Chapter 27 - chapter27

⚜️40 ADVANCE IN PATREON ⚜️

Ethan couldn't understand why Clefairy had entrusted him with the Pokémon egg. He initially thought saving Clefairy and the egg was just part of the game's storyline, and since both he and Leo had worked together, any potential reward should logically go to both of them. Confused, Ethan decided to ask Clefairy directly why she had chosen him.

"I found this Pokémon egg by accident in the mountains about a year ago," Clefairy explained. "I don't know where it came from, but I felt it was my responsibility to care for it. However, after a whole year, the egg hasn't shown any signs of hatching. I took it out for a walk today, hoping it might help, but that's when those bad people attacked me.

"I'm giving you this egg not only to thank you for your help but also because I noticed it reacts to you and Riolu. I believe that, with you, this egg will hatch soon!"

Ethan was stunned. The egg had reacted to him and Riolu? Could it be because of Aura? He recalled the faint energy he had felt from the egg earlier—it must have been related to Aura. Perhaps this egg contained a Pokémon with Aura abilities, just like Riolu. The thought thrilled him. Smiling, Ethan carefully accepted the egg, holding it close as he focused on sensing the life within it.

Meanwhile, Clefairy approached Leo with a small, translucent, light-blue stone. She explained, "I found this by accident too. It doesn't seem to be of any use to me, but maybe you can make use of it."

Leo's face lit up when he saw the item—it was a Water Stone. Evolutionary stones were incredibly rare in this world, and players seldom traded them. With this, Leo could evolve his Starmie into a formidable Starmie Gem. Overjoyed, Leo thanked Clefairy for the unexpected gift.

As the night continued, the mysterious dances of the Clefairy tribe and the soothing magnetic field enveloped Ethan, Leo, and their Pokémon in tranquility. All of them fell into a deep, peaceful sleep.

When they woke up the next morning, the Clefairy tribe had disappeared without a trace. If not for the Pokémon egg and the Water Stone, Ethan might have thought it had all been a dream. Leo, however, wasn't surprised. "Clefairy rarely appear in front of humans. They must've made an exception to thank us for our help."

This reinforced what Ethan already knew: the Pokémon of this world lived faithfully to their nature. Rare Pokémon like Clefairy were seldom seen, and those associated with omens or disasters only appeared in extraordinary circumstances. It was all part of the game's immersive design.

On their second day at Mt. Moon, Ethan and Leo chose not to leave immediately. Instead, they explored the mountain, venturing into both caves and jungles. They encountered many wild Pokémon, including Geodude, Rattata, Bellsprout, and Diglett. They also observed the habitats of various Pokémon tribes. The day felt more like a relaxing hike than an adventure.

With Riolu's Aura, they discovered several unexplored caves. Though most yielded only ordinary items, the thrill of exploration kept them engaged. During their journey, Riolu detected another cave, but this one was different—it emitted faint traces of life energy. Intrigued, Ethan and Leo decided to investigate.

The cave was pitch black, making it impossible to see anything without light. However, using Aura, Ethan and Riolu were able to map out the entire area. The cave was small, just a few square meters, and completely barren. The faint life energy Riolu had detected seemed to emanate from beneath the ground.

Guided by Riolu, Leo began digging at the source of the energy. He worked carefully, removing the soil bit by bit to avoid damaging anything hidden below. After some effort, they unearthed a piece of red amber—a specimen strikingly similar to the Old Amber from Pokémon lore.

Riolu confirmed that the faint life energy was indeed coming from the amber. It seemed likely this was a fossil containing the remains of an ancient Pokémon that could potentially be revived.

Ethan smiled at Leo. "You should take it. I've already received the Pokémon egg, and this discovery is yours."

Leo hesitated but eventually accepted the amber, grateful for Ethan's generosity. Just as they finished, the Pokémon egg in Ethan's arms began to shake violently. Recognizing the signs of hatching, they hurried out of the cave to ensure the process went smoothly.

A brilliant light erupted from the egg as it began to crack. Ethan held his breath, anticipating the Pokémon within. However, as the light faded and the hatching completed, Ethan was puzzled—he still felt as though he was holding an egg. Then he saw the newborn Pokémon: it was a Togepi, whose rounded body and shell made it resemble an egg even after hatching.

The moment Togepi opened its eyes, it looked at Ethan, feeling the warmth of his arms. It wiggled happily, clearly bonding with its new trainer. Both Ethan and Riolu sensed a faint Aura emanating from Togepi—it wasn't strong yet, but the potential was there.

Togepi, the Spike Ball Pokémon.

It absorbs the positive energy of others and shares it with those in need. Its Ability: Serene Grace enhances the effects of its moves.

Ethan smiled, cradling Togepi gently. "Welcome to the team," he said softly.
