Introduction

Becoming the next king of Cypriox, a realm where religious norms are paramount, is undoubtedly a challenging path. Its people are expected to be holy, virtuous, and exceptional in every way. This expectation puts immense pressure on me. A king must embody the qualities of a priest or even a god, but—

Whose human is perfect?

I am aware of my human limitations, yet I strive for perfection. I want to impress those who expect more from me.

I am Hyushen, a man with distinctive green eyes. Raised in a convent, I immersed myself in the scriptures and teachings of the Crux religion. I committed countless verses to memory and engaged in scholarly debates on religious norms and values. My wisdom, honed through rigorous analysis, has allowed me to impress those around me.

I came from the clan of Devöer, the richest family in Cypriox. Our green eyes are proof of being a royal clan. And that makes me more pressured knowing that they are expecting more about my capabilities. Though, I've seen that my efforts have made so far an impression on them.

The truth is, to become the king of Cypriox, a candidate must first become a priest to be eligible for the monarchical position. While I am qualified for the position, our current king, who is part of the Devöer clan, inherited the throne due to an old tradition mandated by the monarchy system.

My nation, Cypriox, differs from other civilizations in its authoritarian structure, governed by three kings. Unlike Thallerion, Moonatoria, and other nations with singular leaders, Cypriox is a tripartite kingdom with distinct churches, all adhering to the Crux religion.

We as Cyprioxians believe that a holy life is pleasing to the god. To maintain this sacred existence, we must adhere to countless rules and regulations.

The religious beliefs of Cypriox are centered around the divine power of the Crux. The three kings established a statue of a cross as a symbol of this faith.

And the most sacred purpose of the crux religion is the sacrifice of a holy being. A Cypriox one. The Crux religion of Cypriox hinges on a profound belief in sacrifice as the ultimate act of devotion. The people of Cypriox understand that god, the Crux, demands a sacred offering to ensure the spiritual purity of humanity. This offering, we believe, must be a holy being, a sacrifice that will atone for the sins of the world.

By sacrificing a holy individual, the people of Cypriox hope to cleanse the world of corruption and suffering. We believe that this ultimate sacrifice will usher in a new era of peace, prosperity, and divine grace. The weight of this belief is immense, shaping every aspect of Cyprioxian society and driving the relentless pursuit of holiness.

King Wendzar, the ruler of Sanctimum Opryx, the first kingdom of Cypriox, located in a southern city. I served as his apprentice, carrying out various tasks. King Wendzar was like a father figure to me, sharing his thoughts, opinions, and even his deepest secrets.

However, King Wendzar is also my uncle, my father's brother. I've since discovered the intricate scheme of our clan to maintain power over the Cypriox monarchy. This revelation explains King Wendzar's cunning tactics to outmaneuver the other kings and secure more wealth and opportunities for our family.

The weight of the crown, once a symbol of divine favor, now feels heavy and oppressive. The sacred facade of Cypriox, meticulously crafted by generations of my family, is crumbling before my eyes. The secrets that King Wendzar shared, once whispered in confidence, now echo in my mind, revealing a stark contrast between the pious image and the ruthless reality of power.

As I contemplate my future as king, I'm torn between duty and conscience. I must navigate a treacherous path, balancing the expectations of my family and the needs of the people. The question lingers: can I truly lead a nation built on such fragile foundations, or am I destined to become another pawn in a centuries-old game of power and deception?
