The next day, a rich merchant walked to the ranch along with Mr. Dan, and Dan said,.
"You said you need a horse to supply your silk to the queen. Let me introduce you to my prideful horse, Isadora, her dream is for a king to ride on her back. So since you are going to the palace, I believe Isadora would love to go. Maybe the queen will be interested."
The merchant saw the beautiful white horse drinking water from the stream and said, "Woah! What a beautiful horse you are! The princess will love this horse. Would you like to be my horse and help pull my wagon for a few days to ride to the palace?"
Isadora snorted and laughed, "I am a beautiful horse. How can I be reduced to a beast of burden carrying heavy loads around? Please move on. I am only suited for a king." Isadora continued drinking water from the stream. Dan explained what the horse said.
Disappointed, the merchant apologized and was about to go on his way. Sea biscuits snorted at Dan coming out to meet them. "I have never been to the palace. I would love to help pull his wagon. Said Sea biscuit,
" Mr. Dan tells Mr. Thomas, the merchant, about Sea Biscuit. Mr. Thomas was reluctant at first, but with the story of Sea Biscuit being a very smart and intelligent horse. He agreed.
The sound of humming markets flows through the bright morning air. Mr. Thomas, a merchant well-known for his gorgeously woven silk, is getting ready to make his major delivery to the royal castle. Yards of colorful, glistening silk wrapped in thick blankets are arranged high on his wagon. Sea Biscuit, is fastened to the wagon and was prepared for the journey.
"This delivery has the chance to change our fortune. The finest silks in the realm are what the queen has asked for, so let us arrive at the castle in time for the sunset." He pats Seabiscuit,
With a click of his tongue, Thomas gets into the wagon, and Sea Biscuit starts to trot along the gravel road. With the sun blazing and the skies clear, the road ahead appears to be going smoothly.
Thomas and Seabiscuit find themselves on a narrower and uneven path as they pass through a deep forest. The path was blocked by a big, fallen tree up ahead, so Thomas has to maneuver the wagon into a side trail that passes through a more remote area of the forest. Suddenly the wagon jerked up by a rock to one side when one of its wheels struck a deep hole.
The jerking jolt knocks over a lantern hanging from the side of the wagon, on grassy ground, causing a spark to land on some dry leaves beneath the wagon to catch fire.
Panicked Sea biscuit rears up "Whoa! Steady, Sea Biscuit! Oh no… the lantern—!"
The spark ignites into a small flame that quickly spreads to the wagon. Mr. Thomas tried to put out the fire, however, an east wind blew heavily, making the fire spread quickly through the forest. Mr. Thomas tried to move the wagon, but it was stuck into the hole. Sea Biscuit notices the fire and tries to use his strength to pull the wagon; however, it is too stuck to pull. The fire spreads quickly, and the entire tree and forest set ablaze.
"We need to get away alive, Sea Biscuit." Thomas freed Sea Biscuit from its rein and said, "run, run run"
Smoke rises as the fire starts catching onto the fabric beneath the silk clothes.
"No, no, not the silks! This can't happen!" Thomas shouted with his two hands on his head. Trying desperately to extinguish the fire with his hands, but it's spreading too fast. He looks around for water, but there's none in sight. The smoke thickens, and the situation looks dire.
Sea Biscuit, sensing the danger, starts to act. Instinctively, she moved to the sides of the wagon, pulling it down the door, yanking the blanket away from the flames as much as possible. He rears up slightly, loosening the ropes securing the silk to the wagon and causing some of the silks to fall to the ground, away from the spreading fire.
Sea Biscuit turns and grabs one of the fallen silks in his teeth, pulling it away from the fire, then does the same with the others. The horse kicks dirt onto the flames near the silk, trying to suppress the spreading fire. Thomas watches in awe as his horse moves swiftly and with purpose. Thomas, without wasting time, joins Sea Biscuit as both pull the silk away to safe ground.
Sea Biscuit continues his efforts, saving the most valuable silk rolls from the fire. However, the fire is spreading too quickly, and Thomas knows they have to leave before it's too late. He gathered the silk and tied it with ropes. He mounted the Silks on Sea biscuits back.
