Chapter 10 - Unexpected

Five months had passed since Neon Smith arrived in Canada, and she had finally started to feel settled. She had found a comfortable routine, and her daughter Nequeahlia had adjusted well to her new surroundings. The little girl had made friends at school and had even started to excel in her studies.

Neon's job at Clever Kids Kindergarten was going great, and she had become a valued member of the team. She had also started to make friends with some of the other teachers and parents at the school.

As she looked around her cozy one-bedroom apartment, Neon felt a sense of pride and accomplishment. She had worked hard to build a new life for herself and Nequeahlia, and it seemed like everything was finally falling into place.

Nequeahlia was happily playing with her toys in the living room, oblivious to the fact that her mom was watching her with a warm smile. Neon felt grateful for this little family they had built, and she knew that she would do anything to keep them safe and happy.

Miss Rose, the security guard at Nequeahlia's school, had become a close friend of Neon's. They had been going to bingo games together every Thursday night, enjoying each other's company and the excitement of the game.

This particular Thursday night, Neon felt like dressing up, so she put on a stunning red dress that accentuated her curves. When she arrived at the County Community Center, Miss Rose whistled in admiration. "Neon, you look absolutely gorgeous!" she exclaimed.

As they played bingo, Neon and Miss Rose were having a great time, laughing and chatting. However, their luck was not on their side, and they ended up losing everything, including their fare home.

Just as they were wondering how they would get home, a striking woman with bright red hair and a supermodel physique approached them. "Hey, ladies! Looks like you could use a ride. I'm Grezzel. Hop in, I'll take you home."

Neon and Miss Rose exchanged skeptical glances, but Grezzel's warm smile put them at ease. They accepted her offer and followed her to her sleek, black car. As they drove through the night, Neon couldn't help but notice the way Grezzel's red hair cascaded down her back like a fiery waterfall. She seemed like an intriguing and confident woman, and Neon found herself drawn to her charismatic presence.

s they drove through the night, Neon couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. There was something about Grezzel that didn't quite add up. She seemed friendly and charming, but Neon's instincts were telling her to be cautious.

Just as she was starting to relax, a figure suddenly popped out of the backseat. Neon let out a startled yelp as the figure, a young woman with a mischievous grin, introduced herself.

"Hey, I'm Rachel! Grezzel's friend," she said, her eyes sparkling with amusement. Neon's unease turned to alarm as she wondered how Rachel had managed to hide in the backseat without her noticing.

Grezzel chuckled and said, "Don't mind Rachel, she's just a little dramatic. We're almost at your place, Neon." Neon nodded, still feeling a bit uneasy, but trying to brush it off as mere paranoia. Little did she know, her life was about to take a dramatic turn.

s they drove down the highway, Grezzel suddenly made a sharp left turn, and before anyone could react, a massive truck slammed into the side of the SUV. The impact was tremendous, and the vehicle was thrown off the road, crashing through the guardrail and plunging into the dark waters below.

Neon's world went black as the SUV sank deeper into the water. She was vaguely aware of screams and crunching metal, but it all seemed distant and muffled. Miss Rose's voice was the last thing she remembered, crying out in terror as the water rushed in.

Everything went silent, and Neon's consciousness slipped away, leaving her trapped in a dark, watery abyss.

Rachel's eyes flickered open, and she was met with darkness. She tried to move, but a sharp pain shot through her head. As she struggled to remember what had happened, her training kicked in. She reached for her knife and used it to cut through the seatbelt that was holding her in place.

She looked around, trying to assess the situation. The car was submerged in water, and the others were still unconscious. Rachel knew she had to act fast. She grabbed Grezzel and shook her awake. "Rose, wake up!" she shouted, slapping Miss Rose's face to rouse her.

But when Rachel touched Neon, she cried out in pain. Neon's skin was scorching hot, like a burning iron. Rachel recoiled, confused and scared. What was happening to Neon?

The water in the car was getting warmer by the second, and Rachel knew they had to get out. She used her knife to break the window, and the water rushed in. Rachel grabbed Grezzel and Miss Rose, and they swam out of the car.

But as they reached the surface, Rachel turned back, desperate to save Neon. She dove back down into the water, determined to rescue her friend.

as she approached, she saw a dark shadow looming over Neon, its finger extended, holding a sword that gleamed in the dim light. The shadow was trying to cut off Neon's head.

Rachel tried to scream, but the water rushed into her mouth, silencing her. She tried to move, to attack the shadow, but it saw her and began to move towards her, its sword raised.

Just as all hope seemed lost, Neon's eyes flickered open, glowing with an otherworldly light. Her hair began to move, writhing like snakes, and she reached out, grabbing the shadow with an inhuman strength.

The two of them burst out of the water, suspended in mid-air, and began to fight. Rachel and the others watched in amazement as the two combatants clashed, their movements lightning-fast.

But as the fight intensified, Neon began to glow brighter and brighter, until she was a being of pure light. The shadow let out a scream of rage and pain as it was consumed by the light, and then it was gone.

Then Neon's body sank to the bottom of the river, her limbs limp and lifeless. Time seemed to stand still as she lay there, surrounded by the dark, murky water.

Ten minutes later, the ambulance arrived, sirens blaring, and the firefighters rushed to the scene. They quickly got to work, lifting the SUV out of the river with Neon's body still inside.

The paramedics rushed to her side, beginning CPR as they desperately tried to revive her. For four agonizing hours, they continued to pump her chest and breathe air into her lungs, refusing to give up.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Neon coughed up blood, sand, and water. The paramedics cheered, relieved that she was showing signs of life.

Neon and the other girls were quickly loaded into the ambulance and rushed to the hospital for a thorough check-up. As they arrived, the medical team sprang into action, surrounding them with a flurry of activity.

Neon's eyes flickered open, and she gazed up at the unfamiliar faces surrounding her. She tried to speak, but her voice was hoarse and barely audible.

Miss Rose and Rachel grasped her hands, tears of relief streaming down their faces. "We're here, Neon," Miss Rose whispered. "You're safe now."

But as Neon looked up at them, she knew that something was different. She could feel it inside her, a strange, buzzing energy that seemed to be growing stronger by the minute.
