tonight! Just tonight.." he gritted his teeth as tears kept wetting his cheeks. " I'll definitely face it all tomorrow... just let me empty everything tonight..."
A notification suddenly sounded from his phone. He wearily checked it out, only to see the new notification came from his favorite game [Love and Thorns], a reverse world fantasy game, where girls are inherently dominant than boys and magic exist. Besides the information that women are stronger than men, monsters, magic and otherworldly races or creatures was a reality for this world.
Usually, you choose a character from the game, but in Sehun's case, he chose to personalized a character from the scratch including equipment. He bought the chance to do so, just to figure out that personalized characters are weaker than the main characters.
In the end, Sehun eventually played a playable character named Jude Roia. Jude Roia is a male character who have an almost fanatical obsession with money. Before any fight, she shouts "Money first!" and slashes through the enemy with her dual short swords. Even now, Jadeith remains to be Sehun's character and he was currently together with automatically controlled characters, fighting the final boss of [Roses and Thorns], an alien cybernetic entity named Exsilum. Due to its impeccable defense technology, no one had ever succeeded clearing out this stage yet.
[Hidden Quest Incoming...]
Sehun laughed, finding it funny that the game had notified him just after his sob session. "Pffft... of all times. To think the ge sent me a quest when I'm crying my ass off."
He slowly closed his eyes, feeling strangely his consciousness fading as time passes. Welcoming the sensation with a smile, Sehun dropped to the sofa and fainted.