With all silks safely pulled out of the path of the fire. Sea Biscuit trots over to Thomas and nudges him, urging him to mount up. Upon trusting his horse, Thomas quickly climbs onto Sea Biscuit's back, leaving the burning wagon behind. With a powerful surge, Sea Biscuit dashes down the road, away from the flames.
As they gallop through the forest, the fire crackles behind them, Thomas looks up. A burning tree descends towards their path along the narrow road. However, SeaBiscuit was quicker to maneuver its way to the side away from the burning tree. The tree collapsed with a big
Bomb
Behind them, a hole up ahead, and SeaBiscult gallantly gallops its way, jumping over the hole. They continue to run until they safely run out of the forest. They finally stop at a small stream, and Thomas jumps down, breathing heavily and looking back at the distant smoke. By the stream, Thomas begins inspecting the silks that Sea Biscuit saved. Amazingly, most of them are intact, with only a few singed at the edges. The merchant sits down, catching his breath and shaking his head in disbelief.
"You... you saved the silks, Sea Biscuit! I can't believe it. I thought we'd lost everything!"
Sea Biscuit snorts, as if proud of his quick thinking. He nudges Thomas gently, and Thomas smiles, wiping soot from his face.
Patting Sea Biscuit, Thomas said, "You're a hero, you know that? These silks will still make it to the queen, thanks to you." Sea Biscuit snorted.
…
Later that afternoon, Thomas and Sea Biscuit finally arrive at the castle gates, exhausted but determined. A few of the silk bolts show signs of their brush with fire, but they are still beautiful, vibrant, and salvageable.
The castle guard greets them, and soon, the queen herself appears at the balcony, curious about the slight delay. Thomas bows deeply and begins unloading the silk.
"Your majesty" Thomas Bows
The queen, noticing the singed edges, asked, "What happened to the silks, merchant?"
"Your Majesty, a fire broke out on our journey, but thanks to my brave horse, Sea Biscuit, we managed to save most of the silks. She pulled them from the flames himself."
" A horse? Save the clothes," the Queen questioned surprised.
"Yes, your majesty. Mr. Dan has the best range of horses, and I rented Sea Biscuit for this journey. It's quite smart. I must purchase her for myself." Thomas narrates his experience to the queen.
The queen looks at Sea Biscuit, her expression softening into one of admiration.
"A horse with such bravery and loyalty is indeed rare. It's a shame you are going to buy her. I would love to have her among my horses. Anyway, you've both done well. The Knight Hero, Sir Galahad, has just returned from his adventure. I will recommend Mr. Dan for a powerful horse to deliver a royal message. Guards give them some food and change of clothes and room for the night." The queen ordered as she walked away.
Thomas, beaming with pride, nods as Sea Biscuit stands tall beside him.
A day later,
Thomas goes back to Mr. Dan's ranch after his journey and intends to give twice as much to buy Sea Biscuit, but her value grows twice as much in his eyes, and he refuses to sell her. The merchant walked away feeling sad. Mr. Dan walks to SeaBiscuit, patting her and saying, "What have you done this time, Sea Biscuit? Everybody is saying you are an intelligent horse, I feel lucky to have you."
Two days later, A giant, powerful knight in heavy armor walked to the door of Dan. He knocked, and when the door opened, the man announced, "I am Sir Galahad the Hero knight. I was informed by the royal majestic queen that you have a horse I can rent for a special quest to the king.".
"I want a powerful, intelligent horse for a secret mission."
"You are welcome, and I do have a variety of horses. If you may…." Dan led the way. Mr. Dan takes him to Isadora.
The knight asked, "Would you like to be my horse to deliver a war message to another country. ?"
"Absolutely not, I am a beautiful warhorse, suitable only for a king. How can I be ridden by a mere soldier to such petty battles?" The gallant soldier looked at her with pity and turned to Dan and said.
"Where is Seabiscuit? The queen informed me of an intelligent horse." Mr. Dan's eyes widened. Quickly he led him to Sea Biscuit.
"Perfect," he announced. He rented sea biscuits and taught him the art of war combat and trained her. He placed different obstacles and trained Sea Biscuit to maneuver and outrun obstacles. That day finally arrived for their departure.
