Chapter 88 - Little Pan Mountain

The power of the B-grade alloy iron arrow, in the hands of someone with innate divine strength, had reached an astonishing level.

Boom!

The iron arrow, spinning rapidly, tore through the air and shattered the brick wall in front of him with an explosive sound.

Roar!

A snowfield ice wolf rushed out of the building. Its body was an imposing ten meters long, with fur as white as snow. Its towering figure was formidable, and its ice-cold blood-red eyes shot two beams of red light, as large as a bowl, directly at Kent.

Kent was shocked. These red beams were even more powerful than his spiral arrow attack and much faster.

"What the hell? A 47-level Golden Middle-tier Monster, the Snowfield Ice Wolf?"

Kent immediately summoned Wukong. This beast was no joke and required serious attention.

"It has four abilities: Eye Beams, Stealth, Ice Spitting, and Close Combat."

Kent's heart tightened, but his battle spirit surged. This trip out of the city was precisely to hone his combat skills and improve his techniques.

As the ice wolf charged toward him, Kent shot another arrow, then stowed his bow and took out a battle knife and shield. He jumped onto Garfield and charged forward, with Wukong following closely behind.

With his mental state strengthened, Kent found it much easier to control two beasts simultaneously. Thanks to the system, he could share their abilities as well.

Both sides rushed toward each other.

"Kill!"

Kent leaped high into the air, using Wukong's jumping ability to reach the ice wolf's rear, while Garfield flanked from the side. Wukong confronted the beast head-on.

The ice wolf collided with Wukong, but due to the level difference, Wukong was sent flying. However, it managed to block the wolf's momentum.

At that moment, Garfield fired off wind blades. More than ten large wind blades, each as big as a door, launched toward the beast. The ice wolf swiftly deployed a massive ice shield to defend, but with a crack, the ice shield shattered, leaving countless cracks across its surface. However, the wind blades were now exhausted.

Seizing the opportunity, Garfield charged forward, burning energy to unleash a deadly critical strike. Its claws extended to the size of large swords, slashing a three-meter-long gash across the ice wolf's body.

The wolf let out a pained roar and swung its body, attempting to tear Garfield apart. But Garfield nimbly dodged the attack.

Kent followed up by leaping into the air and delivering a devastating blow to the ice wolf's rear, inflicting another deep wound.

Despite its massive size, the ice wolf was no match for the agility of its opponents. It kept receiving injuries, blood spilling across the snowfield in a terrifying amount.

However, the ice wolf's close combat abilities were formidable. Its reflexes were quick, and its monstrous instincts made it difficult to land a decisive blow, forcing Kent and Garfield to be on guard. Several times, they were injured in return.

At one point, Garfield was struck and sent flying dozens of meters, stirring up a flurry of snow.

Ten minutes later, the ice wolf, having suffered too many wounds and bled excessively, collapsed from exhaustion. It was also hungry, and with its strength dwindling, it finally fell.

Kent, panting heavily, stood leaning on his sword. This was a battle for life and death.

His eyes gradually brightened, and after recovering his composure, he began collecting the spoils of the fight. Due to the limited space in his storage ring, he couldn't fit the entire beast, so he only took its heart and four paws. He also gathered some of its meat to feed Garfield, knowing that it would greatly help with Garfield's experience growth.

"The blood mixed with the cold wind will soon attract other monsters."

Kent didn't waste any time. He quickly left the area.

After running for more than an hour, the sky began to darken. Garfield, not built for endurance, was tired and needed rest.

As a top student from the Inspection Academy, Kent was well-versed in wilderness survival. He set up camp in a cave on a nearby hill, covering the entrance with leaves and using animal fat to start a small fire. The fire wasn't large, but it provided enough warmth to stave off the extreme cold inside the cave.

Kent set up a tent on the dry ground, ate a little food, and soon fell asleep.

His hearing was sharp, so he placed Garfield inside the cave to keep watch. Though Garfield was nearly four meters long, after being expertly disguised, it only took up the space of about half a meter, barely noticeable.

The night passed peacefully, and Kent woke up the next morning, ate a bit more food, and continued his journey. His destination was Little Pan Mountain, located about 200 miles outside of Earthstar City.

There was a small-scale dungeon near Little Pan Mountain. Originally, it had been intended to be occupied, but the environment was too harsh, with air unsuitable for humans to breathe. It was also too resource-poor, so people abandoned it. This left the area with a considerable number of monsters, as they hadn't been disturbed by human activity.

Of course, mercenaries still ventured here. Although the terrain was treacherous and the mountain paths winding, money was a strong motivator.

Kent had already traveled more than 100 miles yesterday and set out early this morning. After half an hour, he finally reached his destination.

Looking up at the mist-covered Little Pan Mountain in the distance, Kent let out a sigh of relief. The journey had been somewhat monotonous.

As he approached the base of the mountain, Kent slowed down and began walking quietly with Garfield, drawing closer.

"That's the entrance to the dungeon," Kent muttered.

Looking up, he saw a gray cloud mass floating above Little Pan Mountain, with a dark, mysterious entrance hidden within. The cloud mass was nearly 100 meters off the ground.

"I heard that there's something valuable in this dungeon, like the Tomb Mushroom, a type of fungus that grows underground. It looks like a grave mound, with the earth bulging as it grows. It gets its name from the resemblance to a tombstone."

Kent's purpose for this journey, aside from honing his skills, was to gather Tomb Mushrooms. It was said that these mushrooms contained a mysterious substance that could strengthen one's bones, making the skeletal system more resilient.

Tomb Mushrooms were highly sought after. A one-year-old mushroom could fetch 500 credits, while a ten-year-old one was worth 50,000 credits. A hundred-year-old mushroom was extremely rare and could be sold for five million credits.

While Kent's physique had undergone considerable enhancement during his training, his bones remained average. He was worried that a powerful strike could lead to fractures or internal bleeding, something he couldn't afford to let happen, especially given the potential dangers ahead. Even his beasts could benefit from the Tomb Mushroom.

Suddenly, a yellow-brown shadow flashed past Kent, and he caught a whiff of a foul odor.

"That's the Yellow Weasel, the Yellow Weasel King."

Kent frowned. Before the mutation, the Yellow Weasel had been known for its high intelligence. Now, decades after the mutation, it had become far more clever and much more difficult to deal with.
