Chapter 4: A Morning Surprise
Ava woke up early the next morning, feeling refreshed and rejuvenated after a good night's sleep. She got dressed and headed downstairs to start her day.
As she walked into the bakery, she was surprised to see Liam sitting at a small table by the window, sipping a cup of coffee and reading the newspaper.
Ava's heart skipped a beat as their eyes met, and she felt a flutter in her chest. "Good morning," she said, trying to sound casual despite the surprise.
Liam smiled and set down his newspaper. "Good morning," he replied. "I hope I'm not too early. I wanted to try some of your famous pastries."
Ava laughed and nodded. "You're not too early at all. Let me get you something."
As Ava worked on preparing Liam's order, they chatted easily about everything from the weather to their shared love of music.
Ava found herself feeling more and more at ease around Liam, and she couldn't help but notice the way his eyes crinkled at the corners when he smiled.
As Liam finished his pastry and prepared to leave, Ava walked him to the door. "Thanks again for the delicious treat," he said, smiling down at her.
Ava smiled back, feeling a sense of connection with Liam that she couldn't ignore. "Anytime," she replied. "Maybe I'll see you around town again soon?"
Liam's eyes locked onto hers, and Ava felt a spark of electricity run through her body. "I'd like that," he said, his voice low and smooth.
As Liam turned and walked away, Ava couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and possibility. She had no idea what the future held, but she couldn't wait to find out.
