It was the beginning of yet another week, that meant another week ok school.Leina felt great joy and gratitude for being able to learn new things but the same could not be said for the environment the school held and that being Susian Kilner.
She had started bullying Leina since the 2nd grade for unknown reasons to her.
Susian always felt that it was unfair for Leina to be part of the school when she had nothing extraordinary to her name, the only thing she carried was her father's name and that was it.
The Kilner family is in the top 5 of the richest family in the city. They run Kilner's Jewels the third largest company in Westdentia. The family has two daughters Susian and Marianne, they both attended Academia Westdentia with Susian being in the 4th grade the same as Leina's and Marianne being in the 10th grade the same as Lester and Alexander.
"I wonder were that pesky little thing is now"said Susian how was looking for her source of entertainment the 'L' girl.
"We searched everywhere but it seems like she's disappeared" said Jessica while huffing due to searching for Leina on Susians behalf.
"I'm sure we'll catch her next time but let's go-"
"No! I want to find her now" shrieked Susian causing all the students in the courtyard to look her direction, some winced while some held a look of disdain.
Susain saw everyone looking and murmuring among themselves felt a bit embarrassed and said, "What you looking at her" yet regained her composure and left the court yard to go where people wouldn't talk behind her back.
..
Leina who was hiding not so far from the courtyard sighed and walked out from behind a column.
She really felt that she should commend Susian for her resilience. Who knew people could feel that vexed by somebody.
Leina looked around the coast again and left for the library.
Not so far from her, Alexander who noticed the whole fiasco chuckled at her predicament.
"She's cute" he thought loudly. Surprised at what he said he looked around to see if people heard what he said but luckily everyone was in their own little bubbles.
'Hmm let me see what she's up top though' he thought and left to follow her.
Feeling that the route she was leading him was familiar, 'I wonder why I thought she was going anywhere else' he thought and face palmed while halting before going to the boring library.
Knowing exactly where she was headed thanks to her brother's filling him in about where to usually find Leina.
Leina loved reading books like her life depended on it and that was weird considering technology has become so advanced, but he wasn't one to judge.
A sense of fulfillment washed over Leina the moment she opened a book to read after such a stressful encounter, she sat in the allocated reading booths that help student read uninterruptedly.
As she was reading the first paragraph of Jane .M Pens bestseller adventures book she felt something move beside her, turning her head to see what it was she paused and blinked.
'What is he doing here' she thought and before she could ask Alexander greeted her.
"Hey there, I thought I should join since we are reading buddies" said Alexander sparing her the time to question him.
Thinking about it for a brief second she nodded acknowledging his reasoning and also greeting him.
She then turned to read her book but not even 2 minutes later Alexander asked, "So what are we reading?". Confused by what he was saying she looked a realized he brought nothing to read.
Ignoring his stupidity she turned her body facing the opposite direction and preceded to read.
But to her it seemed like Alexander was hellbent on interrupting her.
"Hey how must I read if you do that"
She finally said something for the time after seeing him, "You should have brought your own book to read"
"Are we not reading buddies, why should I read something you're not?"
"Go get another copy then"
"That's not how this works though"
Leina felt like she could strangle him, her brother's were not this annoying!
She turned facing him and placed the book between them hoping this would make him stop.
However to her dismay he asked, "So what happens in this book?"
She chose to ignore but he had other plans in store.
"Oh so you like adventure stuff"
".."
"So who's the author mhmm?"
".."
"I see why you would like it, I mean I would like to escape this place too"
What he said made her pause and look at him and for the first time since knowing him she saw sadness in his eyes, she wondered what could have caused him such anguish.
Noticing her looking at him with pity made him put his facade and he smiled while saying, "Finally got your attention, so tell me about this book"
Breaking out of her daze she sighed and decided to tell him all about Jane's works and why she loved it.
Alexander thought he would get bored since we wasn't all that interested in books but hearing how enthusiastic Leina was about it he listened attentively while admiring her passion for literature.
And just like that the stayed in the reading booth and this was yet another step into them growing on each other.
