Detective Charles stepped into Diana's office, his eyes scanning the room. The space was sleek and modern, with a stunning view of the city. He began his search, methodically examining every inch. As he approached the window, he noticed a small hole in the glass. It looked very much like a bullet hole. Charles's brow furrowed. According to the autopsy report, Diana was killed with a pistol, not a sniper rifle. He knelt, examining the floor. A single bullet casing caught his attention. He carefully picked it up with his hands covered in gloves, placing it in his evidence bag. "This doesn't add up," Charles muttered to himself. He took out his phone and dialed the medical examiner's office. "Dr. Patel, it's Detective Charles. I need to clarify something about Diana Cruz's autopsy. "Dr. Patel's voice came through the line. "What is it, Detective?", "The bullet wound. You said it was from a pistol?", "That's correct," Dr. Patel replied. Charles's eyes narrowed. "I'm looking at a bullet hole in Diana's office window. It looks like a sniper round. Can you explain that?" There was a pause on the other end. "That's impossible. The entry wound on Diana's body was definitely from a pistol. "Charles's mind raced. "I'll send the bullet casing I found to your office. Can you compare it to the one recovered from Diana's body?", "Of course, Detective. I'll get right on it. "Charles ended the call, his thoughts swirling. What was going on? Was the killer trying to send a message, or was this a deliberate misdirection? He continued his search, looking for any other clues. As he examined Diana's desk, he found a hidden compartment. Inside, a small notebook contained cryptic notes. "Eclipse... MT... Victoria..."Charles's eyes locked onto the names. Marcus Thompson and Victoria Lee. What was their connection to Diana? He tucked the notebook into his evidence bag, his mind racing with questions.
Charles arrived at the forensic lab, eager to learn about the bullet casing analysis. Dr. Patel greeted him, her expression serious. "What did you find?" Charles asked. "The bullet casing you sent matches the one recovered from Diana's body," Dr. Patel said. "But there's something peculiar." Charles leaned in. "What is it?", "The casing has distinct rifling marks, consistent with a high-powered sniper rifle. But the bullet that killed Diana was a 9mm pistol round. "Charles's eyes narrowed. "That doesn't make sense. How can a pistol round leave sniper rifle marks?"Dr. Patel shook her head. "I've never seen anything like this. It's possible the killer used a specialized weapon or modified a pistol to fire a sniper round. "Charles's mind raced. "Or maybe there were two shooters at the spot?" Dr. Patel's eyes widened. "That's a possibility. We need to re-examine the crime scene and interview witnesses again. "Charles nodded, his determination growing. "Let's get to the bottom of this. "As he left the lab, Charles received a call from an unknown number. "Detective Charles, you're getting close to the truth," a low voice said. "But be careful. You're not the only one investigating. "The line went dead. Charles's grip on his phone tightened. Who was on the other end? And what did they want? Charles immediately dialed the phone's caller ID, but it showed as "Unknown Number". He tried calling it back, but it went straight to voicemail. "Who are you?" Charles muttered to himself.
Just then he calls his partner, after some seconds, he added, " somethings really off, Daniela", " what happened?" she asked over the line, " lets meet up at the cafeteria close to your hotel, ill be there in 15 minutes" he said before ending the call.
Walking into the cafeteria , he already spotted Daniela sitting at a rear angle, he walks down to her table at sat opposite her," you said there's a problem earlier on" Daniela said her eyebrow raised in confusion," yeah, have a look" he said before drooping his phone on the table showing her the picture of the two bullets, " what's this?" she asked staring at him, " this first bullet is a sniper riffle bullet, while the second bullet is a pistol bullet from Diana's autopsy" he stated, " okay!" she said still not getting the hang of it, he explained further, " the sniper bullet was found in Diana's office with partial blood stains, while the pistol bullet was found in her bod during the autopsy result by Dr. Patel, this means there are three things involve here, either, there were two killers involved at the same time, or she was brushed by the sniper but was killed with the pistol under self defense or someone else entirely playing a whole game on us" Charles explained with a sincere expression, Diana mind absorbing it all, stared at him, for some while, stared round the cafeteria, before then her eyes had already glance on a figure who walked into the cafeteria and sat in an adjacent position close to them, he was dressed in black hoodie, his face wasn't visible but he looked strange, " lets leave the cafeteria, Mr. Charles, Something off here, I feel it, she had no time to say much before standing up and walking out of the cafeteria with Mr. Charles behind her
After some while, he decided to trace the call. After a few minutes of typing away on his computer, he finally got a hit. The call originated from a burner phone, purchased anonymously at a local convenience store. Charles grabbed his keys and headed to the store. The clerk, a nervous-looking teenager, remembered selling the phone. "The person came in, paid cash, and left," the clerk said. "The person wore a black hoodie and sunglasses. I didn't think much of it. "Charles showed the clerk a photo of Marcus Thompson and Victoria Lee. "Do either of these people look familiar?" The clerk shook his head. "No, sir." Charles thanked the clerk and left. He couldn't shake the feeling that the caller was trying to throw him off track. Next, he headed back to the crime scene to re-examine the area. As he arrived, he noticed something peculiar. A small piece of fabric caught his attention near the window. He carefully picked it up, placing it in an evidence bag." Dr. Patel, can you analyze this fabric?" Charles asked over the phone. "Of course, Detective. What's the context?", "It was near the window where Diana was shot. I think it might be connected to the sniper rifle." Dr. Patel's voice turned thoughtful. "I'll get right on it. "Charles began re-examining the crime scene, searching for any other clues, that could reveal the main truth of Ms. Diana Cruz sudden death.
