Chapter 3 - Unknown power

"My name is Xiao Yue," she said. "And I'm here to help you on your quest."

Lin Tian's eyes narrowed with suspicion as he gazed at Xiao Yue. There was something about her that didn't quite add up.

"What do you want?" Lin Tian asked, his voice cautious.

Xiao Yue smiled, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

"I want to help you," she said. "I've been watching you from afar, and I must say, I'm impressed. You three are quite skilled."

Liu Mei's eyes narrowed, her hand on the hilt of her sword.

"What makes you think we need your help?" she asked, her voice wary.

Xiao Yue chuckled, her eyes glinting with amusement.

"Oh, I think you'll find that you need all the help you can get," she said. "The road ahead of you is fraught with danger, and you'll need all the allies you can get if you're going to succeed."

Jian Hong's eyes narrowed, his hand on the hilt of his sword.

"We don't know anything about you," he said. "Why should we trust you?"

Xiao Yue's smile faltered for a moment, and Lin Tian saw a flash of something in her eyes. Something that looked almost like... desperation?

"I'm willing to prove myself," Xiao Yue said, her voice steady. "I'll help you on your quest, and if you don't trust me by the end of it, then you can leave me behind."

Lin Tian, Liu Mei, and Jian Hong exchanged skeptical glances. They didn't know what to make of Xiao Yue, but they couldn't deny that they could use all the help they could get.

"Alright," Lin Tian said finally. "You can join us. But if you betray us, you'll regret it."

Xiao Yue's smile returned, and she nodded eagerly.

"I won't betray you," she said. "I promise."

But as Lin Tian looked into her eyes, he couldn't shake the feeling that Xiao Yue was hiding something. Something big.

As they journeyed on, Lin Tian couldn't help but keep a close eye on Xiao Yue. He didn't trust her, not yet, and he was determined to uncover her true intentions.

Xiao Yue, for her part, seemed to be enjoying the journey. She chatted amiably with Liu Mei and Jian Hong, laughing and joking with them as if they were old friends.

But Lin Tian wasn't fooled. He saw the way Xiao Yue's eyes flicked towards him, the way she seemed to be studying him. He knew that she was hiding something, and he was determined to find out what it was.

As the sun began to set, the group made camp in a small clearing. Xiao Yue helped Liu Mei and Jian Hong gather firewood, while Lin Tian stood guard, his eyes scanning the surrounding area for any signs of danger.

As the night wore on, Lin Tian found himself growing more and more uneasy. He couldn't shake the feeling that Xiao Yue was waiting for something, that she was biding her time until the perfect moment to strike.

He glanced over at Xiao Yue, who was sitting by the fire, her eyes fixed on the flames. She seemed lost in thought, but Lin Tian knew better. He knew that she was plotting something, and he was determined to catch her in the act.

Just as Lin Tian was starting to relax, he heard a faint rustling in the bushes. He turned to see a figure emerging from the darkness, a figure that Lin Tian recognized all too well.

It was Wang Jian, the cultivator they had defeated earlier. But this time, he was not alone.

Wang Jian emerged from the darkness, his eyes blazing with fury. He was not alone, as Lin Tian had suspected. Behind him stood a group of shadowy figures, their faces obscured by hoods.

"You think you can defeat me?" Wang Jian sneered, his voice dripping with malice. "I have the power of the Dark Sect behind me, and I will crush you all!"

Lin Tian drew his sword, his eyes locked on Wang Jian. Liu Mei and Jian Hong stood beside him, their own swords at the ready.

"We're not afraid of you," Lin Tian said, his voice steady.

Xiao Yue, who had been sitting by the fire, suddenly stood up. Her eyes gleamed with a fierce light, and she drew a small dagger from her belt.

"I'll take care of the others," she said, her voice low and deadly. "You three focus on Wang Jian."

Lin Tian's eyes narrowed, but he didn't have time to question Xiao Yue's motives. The shadowy figures behind Wang Jian charged forward, their own swords flashing in the moonlight.

The battle was intense, with all six combatants exchanging blows and dodging attacks. Lin Tian, Liu Mei, and Jian Hong fought in perfect sync, their movements fluid and deadly. Xiao Yue, meanwhile, darted between the shadowy figures, her dagger flashing in the moonlight as she took them down one by one.

Wang Jian, however, proved to be a formidable opponent. His sword sliced through the air with deadly precision, and his dark energy attacks sent Lin Tian, Liu Mei, and Jian Hong stumbling backward.

But the three cultivators refused to give up. They fought back with all their might, their swords clashing with Wang Jian's in a flurry of steel and sparks.

