Skylar's POV

It was much smaller than the size of the room, its walls weighing in on the weight of what we had just survived. Julian paced, his feet falling hard upon the old wooden floorboards; Jasper sat on the front of the couch, his expression impassive save the flexing of his jaw; I stood, clinging to the table edge as my knuckles whitened.

So," I said, breaking the heavy silence. My voice came out steadier than I felt. "What's the plan? Because sitting here waiting for them to come after us isn't exactly it."

Julian ceased pacing and turned to me, his dark eyes locking onto mine. "We need to hit them before they hit us," he said flatly, crossing his arms over his chest.

"No kidding," Jasper muttered, rubbing a hand over his face. "Got anything a little more detailed than that?"

Julian glared at him. "I'm working on it, alright?"
