The sun was already high in the sky when I woke up. A soft golden light bathed the room, but a knot persisted in my stomach. The day before, Ezran had opened his heart to me under the big oak tree, and his words still resonated within me. "You matter to me." This simple phrase carried a weight I hadn't been able to handle at the moment.
I got up with a sigh, determined to start the day differently. In the kitchen, Anna was already bustling about, as usual. The familiar smell of freshly brewed coffee filled the room.
"Murielle! You're finally up!" Anna called, a warm smile lighting up her face. "Come have a cup."
I sat at the wooden table, trying to hide my nervousness. "Anna, I was thinking… maybe I'll make breakfast today."
She looked at me, surprised. "You? But that's a wonderful idea, dear! What do you have in mind?"
I shrugged, getting up to rummage through the cupboards. "I don't know yet. Toast, eggs, maybe some fruit… something simple."
