"Falling down those stairs won't cause a miscarriage. You'll only hurt yourself, Ellie."
It was truly an awful thing to say, but Mindy wanted to use Ellie's child. She needed to put even a small dent in that seemingly perfect man's reputation to safely bring Sujin back as her own child. She wanted to help Ellie give birth to the child, if only to use it.
That was her thinking when she made the deal with Simon.
"Seeing you look like you're about to collapse any moment, I can't bear it."
Mindy made a decision and reached out to Ellie.
"Give me your phone."
The dazed Ellie obediently handed over her phone. It was frustrating to see her acting like a criminal when she hadn't gotten pregnant alone. After giving birth to Sujin and being pushed around, Mindy learned that meddling was a luxury. Still, she couldn't just stand by.
"Whatever decision you make, I'll help you. Call me if you need anything."
