Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

ALEXANDER'S POV :

"Our love language is not even on duolingo…."

"Hey baby girl," Lisa said rather sultry. "I can't imagine this right now, are you drunk?" I screamed. She fidgeted due to the noise. "no ….no I'm not," her eyes held fear. "Oh Lisa," I sighed. "We have not even gotten to the party." I was not very good at taking care of a drunk Lisa. "I'm not drunk, I promise you, Jason just gave me a pill," she said at the verge of crying. "No ..no don't cry," I cooed. "And who is Jason?," I asked. "The super cute guy," she stifled a giggle.

Yh right, "let's get you home."

"No I can't leave you with Ethan alone, he's going to get drunk and leave you. I, your best friend is going to stand by you through thick and thin," she said, raising her right hand up. "o said thin …,"she giggled. "Do you get it like thin, you are thin," she laughed again. Her loud laughter brought various stares. "Yes, I'm thin, let's get you home." I carried her to her car and placed her in the passenger seat. I entered the driver seat. I stretched my hand to her for the keys. She licked it. "Ewww ….Lisa, I want the damn keys." "Oh," she blushed. "It can turn on an airplane too," she said, handing me the keys. I snatched it from her hand and turned on the car. I felt it come to life. I quickly set the gate and took off. By the time I was half the street, she was fast asleep. Great. Her cousin, Sam, was still in her apartment. I dropped her off and her car. I waited for a cab while Sam tried to have a conversation with me. I don't think I can handle that right now. "You know, I don't really think the earth rotates ….,like whaaat. Scientists really think we are stupid to generate that law." Now who is the stupid one. "I don't think it's a law sam."

"I know right," she agreed, pleased that someone supports her. I didn't even want to explain further so I let her be. We were waiting outside for my cab after I gave her the reason why she should not escort me outside. It fell on deaf ears. "You are Lisa's best friend, so it's my legal right to protect you." She has been saying that since we started the argument. I just gave in and here we are.

"You know when I was little the moon followed me growing up. I realized the moon follows everyone." "Still stupid," I muttered, and she turned quickly. "Did you say something, sorry I didn't get you." A taxi parked in front of the house, my cue to leave. I jerked up immediately. "That's mine," I ran to the cab relieved and happy. "Let's hang out later li," she called after me. "The name is Lexi and no," I said, giving a sweet smile. I sighed mentally. Tough game, I gave myself a mental high five. It was worth it.

I already wore the red dress in Lisa's house and touched my makeup. I took a black heel, the most comfortable one which didn't fit my taste. It made me look over confident. I was outside the club which was booming with loud music. I inhaled and walked in praying Ethan isn't drunk. I spotted him easily. He was playing a game with another guy. Yes he's drunk and now he's playing cards. poker. Who brings a fucking poker to a club.

I went beside him "hi," I said not loud to interrupt the game. He turned looking pleased to see me. "You losers are down, my queen is here," he said. A proud smile grazing his face. "You are going to let her play?" A random guy asked with irritation evident in his voice. "Damn no, she's a woman," he said, matching the same irritation. I'm a woman so damn what, my feminist nature struggling to break free. I wouldn't want an outburst and tears were already threatening to spill. I could feel their stares waiting for me to react and when I did not, they continued their game but a particular stare never left. I looked up and I saw those familiar ash eyes, Liam. His eyes threatened me. He wants to see me break down and whine about it. Not giving him the satisfaction. I walked out and I heard him chuckle. I went to the bar and ordered a virgin cocktail. I communicated with the bartender about my choice of fruit and I waited. I would be driving Ethan home. I don't want to get drunk too.The bartender came with my virgin cocktail. "Thank you," I muttered. I gulped it gently. "Virgin cocktail? One would assume you were still a virgin." I checked. Those manly scents invading my space, after several attempts I finally calmed myself . "Do you have a death wish?," squealed. "Not until now," he closed his ears. I laughed. "But Cassie's voice doesn't kill you?" I said. Mentally face palming myself for mentioning Cassandra. "Oh shit kill me..I want to die every day," he said and I laughed. "Then why are you still with her," I asked, surprising myself. "And why do you care so much about my love life?" he wiggled his eyes playfully. I hit his hand playfully and he did not seem affected by it, but I felt it, ouch. "Nice city," he said. "Nah ..it's not," I laughed. "You don't have to pretend about it," I said and he laughed with me. "You are damn right, everyone is so nosy and I couldn't agree more," he said. "Honestly, like they go on about your life like the fuck they care." He chuckled. "I grew up here, you don't need to bring In details. You did?" I asked. He nodded. "I moved to settle, to get things right and now I'm back to take over my father's business," I nodded. "pa is getting old yh," I said smiling. He didn't respond. A small ache settled in his eyes. "Oh my God…I'm so sorry…I didn't mean to." He looked at me, shocked by my outbursts. He laughed. "No, you did nothing, just brought back memories," he sighed. I came down from the stool. "I know how to brighten a dampened mood," I said matter-of-factly. "You do ?" He asked, amusement dancing his orbs. I nodded. "Nothing, a fresh and peaceful atmosphere can't solve," I said. "So we are going to the beach?" He asked and he looked happy.

The innocent kind of happiness. The child's way of happiness. "Someone's in love with the beach," I said teasingly, "I'm jealous," I pouted. "Oh don't be, I would trade the beach to see you off that red dress." I felt like my air was just physically snatched from me. "I'm guessing red is the color, your outfits two times and now your cheeks." His hands caressed my cheek and my legs wobbled. My heart beat threatening to rip out from its cage. "Out …outside?" I said, clearing my throat. He moved back and smiled like he did nothing. I pushed my way past the drunken guys and pushed the exit door open. Fresh air hitting me. I took in a lot and filled the space. Liam took my air from my lungs. "Are you okay?" he asked. I turned back with a speed of lightning. He stepped back. "Calm down, it's just me," he said, his hands out replaying steps on how to calm down. It worked. I was calm. "I'm sorry you had to see that," I said. He looked at me puzzled. "Sorry?, For situations you can't control? and besides it's ok, I should be the one apologizing for triggering it," he said looking down.

"Let me make it up to you?" he asked. I laughed. "l like surprises," I said, pumping my hands. "Sure you do," he chuckled. "Let's go," he said. "What? Wait where? What about Ethan? Are we leaving the party?" I asked at once. "Woah, calm down princess," he laughed. "We are going to the beach. Ethan would be fine and yes we are leaving the party," he said replying to all my outbursts.
