Chapter 10 - A Moment of Truth

The morning sun streamed through the windows, casting golden rays onto Ji-eun's desk. She walked into class, her mind swirling with emotions from the night before. Ji-hoon's confession had left her breathless, and for the first time in years, she felt genuinely seen. But with the charity event just a day away and her duet with Jungkook looming, she had no time to dwell.

"Ji-eun!" Ji-hoon called as she entered the classroom. He smiled at her, his eyes warm and reassuring.

"Good morning," she said, her voice soft as she slid into her seat.

Their friends, Min-seo and Hyun-woo, noticed the subtle shift between them immediately. "Whoa, you two seem... different," Min-seo teased, leaning closer.

Ji-hoon smirked. "Maybe we are," he said cryptically, making Ji-eun's cheeks turn pink.

Hyun-woo, as clueless as ever, changed the subject. "Ji-eun, aren't you supposed to rehearse with Jungkook today? You've got to tell him I'm his biggest fan!"

Ji-eun laughed. "I'll try to remember, Hyun-woo."

---

The lunch bell rang, and the group headed to their usual table. Ji-eun felt Ji-hoon's gaze on her the entire time, and it made her heart race.

"You're ready for tomorrow, right?" Ji-hoon asked, sitting beside her.

"I think so," she replied. "But it's not just the performance. It's everything—us, this new friendship with Jungkook, and people expecting so much from me."

Ji-hoon leaned closer, his voice low so only she could hear. "You don't have to figure it all out today, Ji-eun. Just take it one step at a time. And remember, I'm here for you."

Her heart swelled at his words. "Thank you, Ji-hoon. That means a lot."

---

After lunch, Ji-eun headed to the music room for her final rehearsal with Jungkook. He was already there, casually strumming his guitar.

"Ji-eun!" he greeted her with his signature bright smile. "Ready to make magic?"

She laughed nervously. "I hope so. I've been practicing nonstop."

Jungkook set the guitar aside and walked over to her. "Relax. You're amazing, and this song is going to be unforgettable. Just let yourself enjoy it."

As they began to rehearse, Ji-eun felt her nerves melt away. Jungkook's voice blended perfectly with hers, and together they created a harmony so powerful it brought tears to her eyes.

"See?" Jungkook said after they finished. "You've got this. You're more than ready."

Ji-eun smiled, feeling a surge of confidence. "Thank you, Jungkook. That means a lot coming from you."

"Don't mention it. And hey, after tomorrow, we're celebrating. My treat."

---

Later that evening, Ji-eun found herself on the rooftop of the school, gazing at the stars. The city lights twinkled below, and the cool night air brushed against her skin. She closed her eyes, letting the moment calm her racing thoughts.

"Mind if I join you?"

She turned to see Ji-hoon standing there, his hands in his pockets.

"Of course," she said, smiling.

He walked over and sat beside her, the two of them sitting in comfortable silence for a while.

"Are you nervous about tomorrow?" Ji-hoon finally asked.

"A little," Ji-eun admitted. "It's not just the performance, though. It feels like everything in my life is changing all at once."

"Change can be scary," Ji-hoon said, "but it can also be the best thing to happen to you. Look at you now—you're doing things you never thought you could. You're amazing, Ji-eun. And I... I'm proud of you."

Ji-eun turned to look at him, her heart pounding. His words were simple, yet they meant the world to her.

"Thank you, Ji-hoon," she said softly. "For always believing in me."

"Always," he replied, his voice filled with quiet certainty.

As they sat there, the stars above seemed to shine a little brighter, and Ji-eun felt a sense of peace she hadn't felt in years. For the first time, she truly believed that she was enough—just as she was.

The chapter concludes with Ji-eun feeling ready to face the challenges ahead, supported by her friends, her idols, and a boy who saw her for who she truly was. Tomorrow's performance would mark the beginning of a new chapter, not just in her life but in her heart.
