Chapter 1 - The poor disciple

Chapter 1: The Poor Disciple

Lin Tian woke up early in the morning, before the sun had even risen. He lived in a small, run-down hut on the outskirts of the sect, and he had to start his day early in order to complete all of his chores.

Lin Tian was a disciple of the Heavenly Sword Sect, and he had been a disciple for five years now. Despite his dedication, he had never shown any particular talent for cultivation. His master had always said that he had a poor constitution, and that he would never be able to achieve great things in the world of cultivation.

But despite his lack of talent, Lin Tian was known for his striking appearance. His hair was a pure, snowy white, and it fell to his shoulders in loose, flowing waves. His eyes were a piercing blue, and his features were chiseled and refined. He had a strong, athletic build, and he carried himself with a quiet confidence.

Many of the female disciples in the sect secretly admired Lin Tian for his looks, but he had never been interested in any of them. His focus had always been on his cultivation, and he had never had time for romance.

As Lin Tian finished his chores and prepared to start his training for the day, he heard a voice behind him.

"Lin Tian, you are needed by the sect leader," the voice said.

Lin Tian turned to see one of the sect's inner disciples standing behind him. He nodded, wondering what the sect leader could want with him.

He followed the inner disciple to the sect leader's chambers, wondering what lay ahead.

As he entered the room, he was shocked to see the sect leader coughing and puking blood. The sect leader looked quite sick, his face pale and clammy.

"Lin Tian..." the sect leader gasped, his voice weak. "I want you to...go retrieve...the Moonlight Blossom herb."

Lin Tian's eyes widened in surprise. "Sect leader, are you okay?" he asked, concern etched on his face.

The sect leader waved his hand weakly. "Don't worry about me, Lin Tian. Just...just bring back the Moonlight Blossom. It's...it's the only thing that can save me."

Lin Tian nodded, wondering why the sect leader couldn't just send one of the inner disciples to do the task.

But as he turned to leave, the sect leader called out to him.

"Lin Tian, be careful on your journey.

Lin Tian nodded,This could be his chance to prove himself and show the sect leader that he was more than just a poor disciple.

As Lin Tian left the sect leader's chambers, he couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and nervousness. He had never been on a mission before, and he wasn't sure what to expect.

As he walked through the sect's courtyard, he noticed a figure waiting for him by the gate. It was a young woman with long, flowing silver hair and piercing emerald green eyes. She was dressed in a sleek black robe, and she carried a pair of curved swords at her waist.

"This is Liu Mei," the sect leader's voice echoed in Lin Tian's mind. "She is one of our sect's most skilled disciples, and she will be accompanying you on your mission."

Lin Tian nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. He had been worried that he would be going on the mission alone, but with Liu Mei by his side, he felt more confident.

Liu Mei smiled at Lin Tian, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Let's get going, Lin Tian," she said. "We have a long journey ahead of us."

And with that, Lin Tian and Liu Mei set off on their mission.

As they walked, Lin Tian couldn't help but steal glances at Liu Mei. She was even more beautiful up close, and he found himself feeling drawn to her. But he quickly pushed the feeling aside, reminding himself that they were on a mission.

"So, Liu Mei," Lin Tian said, trying to sound casual. "What's the plan for our mission?"

Liu Mei smiled, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Our mission is to collect a rare herb called the Moonlight Blossom," she said. "It only blooms under the light of the full moon, and it's said to have powerful healing properties."

Lin Tian's eyes widened in surprise. "That sounds like a tough mission," he said.

Liu Mei nodded, her expression serious. "It won't be easy," she said. "But I have faith in us. We can do it."

Lin Tian felt a surge of determination. With Liu Mei by his side, he felt like they could conquer anything.

As they continued on their journey, Lin Tian noticed that Liu Mei seemed to be leading him deeper into the forest. The trees grew taller and the path grew narrower, until they were walking single file.

Suddenly, Liu Mei stopped in her tracks. "Wait," she whispered, her eyes scanning the surrounding trees. "Do you hear that?"

Lin Tian listened, and soon he heard the sound of rustling leaves and snapping twigs. It sounded like something was moving through the underbrush, heading straight for them.

As they stood there, a figure emerged from the underbrush. It was a tall, muscular man with a ruggedly handsome face and piercing blue eyes. He had a strong jawline and a small scar above his left eyebrow. He was dressed in a simple white robe, and he carried a large wooden staff in one hand.

"This is Jian Hong," Liu Mei said, her voice neutral. "He's a wandering cultivator who's been traveling through these woods for months."

Jian Hong nodded at Lin Tian and Liu Mei, his eyes narrowing slightly as he took in their appearances.

"What brings you two to these woods?" he asked, his voice deep and rough.

Liu Mei smiled, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

"We're on a mission to collect a rare herb called the Moonlight Blossom," she said. "It's said to have powerful healing properties."

Jian Hong's eyes lit up with interest.

"Ah, I've heard of that herb," he said. "It's said to be incredibly rare and difficult to find. But I might be able to help you."

Lin Tian's eyes narrowed slightly as he took in Jian Hong's words. He wasn't sure if he could trust this stranger, but he was willing to listen to what he had to say.

"What do you know about the Moonlight Blossom?" Lin Tian asked, his voice cautious.

Jian Hong smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement.

"Let's just say that I've been searching for it for months," he said. "And I think I might know where to find it."

As Jian Hong finished speaking, Lin Tian's eyes narrowed slightly. He wasn't sure if he could trust this stranger, but he was willing to listen to what he had to say.

"I'm listening," Lin Tian said, his voice cautious.

Jian Hong smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement.

"My cultivation base is at the 5th level of the Qi Refining stage," he said. "I've been searching for the Moonlight Blossom for months, and I think I've finally found a lead."

Liu Mei's eyes widened slightly at Jian Hong's words.

"5th level of the Qi Refining stage?" she repeated. "That's impressive."

Jian Hong shrugged, his expression modest.

"It's nothing special," he said. "But I'm willing to help you two find the Moonlight Blossom. In return, I want a share of the herb's benefits."

Lin Tian hesitated for a moment, weighing his options. He didn't know if he could trust Jian Hong, but he also didn't want to pass up the opportunity to find the Moonlight Blossom.

"Alright," Lin Tian said finally. "We'll accept your offer. But if you're trying to deceive us, you'll regret it."

Jian Hong grinned, his eyes glinting with amusement.

"I'm not trying to deceive you," he said. "I just want to find the Moonlight Blossom and benefit from its powers."

Liu Mei nodded, her expression serious.

"Let's focus on finding the Moonlight Blossom," she said. "We can discuss the details later."

Lin Tian nodded, his eyes locked on Jian Hong.

"Let's get moving," he said.

As they set off, Lin Tian couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead. He was a 3rd rank Apprentice Alchemist, and Liu Mei was a 6th level Qi Refining cultivator. Jian Hong was a 5th level Qi Refining cultivator. Together, they made a formidable team.

But as they journeyed deeper into the forest, Lin Tian couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. He glanced around, but saw nothing out of the ordinary.

Still, the feeling persisted.

To be continued.
