"In the name of the Spirit of Magic, I, Tawana Canalot, formally recognize Mr. Jared and Miss Caroline Deidreville-Louise as my guardians, and in the company of the Spirit of Magic, we shall watch over each other, take care of each other, and assist in our mutual advancement. Praise be to the Spirit of Magic, throughout the world, in the light of the Spirit Lord of Magic, until the day of parting comes."
Accompanied by Tawana's soft speech, the parchment suddenly burned with purple flames, and then by Jared, Caroline and Tawana three people signed the contract on it so in the purple flames in the ashes, even half a bit of residue fragments did not remain. Seeing this scene, the half-elf who stood next to them, holding a feather quill for recording, nodded with satisfaction, and then solemnly wrote down the names of the three of them on the large, heavy book in his hand.
(That's a strange flame. What's keeping it from polluting? I don't even see smoke.)
"How do I know."
But the minds of the other two were clearly not focused on this sacred and solemn ceremony.
"Congratulations, Ms. Tawana Kanarot."
The half-elf closed the book, then offered Tavana her hand.
"As a magic envoy, you already have two guardians, I hope that you will be able to go farther and farther on the path of magic with their company, and I also hope that you will be able to get the green eyes of the Spirit of Magic." Tawana reached out and shook the other woman's hand, acting as if she were a mature young adult, only Jared and Caroline saw her legs trembling slightly, obviously too excited to be her own. But Tawana responded as calmly and slowly as she could." Thank you very much for your blessing."
"Ah, how nice, Tawana. You've got such a wonderful guardian."
When the three of them walked out of the place called the "Contract Room", Perla, who had been waiting at the door, quickly complained to Tawana. From Tawana's introduction, the two of them already knew that the lively short-haired girl in front of them was Tawana's roommate and classmate. At the same time, she was also a good friend who talked about everything, according to Tawana, Pera's affinity for the spirit of magic was much higher than her own, and she had even stepped one foot into the door of a magician. So she envied Perla for that.
"Aren't you the same? Perla? I heard you say your father was going to find you some guardians. What happened? Why don't I see any?"
"Hey, don't mention it."
Perla makes a helpless gesture.
"They're sweaty guys with scars all over their faces, but my dad says they're a man's badge of honor, and that it's not manly if they don't have a few scars. But I hate it. I feel sick every day when I'm followed by a muscular guy like that. If only I could be like you, Tawana, with a beautiful girl like Caroline and a man like Jericho, I'd be so envious."
"Caroline, are you being a little bit too blind to see me?"
Jared was looking at the beautiful lawns and fountains along the corridor's stone pillars, but he was not sure what to make of it. There seemed to be more and more people throughout the academy, and occasionally you could see a few girls followed by heavily armed mercenaries, presumably their guardians. But it looked more like guards, and when Jared paid attention to it, he realized that there were quite a few guards in the whole academy. Some were with the wizards, some were away from them, and there were all sorts of different races. When he shifted his curiosity to a beautiful elf with pointed ears, she seemed to sense him, and Jared hastily turned away, collecting his breath before she could sweep her eyes over him.
"Hey, Brother Jared, that's because you haven't seen my guardian ... I don't really want to call him a guardian ..."
Perla grinned broadly and reached out to pat Jared on the shoulder, then wore an apocalyptic expression. Just then, a low baritone voice sounded from behind her.
"Ms. Pella, you're late."
"Huh!!!"
Perla jumped like a frightened bunny as she turned in near panic to face the man in front of her. Jared and Caroline, on the other hand, stared in amazement while guarding Tawana behind themselves, an inexplicable sense of danger and tension welling up, making both of them a little nervous.
Standing behind Perla was a solid man with bronze skin, standing two meters tall. He had long hair and a beard. His face was covered with scars of all sizes, but he looked extremely powerful. Behind his back, he carried a huge sword that was even taller than him. His whole body looked full of strength and power, and the visible muscles on his arms showed how strong this man was.
But what caught Jared and Caroline's attention was not how powerful the man was, but ... that he was wearing women's clothing.
Her body was like a giant bear, but it seemed to be stuffed into a barely sized maid's uniform, stretching the already skinny maid's uniform tightly. Moreover, this middle-aged man was wearing white stockings and red leather shoes underneath. Behind his waist, there was also a large and somewhat exaggerated bow tie.
This is just weird!
"Mr. Shocter!"
Perla's voice sounded more like a desperate wail.
"Didn't I tell you to wait for me in your room? And, didn't I tell you to change out of these clothes?!!!"
"Since you never returned, I was worried that something had happened to you, so I came out to see if something was wrong. And I'm sorry I couldn't comply with your request, Ms. Pella. Your father thought it would be more convenient to take care of you, and I'm just following orders. If you can't get used to it, please do so as soon as possible. Also, I would like you to call me by my alias, Linda."
"Woo ..."
Petra took a step back, her face reddening. She could even feel the sympathetic glances coming from the three Jared's behind her, but what could she do now?
"And these three are?"
Noticing the giant man looking at her, Caroline subconsciously took another step back, hiding herself behind Jared as did Tavana.
