Chereads / Teenager's Magical Fantasy / Chapter 42 - After the Negotiation

Chapter 42 - After the Negotiation

  Silence.

Jared played with the glass in his hand for a few moments before speaking slowly.

"I'm surprised, ma'am. You definitely don't seem like such a weak person ... And, why us? With your status, you must be able to recruit a lot of swordsmen and guardians. There's no need for you to keep pestering us, is there? I think I've made it clear that you're not deaf. Caroline and I don't want to get involved in anything dangerous. Especially not in a conspiracy that's so clearly aimed at you as it is now."

Jared had made his words clear, and they were just as harsh as they'd been in the Forest of the Dead. Kylie bit her lip and clenched her hands into fists, shaking slightly.

"So, do you mean to say ... that even if I die, you guys don't care?!"

  "In a sense, yes."

Jared sipped his wine and replied blandly.

  "POW!!!"

Kelly slammed her hand down on the table and looked at Jared angrily, her lips turning white. Jared looked at her with no fear, not even a hint of emotion. They stared at each other for a moment before Kelly sighed. She stood up, walked to the door and locked it behind her. Then she returned to Jared's face, her expression no longer one of false anger, but one of utter exhaustion.

"I didn't want to say anything, but in this case, I don't think there's any way you can get away with it."

  "Why?"

"I thought about it all night yesterday. Don't you think it's strange? Why did the other side have to kill me in such a troublesome way? I had plenty of chances to be killed before that, but why until then, and why in such a form as tampering with the structure of the magic formation?"

"Wasn't it to hide the trouble?"

Jared replied in boredom, but Kelly shook her head.

"You don't know anything about magic, that's why you say that. But the fact is, a tampered magic formation is not necessarily stable, and if it is not accompanied by the chanting of the magician, it is immediately noticeable that the entire teleportation spell is faulty. Even if the three localization magicians were all partners of the enemy, it would have been difficult to maintain the original form of the magic formation and change its location, especially to teleport to the Forest of the Undead, which is so far away. If I had realized that, it would have been a total loss. Then why did they use such a troublesome method?"

Jared spread his hands in a gesture of indifference, just as he had said he had nothing to do with it. But apparently Kelly didn't see it that way, so he listened to what the young lady had to say.

"I think they are trying to involve the college in this."

Kelly's voice turned more and more serious.

"If I disappear, then the San Marino royal family and the academy will definitely clash - I can't tell you why I'm so sure for now, but if that happens, then the consequences will be very serious. I know my value very well, and I'm not boasting, so I'm sure that if something like that happens, it will be very serious. The relationship between the Academy Council and the royal family ... In short, if I die or disappear, the relationship between the Academy and the royal family will definitely deteriorate, and at that time ..."

Is that why Kura said they had to be teleported back to the day the transfer spell failed?

  Jared frowned slightly .

The whole thing seemed to have come to him in a vague outline, but when he thought about it, something didn't seem right.

Yes, Jared had always believed that the reason for the teleportation back in time was because they were in the same time period now as they had been in the Forest of the Undead, and that such an overlap would not be tolerated. And with cause comes effect: if they didn't go back two days ago, then they wouldn't have known that it was Kura who had rescued them, and they wouldn't have gone to Kura, and then the three of them would have been kept in the Forest of the Undead - and at the same time, since there was no longer a cause for this, then naturally, they wouldn't have gotten a teleportation back to the past, and then those of them who had been teleported back to the past And they will disappear. It's a deadly cycle, but it has an Achilles' heel.

Why did they have to teleport back two days to make it look like they weren't missing?

Kelly's deduction finally gives the answer .

Obviously, the reason they were teleported back two days was to prevent the royal family from using this as an opportunity to turn against the academy, and if a full-blown conflict broke out, then Tawana, who was studying at the academy, would naturally be involved, and there was no way that Jared and Caroline would be able to get away with it either.

Whether they knew the truth before they teleported back to their original time, or whether they decided to teleport after they learned the truth, is simply a question of chicken and egg, and one that may never be answered.

  "I see."

Jared stood up, but his next words were anything but agreeable.

"I think you should report this to the Headmistress of the Academy, maybe she'll have a good idea, or at least, a crisis problem at the Academy I think she should be in charge of."

  "No way!!!"

Kelly squealed in shock, then she realized she was out of line and smoothed her hair in embarrassment.

"I ... I am not able to report to the Head Master of the Academy ... I ..."

  "Maybe it's okay, isn't it?"

Jared stretches and gets ready to leave.

"If there's nothing else, I'm going home."

"... You still won't agree to my demands? I can give you everything! Everything you want!"

"It's a shame you can't give us what we want."

Jared shrugged his shoulders helplessly, then waved his hand at Kelly and walked out.

"For the sake of our acquaintance, I hope you're safe."

After leaving an insincere blessing, Jared disappeared. Kylie stared angrily at the empty door, her teeth clenched. Indeed, Jared was right, there were so many Guardians and warriors who could have protected her, why did she have to choose the two of them? Was it simply because they knew each other, and had spent a few days together in life and death? No, absolutely not ... But, Jared's attitude, but instead, provoked Kylie's anger.

