Becca had to face the consequences of her actions all by herself.
Over ten people are protesting outside the presence room, all with questions about what will happen in ten days.
Philly and CJ were pushing them back, trying to give Becca alone time to think. But she couldn't think with the constant shouting outside.
"Where is the other leader." Shouted a woman who had recently joined the village.
"Are we safe here?" Said the man who was here for only two days.
"Are you just going to let that royal asswipe walk over us?" Said the man who lived for three years.
Despite the pressure and stress she felt, "LET THEM IN!" She shouted at Philly and Cj.
In a few seconds, ten people came charging in with complaint after complaint. Every time she answered one question, another needed to be answered.
Anger, fear and desperation. Those were the feelings the people felt when they had a question.
Until finally most of them got frustrated and left the presence room. Six families stated that they were going to leave this village because they felt like she didn't care about their families.
It was getting fairly dark and despite that, Becca didn't leave the room. Given the mixed reaction she received, she chose to stay indoors for a bit.
Despite Cj and Philly insisting that she go home and rest for tomorrow, she replied with, "Don't worry, I will." But hasn't left the room since.
That is when an old flashback occurred of her husband and her.
(Flashback four years ago)
Becca was watching her husband getting his armor ready. Today was the day he was going to fight in the frontline against the Midblade Kingdom.
His sword and shield rest against the door, engraved with old human English.
Emily was sleeping on her mother's lap while Becca asked, "How long will you be gone?"
Her husband Johnathan, turned to her and said, "No clue, but given that Midblade is losing supporters by the day. We might be done by the end of December." He states.
Becca gently lowers Emily on the chair and approaches Johnathan, "Please come back, Neverport needs a strong leader to help us in our dark times." Said Becca.
Johnathan turned around with an unhappy expression on his face. He walked up to her and gave her a tight hug, "You need to look after everyone while I'm gone. I don't know whether or not I will be back." She said.
Becca gently pushed him away, unable to meet his gaze after what he had said, "Don't say that, I'm just-", but Johnathan placed his hands on her shoulders and continued, "I believe in you, Becca. Not just me, but everyone knows you are capable of leading the village while I'm gone. Besides, you won't be alone; everyone will be there to help you. But you need to be willing to help them in return."
He pulls her in for a kiss before pressing her head against his, "You got this love."
(Flashback ends)
Becca's eyes open to the warmth of her daughter resting on top of her. She looked around and noticed that she was back home.
Most likely Cj and Philly doing she thought.
She glanced at the table with dinner prepared with an awful but cute drawing of herself and Emily.
When she looked at Emily's face, she noticed Emily was crying.
Was it because Becca wasn't home?
Did her friends bully her?
Or...was it because she was scared?
Becca recalled her flashback and looked at Emily, "I'm not like Johnathan or Axel, who have the strength to lead. I'm no warrior or savior, just somebody trying to hold things together but seems to fail at it."
She held Emily tightly and whispered, "Despite that, I won't let anything bad happen to you or to anyone I hold dearly." She glanced at her ring before clenching her fist, "I will keep you all safe."
