Chapter 1 - chapter 1: life and rebirth

I died. It was August 14th, 2023. I had been shot in the back by the very people I was supposed to protect in Afghanistan. I had always been cold and knew I would die one day, but not like this. I dropped my phone after reading the last chapter of Hunter x Hunter. I stared at the sun, but the light slowly faded from my eyes, and I saw everything darken.

Year 1847

(P.S. Making it so the MC is about 150 by canon, but looks about 17 or 18. Maha is about 140, but appears much worse. The MC will become head of the family until she goes to the Dark Continent, leaving Maha as the head.)

Kukuroo Mountains, Zoldyck Family Residence

Kane Zoldyck, the current head of the Zoldyck family, stood tall—6 foot 8. A large man, even for an assassin. His father once joked that he would be a better demolitions expert than an assassin. His buzzcut white hair gave him a sharp appearance, and a few people stood around him, staring quietly at the door. His father, a man of about 60 years with tinted glasses and curly white hair, had a trickster-like personality. His mother, cold and aloof at 55 years old, was a top assassin in her own right. Kane's three siblings were also present, all waiting for the birth of the next generation of the Zoldyck family.

Suddenly, the door burst open. "It's a girl," someone said, but there had been some complications with the birth. In an instant, we rushed into the room. My sister began performing healing with her nen ability, Angel's Hand. I quickly rushed to her side and took the child in my hands. I looked down at her—she had a tuft of white hair and one blue eye, as deep as an abyss, and one golden eye, radiating a sense of danger. Just as I expected.

Then my sister spoke, "I don't think she's going to make it. She's suffering from too much internal damage." I sighed. "Too much injury from that last job. Not worth the risk. She's lucky to be alive after giving birth at all with her injuries not fully healed. It would take at least five to ten years to heal properly. Creatures from the Dark Continent aren't worth the money to assassinate."

Suddenly, the maid standing beside us began to look as if the life had been drained from her. She crumbled into dust. The light traveled through my daughter and into my wife, causing both of them to pass out. My father frowned. "So many of our family members have come into contact with or gone to the Dark Continent. Whether this is a blessing or a curse is yet to be seen."