Wait and see! I will, I will make you say yes!!!!

Although Kelly was swearing almost vociferously inside, Jared rightly didn't hear any of it, and he didn't have the ability to read people's minds.

  (I agree with you ...)

Caroline had heard Jared and Kelly's conversation and voted for it.

(Now all we have to do is find Kura and get her to help us get out of the Forest of the Dead.)

Caroline accompanied Tawana as she answered Jared's questions. They didn't stop there, after all, Tawana still needed to take her magic major, and since she hadn't made a decision yet, it was good to look around. So they made their way to the gates of the other tower, the Tower of Emerald Green.

Unlike the door of the Tower of Darkness, which no matter how you look at it is the exclusive decoration of a haunted house, the doorway of the Tower of Emerald Green clearly shows the owner's unique elfin style. The tall wooden doorway is wrapped with verdant vines, the flowers on both sides of the doorway sway in the wind, and a burst of charming fragrance comes to the nose, making people feel relaxed and happy.

  "So beautiful ..."

Tawana was gazing at the Emerald Green Tower, but in the past, due to her status as a trainee Magic Envoy, she was only able to look at it from afar. But now that she had finally become a full-fledged Magic Envoy, she was naturally qualified to come here. Unlike the Tower of Darkness, the Tower of Green exudes a vibrant aura, and even a tired person will feel refreshed and relaxed when they come here.

Unfortunately, the idiom of "a great deal of fun" does not exist without reason.

"Humans! What are you standing here for? Sneaking around!"

A crisp voice came from behind, and the two turned to see a woman in wizard's robes walking towards the area, eyeing Tavana with disdain, her ears slightly shorter than the average elf's betraying her identity as a half-elf.

"This is no place for a filthy human like you! Hurry up and get out of here!"

  "I'm, I'm a full-fledged magical envoy."

Perhaps because of her opponent's aggressive attitude, Tawana returned the favor without giving in, and made a point of flashing the magical messenger badge on her chest.

"I came here to choose my cultivation! According to the Academy's regulations, I am qualified to come to the Five Yew Towers!"

"How can you, lowly humans, want to learn the art of elven magic?"

After taking a good look at Tawana's magic envoy badge, the half-elf grunted in disdain. This obviously made Tawana quite upset.

"What the hell, you're not half human ...!"

Caroline was surprised to find that, in the face of inescapable pressure, Tawana didn't seem as weak as usual, and instead was still a little ... hot?

Hearing Tawana's semi-resistant retort, the half-elf's face suddenly changed, and she reached over, wanting to grab Tawana's clothes - but was stopped by Caroline. The half-elf instinctively wanted to curse, but after seeing the beautiful face and the rare two-colored pupils, the half-elf actually lost her voice for a moment. However, it soon realized that it had lost its temper and waved Caroline away with a fierce shake of her hand.

  "You're a very special human ..."

The half-elf's glare upsetCaroline, but she remained silent before pulling Tavana behind her while looking back at the other with a disgruntled gaze. This caused the half-elf to tremble violently and unconsciously, although it was purely a self-consciousness that came from instinctively sensing the anger of an existence even more powerful than herself, but it was quickly blocked out by the vanity of the half-elf's heart. As a noble species with elven blood, how could she tolerate being terrorized by a human?

"Why are you looking at me? If you have a complaint, just say it!"

  (...)

  "What? No?"

Caroline's silence seemed to turn into a concession in the half-elf's eyes, and so it gave her the illusion of a victor in this moment. If the half-elf had left, nothing would have happened, but it was clear that sometimes vanity and stupidity could be fatal. There were already some students gathered around, they all saw the drama, but they couldn't say anything. In the Tower of Emerald Green, this half-elf had a very strong background, so even if she treated the two girls in such a way, no one dared to come forward and say anything. So they just watched from the side, silent and staring at the half-elf with protesting eyes. Instead of stopping the half-elf's behavior, it made her uncontrollable as if she had taken a stimulant. She reached for Caroline's beautiful blonde hair and yanked on it.

"But these eyes of yours are really special, come to my lab and let me study them, you should be proud of yourself for being able to interest me as a human ..."

The heavens and the earth turn.

It wasn't until the half-elf realized that her mouth had been stuffed with dirt that she realized that she had been dropped to the ground at some point, while Caroline was still standing in front of Tavana, quietly watching.

Everyone was dumbfounded by what happened at that moment.

  What the hell happened?

All they saw was the half-elf reaching out to the girl with the two-colored pupils, but the next moment they felt their eyes blink, and when they looked again, the half-elf had already fallen to the mud. Caroline's movements did not change at all, and even Tawana, who had been staying behind her, did not notice her movements.

  (Let's go, Tawana.)

  "Ah ... hmmm!"

Tavana took Caroline's hand tightly, and the two of them turned toward the door of the Tower of Emerald Green.

"Stop!!! You two lowly humans! How dare you strike at me?!"

The half-elf was obviously furious, but at the moment she didn't realize that there were already many people in the crowd around her who were also gloomy because of these words. After all, in this tower, there were not a few humans who had learned magic.

In an instant, several vines reached out and bound Tawana and Caroline firmly in place.