As the battle raged on, Lin Tian began to feel a strange energy building up inside him. It was as if his body was responding to the intensity of the battle, and he could feel his power growing with every passing moment.

Suddenly, Lin Tian's sword flashed with a brilliant light, and he felt a surge of energy course through his body. He struck out at Wang Jian with all his might, and the other cultivator stumbled backward, his eyes widening in surprise.

As Lin Tian struck out at Wang Jian, his sword flashed with a brilliant light that seemed to cut through the very fabric of reality. The air around them seemed to ripple and distort, as if the sword's energy was warping the void itself.

Wang Jian stumbled backward, his eyes widening in shock and fear. He had never seen anything like this before, and he didn't know how to defend against it.

Lin Tian's sword, it seemed, had tapped into a deeper level of power. It was as if the sword had become a conduit for the fundamental energies of the universe, allowing Lin Tian to wield powers that were beyond the comprehension of mortal men.

The sword's energy continued to build, creating a vortex of distorted space-time that seemed to pull everything towards it. Wang Jian stumbled backward, his feet seemingly rooted to the spot as he struggled to resist the sword's power.

Liu Mei and Jian Hong watched in awe as Lin Tian's sword continued to shine with an otherworldly light. They had never seen anything like this before, and they didn't know what to make of it.

Xiao Yue, however, seemed to understand what was happening. She watched Lin Tian's sword with a keen eye, her expression intent and focused.

"This is the power of the Void Cutter," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "A sword that can cut through the very fabric of reality itself."

As she spoke, the sword's energy reached a crescendo, creating a blast of distorted space-time that sent Wang Jian flying backward. The other cultivator crashed to the ground, his body motionless and still.

The battle was over, and Lin Tian stood victorious. But as he looked down at his sword, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. What was the true nature of this power, and what were its limits?

As Lin Tian stood victorious, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The power of the Void Cutter was unlike anything he had ever experienced before, and he wasn't sure if he could control it.

Xiao Yue approached him, her eyes gleaming with a knowing light.

"You have tapped into the power of the Void Cutter," she said. "A sword that can cut through the very fabric of reality itself."

Lin Tian looked at her in surprise.

"How did I do that?" he asked.

Xiao Yue smiled.

"You have a natural affinity for the Void Cutter's power," she said. "But be warned, Lin Tian, this power comes with a great cost. Each time you use it, you will lose a piece of yourself."

Lin Tian's eyes widened in shock.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

Xiao Yue's expression turned serious.

"The Void Cutter's power is not to be trifled with," she said. "It is a power that can destroy entire worlds, and yet, it is also a power that can be used for great good. But each time you use it, you will lose a piece of your soul. Eventually, you will lose yourself completely."

Lin Tian felt a chill run down his spine. He had never heard of such a power before, and he wasn't sure if he was ready to wield it.

But as he looked down at the Void Cutter, he knew that he had no choice. He had to master this power, no matter the cost.

"I'll do it," he said, his voice firm. "I'll master the Void Cutter's power, no matter what it takes."

At the same time he suddenly remembered the true purpose of their quest: to obtain the Moonlight Blossom.

He turned to Xiao Yue, who was watching him with an intent gaze.

"The Moonlight Blossom," he said. "Where is it?"

Xiao Yue nodded, a small smile playing on her lips.

"It's nearby," she said. "Follow me."

She led them to a small clearing, where a delicate white flower bloomed in the center. The flower glowed with a soft, ethereal light, and its petals seemed to shimmer and dance in the moonlight.

Lin Tian's eyes widened in wonder as he approached the flower.

"This is it," he breathed. "The Moonlight Blossom."

Xiao Yue nodded, her eyes gleaming with a knowing light.

"Yes," she said. "This is the legendary Moonlight Blossom. Its petals hold the power to heal even the most grievous of wounds."

Lin Tian reached out a hand to touch the flower, but Xiao Yue stopped him.

"Wait," she said. "We must be careful. The Moonlight Blossom's power is not to be trifled with. We must harvest it carefully, lest we damage its delicate petals."

Lin Tian nodded, his eyes fixed on the flower. He knew that they had to be careful, for the Moonlight Blossom's power was a precious gift.

Together, the four of them carefully harvested the Moonlight Blossom, taking care not to damage its delicate petals. As they did, Lin Tian felt a sense of pride and accomplishment. They had succeeded in their quest, and they had obtained the legendary Moonlight Blossom.

But as they stood there, admiring their prize, Lin Tian couldn't shake the feeling that their journey was far from over. The Moonlight Blossom's power was not to be trifled with, and he knew that they would have to be careful how they used it.

To be continued.
