Chapter 3: Eat!
3 days passed quickly, and the second the guards left for good... The young man took action.
'NOW!' He shouted in his mind as, with swift movement, he climbed to the top of the golden hill and opened the chest with no difficulty.
'Now that I think about it... Why does this chest have no key?' His mind raced, but his movements didn't stop as he took the fruit, closed the chest, and walked down the hill slowly so as not to cause any movement and alert those outside or leave it as a clue for them to find him.
Once he had hidden himself, he looked at the fruit in his hands, and excitement raced through his veins.
A devil fruit, the miracle that made many weak and unknown individuals turn into legends, the small fruit that had only been a normal apple changed shape to become what it has become.
What it was and what it could possibly do was something Ken had no way of knowing, but one thing was sure: it was the key that could take him out of this predicament.
"Eat or not to eat." This was the question, and the answer was...
*Om* *NomNomNom*
"Ugh! It's worse than they describe it." Ken almost threw up everything he ate.
Knowing that the fruit would taste bad, he tried to eat it in one fell swoop, but it tasted horrendous.
However, before he could even forget the taste, his head started spinning and his eyes rolled upwards before he fell with a small *thud*
Fortunately, the guards had yet to come, and they had no way of knowing about him.
When Ken woke up, the first thing his mind led to was the change he felt in himself; it was as if he had not one, not two, but countless hands that he could use to do anything he wanted.
This expressed the limitless potential the fruit gave him, but he couldn't guess what exactly this fruit was just from this.
He wondered why he went unconscious when he ate the fruit, because when Luffy ate his, there was no such effect, nor was there such an effect for any other fruit user.
But now that he had successfully woken up, he wondered what he could use to discover the abilities of his fruit.
It wasn't a Logia fruit, nor was it a Zoan fruit as it was neither related to an element nor was it related to an animal.
So that left one option, and it was Paramecia.
That was all he could say right now, and from the way his eyes were working right now, he understood that at the very least it had something to do with analytics.
He could relax and return to normal, and just as easily he could turn his brain and eyes on, but what was the exact result of that? He wasn't sure.
"I will know if I mess around enough." He said.
He looked from the little hole, and seeing how the guards were both sitting and talking to each other, he knew that they wouldn't notice if he were to get up and go to the end of the room.
So he did just that, and once he was there, he looked around.
Gold, weapons, armor, food, and all sorts of items were thrown around the room, same as in all the other corners, but this place was hidden from the entrance by a huge golden hill of treasures.
Looking around, the first thing his eyes fell on was a sword. It wasn't the same sword he liked, but it was eye-catching nonetheless, and the reason his eyes led him to it wasn't because it was special, but because his powers were speaking to him.
"Hmm? Could it be..." He thought to himself as he approached the sword.
Holding it in his own hands, he started slashing around skilfully.
Having spent 17 years on a battlefield meant that he was at least well rounded in the art of combat, and using a sword was something he learned before he reached the age of 5.
"Hmm... Something... Something feels wrong." He stopped and looked at the sword. He rotated it around and wondered what was off.
In all the years he had used a weapon, this was the first time he felt that something was wrong.
"Is this..." Was this related to his devil fruit? Was this the effect?
This is what he wondered as he once again got into position, but this time something was different.
Unlike last time, this time he had turned off the function that he had only recently gained.
The ability to make his eyes take in the information from all around and for his brain to run on overdrive.
Before he could even strike, his face twisted to make way for a smile that would thrust fear into the heart of any human.
What did the smile of someone who had never smiled before look like?
Utterly terrifying.
"I understand it now!" These were the words that left the mouth of the young man, as in a movement so swift it cut through the wind, he slashed forward.
"Huh? Did you hear something?" On the other side of the room, a guard stopped talking and said.
"It's just the waves. So what was that about the red-haired beauty?" The other person who also heard the sound wasn't as surprised and asked.
"Ah, yeah." And so the duo went back to talking about their deeds.
"Just you wait." Ken steeled himself to focus on the task at hand and spoke with a scary glow around his abyss eyes.
