Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 2: Holding Onto Happiness

"Danie, Good morning."

"Good morning my Love." The chivalry girl responded with a tease.

"You want to tease me? I won't let you off the hook." Michan began running after her in attempt to catch her. Danielle being an amazing athlete, her running skills were incomparable to Michan's. She ran towards a certain park-like area that emitted a feeling of peace and nature. It had towering trees with strong branches that created peaceful calm shades for an amazing picnic.

"Danie, where are you running to? That is the restricted area!"

"I know!" Danielle rung back in ecstasy. "It is! That's why it is crazy fun to be here. When all the students can't be here, I am and you too now." Michan sighed slowly and totted nearer to the childish girl in front of her.

"Are you crazy? Little girl, look here. When they find us here it will no longer be crazy fun but crazy trouble. Now follow me out of here." Michan picked up her hand and made attempt to lead her out of the area when Danielle pulled her along to a further spot adored by a very gigantic tree. "My love, what you don't get is that no one will stop us from being here." Michan was confused now. The chirpy girl gave her a winsome grin and continued. "You don't know yet? (chuckling) I have connections around here." Danielle completed her statement with wagging eyebrows. She was such a fun girl; just what Michan needed in her painful life.

Michan gave in finally to Danielle's repetitive nudges and sat alongside her on the mat-like grass and immediately got engrossed in their chit-chat of future plans which turned to be hilarious and pulled incessant giggles out of them. Their competition with the birds in making the area noisy was quite a draw.

Michan;

Staring at my lovely chirpy new found friend, I could not ask for more for myself as of now. All I wished for was my mother to get the same chance to find happiness. The past years have been worse for her as only fake smiles ever receded from her. Ever since we left this place, mother has never been the same again, she smiles at me, makes jokes but it all seems so empty; emotionless. How I miss her, her old self!

"Hey my love, what are you thinking about that you have ditched our fun time conversation? It's as if am talking to myself or a block of stone or concrete." Danielle pouted so cutely making Michan chuckle heartily making the pout grow and a frown forming. She felt satisfied with making Danielle pout just the way she enjoys teasing her with the address 'My love'.

Danielle stubbornly refused to stop calling her 'my love' just to keep teasing her always and earn a gorgeous smile after a cute pout and frown. Michan claimed that she hated the way Danielle addressed her even in public but she always smiled after all the complaints and frowns.

...~.......

Michan typed back to a text.

"Hey Bestie, when are you reaching? Am tired of waiting. Make it sooner, I have missed you for a year now."

Another year had bitten the dust since Michan arrived in Kielen. Lots of drama had unveiled but fortunately Danielle was there to fight alongside Michan and together they ensured to win and have fun against all odds. Of course, it wasn't a piece of cake but they were two wings of the same bird, soaring into battle together. Love between them was not a mere friendship but strong sisterhood. Their bond was a skyscraper, touching the clouds and defying gravity. It was unbreakable!

"Danie!" Michan squealed in total excitement. Right, ever since Danielle dived into Michan's life, she became very chirpy and chivalrous as she was in her childhood before they left for the other province.

"What's up girl? My love tell me quick!" This had been Michan's wish for long. She missed her one friend she ever had in the other province. Danielle recognized this and ensured to make a connection between the two friends in a physical long distance friendship but not distance between their friendship.

According to Michan's enthusiasm, Danielle sighed understanding the unsaid words of her friend. She hugged her happily. Danielle witnessed that the whole day her darling friend was so lively beyond what she ever saw. Unbeknownst to Michan, Danielle was so much more happy than her than she thought. The past year witnessed Danielle's interactions with Michan's best friend being a gentle rainfall, nurturing a secret garden of feelings within her. Unbeknownst to Michan, Danielle's crush had blossomed, its tender petals unfolding like a rose in bloom, filling her heart with the sweet, intoxicating scent of love for him.

...........

