Ellie's expression was incredibly serious as she carefully read through the instructions. This was her first time using a pregnancy test.
It was only natural. She had always had a regular menstrual cycle, and she and Simon had always been careful about contraception. Until now, she had never once worried or even considered the possibility of being pregnant.

Simon was a meticulous man. He was more careful about contraception than anyone else when they were intimate. Even when he was drunk, he never crossed the line.
Ellie hesitated for a moment but then unwrapped the test kit and headed to the bathroom. As she waited for the results, holding the urine-soaked test stick, her heart beat even more frantically.