"Ah, this is Tawana. My classmate, and brother Jared and sister Caroline are her guardians."
"Hello, Mr. Jared, Miss Caroline."
"Ah ... you ... good."
Jared was already blacking out at the sight of the man giving them a ladylike salute with the hem of his skirt, and Petra, the direct victim, looked like she was about to foam at the mouth and pass out. But the man, apparently with no desire to tangle with them, turned around and lifted Perla onto his shoulders as easily as a kitten.
"Ms. Pella, your class is about to begin and you can't be late."
"Get off me! Shukat! Now, right now!!! I can walk alone!!!"
Perla flailed her hands desperately, but like a kitten caught in the grip of a giant bear, she was completely defenseless.
"I can't do that, Miss Pella. If I let you go, I'm afraid you'll run away again. And, in this case, my name is Linda."
"No... to... ah...!!!"
And Jared and the others, there was nothing to be done but to pay silent tribute to that far-off figure.
(I will never, never, never fight him!)
For the first time, Caroline was so determined to escape.
"... So what you're saying is, where's the spirit of shared suffering between ... that ... partner that made me face that? "
("Only this, I'll never do it.)
Caroline shook her head desperately, and looked like she'd been hit pretty hard. It was no wonder that she had always stayed away from things that were not aesthetically pleasing, and a figure that challenged the bottom line like this would make even Jared dizzy, not to mention Caroline, who was much more demanding in this area, and much more delicate in her nerves.
After that, Tawana pulled Caroline back to her room to chat, and after instructing Caroline to reveal a little bit of the two's setting to Tawana, Jared left the room in boredom; after all, it was a girl's room, and it was a bit boring for a guy to stay in there.
Jared just wandered aimlessly through the academy, taking in the beautiful scenery. Then, when he came to a small river, Jared stopped in his tracks.
"You've been following me for so long. What do you want?"
Jared didn't look back, he just asked to himself. At some point, someone appeared behind him, the same elf who had sensed Jared spying on him.
"What are you?"
The elf asked, his voice as clear as a lark.
"A warrior."
Jared shrugged his shoulders.
"Warrior?"
The elf repeated the word in confusion, then shook his head.
"No way, I didn't even see you carrying a weapon! You can't be a warrior at all."
"When you saw my weapon, you were either wounded or already dead."
Jared turned and stared into the elf's clear, penetrating eyes. The elf took a defensive stance because of Jared's obviously intimidating words, and bent down to grab the hilt of her sword at her waist. But Jared had no intention of fighting her, so he spread his hands, shrugged his shoulders, and brushed past the elf to the other side of the road. The elf watched his back, his face was gloomy, then she carefully noticed the surrounding. Slowly, she took out a stone with strange runes from her waist and placed it on her forehead, then she closed her eyes. Soon, she began to talk to herself.
"It's me, yes ... it is, there's a bit of a problem, someone ..."
She was silent for a moment, then nodded.
"I know."
Then she took the rune stone off her forehead and turned away.
The wind blows through the trees, shaking the green grass. The long, soft blades of grass fluttered in the wind. Gradually, they stopped swaying and clung to something. Then Jared slowly emerged from the air, standing just a few steps away from the elf. In fact, the Jared the elf had seen was merely an image of him reflecting the condensed light. It was not a real entity. In fact, he was there the whole time. He never left. After all, a human's appearance is not covered by skin, but by light. If you're in a dark place with no light, you can't see the human body at all. It's only the light that reflects the human being. What Jared did was to move this all-important shell of light out and manipulate it to his own heart's content.
And that's the biggest fear of anyone who tries to make an enemy of Jared. Because no matter what, what they see in front of them may not be real. And without the aid of instruments, they can't even be sure that what they're seeing is real.
"It seems that it should not be looking for us ... Could it be, it's towards Tawana?"
Jared frowned as he naturally thought of Florence's death. Although both Jared and Caroline thought that it was a simple assassination. Moreover, the other party was eager to cover their tracks, so they shouldn't have gone too far. Did it look like they were going to wipe out the whole family? That's not right. That's not right. After all, neither Jared nor Caroline ever told Tavana how Florence died. And they didn't try to track them down, so they're not supposed to be that self-sensitive. Besides, if they were going to do it, they'd have had a chance to do it when Florence returned to Glory, so why wait until now? If they had killed Tavana in Glory, then Florence. Or both at the same time, wouldn't it have been easier and less risky? You know, Jared and Caroline didn't know Tawana at the time, and they couldn't even find Florence's house. It wouldn't have been hard to cover up the body with a fire or something.
Why wait until now?
Jared thought about it for half a day, but he didn't have any idea, so he didn't think about it anymore. In fact, if he could catch that elf, then Jared naturally had plenty of ways to extract information from her. However, right now, both Jared and Caroline just want to live a peaceful and simple life. They don't want to get involved. Regardless of what the other side is, what they are planning, Jared does not intend to ask, anyway, when the soldiers to block, water and earth cover.
It's just a matter of waiting.