"Kristine, a new hunk has joined our campus. You have to see him." Sophia brought the news to Kristine as always. Nothing would happen at campus without Sophia's knowledge. She was well known for her talent of having every update on her finger tip as if she was the campus satellite and hence won herself the nickname 'Campus Satellite'. To their surprise, Kristine smiled knowingly. They did not know that she knew the new hunk more than they thought. "Kristine, tell us. Do you know the guy?" She smiled as an answer and walked away leading them to the cafeteria.

At the left corner of the lively cafeteria, the duo of Danielle and Michan busy speaking with a handsome guy seated adjacent to them was very much an easy sight. He had a smooth skin complexion, tanned skin, raven hair, limpid crystal eyes and relevantly succulent slightly thin heart sexy lips. He was equally engrossed in their chatting when Kristine walked to their table. Her steady gaze was stationary on the seated hunk hence ignoring his duo companions.

"Care if I sit?"

"Kristine go away. Do not cause a mess on this wonderful bright day." Danielle whisper yelled through gritted teeth. She did not want to cause a scene in front of her crush. Her first love, to be exact. As she still contemplated on what to do, the next actions of their handsome companion after looking at the intruder got her completely off guard and dumbfounded.

"Kristine! I thought you won't be here today." He spoke in such a way of ecstasy that it hurt Danielle. Michan saw through Danielle's poker smile and realized the love she had kept hidden from her judging from the pain she saw eating her up. 'Did Danielle fall for him?' Michan was now worried about her friend who was obviously hurting within.

The hunk called them jolting them from their space of thoughts. "Pal! Bestie! Meet my girlfriend, Kristine!" The three got all shocked. Michan though, had sensed this the moment he smiled heartily on looking at Kristine but she still prayed it does not be true. Her Danielle was breaking at the moment. The tears that welled up in those beautiful coffee brown eyes threatened to poor and Michan was on the verge as she withstood it. 'What should I do?' She thought to herself in confusion.

"Pal? Bestie?" It was now Kristine's time to get shocked and confused. She felt her pull-neck shirt tighten almost choking her and now the cold was creeping thrrough her open navel to her previously proud heart. She thought earlier that Michan and Danielle were trying to hook up with the new hunk so her appearance was deep blow to them but she now thought otherwise. Unbeknownst to her, her appearance was indeed a blow but not in her line of thinking.

He answered her happily. "Yes Love. Michan is my Bestie, like best of friends and Danielle here, she is my Pal, like Pen-pal. Long distance friend but closer than one can imagine." he answered with ease.

"Do you know each other?" He was now turning curious.

The trio girls glared at each other as the tension in the cafeteria grew around them.

..........

...........

Back to the Wedding day;

"Wow! She's hot! a slim handsome red head complimented the beauty dressed in the feather-soft cyan off shoulder evening dress.

"Stop it! Stop drooling over our friend's newlywed wife." Another muscular red head reprimanded.

"C'mon Jason! You know what happened. She isn't the right bride so no harm even though I hit on her. Sure Ginn won't mind."

"Claus, what won't I mind?" Ginn asked in a straight heavy voice. He seemed to be holding back a burning rage.

Jason tried to pacify the rising fiery tension in the air. "Nothing Ginn, he was just joking." Claus cared not about Jason's trials and ruined it all. He just spoke his mind. "But Bro, I'm right. Even though I hit on that beauty, it is okay. It's not that you love her. The one you love and were supposed to marry is Kristine. I don't know how it came that you married that hottie but what I know is that she just saved you from shame a while ago. Good enough, few knew your true bride's face and name. Right?"

Jason saw something in Ginn's eyes that hinted of jealousy that even Ginn himself did not realize. He sensed a storm rising so he tried to prevent it. "Claus stop!"

"No Jason, it's okay. Let him talk his crap and then later he will remember that she is my wife. Now Claus, do not dare try anything fishy with her. For now, she is mine. I hope we are on the same page, right?"

"Jason, why is Ginn being selfish or is he just being a two-timer."

"Claus, do not push me to punch you on my very own wedding." Ginn growled a threat and walked away to accompany his bride. He slid his arm behind her back and held her waist gently, softly but claimingly. She shot her fierce glare at him. 'How dare he?' Her inner conscience commanded a slap but could she?

Was he really jealous? Was he already falling for his stand in?
