Chapter 73 - Twin Eggs

"Kent, are you really going to buy me a beast? A golden-tier one, too?"

Zhou Yun was shocked. "A golden-tier beast egg is worth at least tens of thousands, and a good one can cost over a hundred thousand. That's too expensive. How about we get a silver-tier beast for a few thousand credit points instead?"

Earthstar City covered a vast area, nearly three times the size of Microglow City, with a population of 70 million, making it the second-largest city in the world.

The largest city is New Delhi in India, with a population approaching 100 million. It's said that the slums occupy about a third of the city's area.

Earthstar City, with its vast land and large population, is the foremost center in Asia, a bustling metropolis that boasts everything, including underground black markets, specialized auction houses, and monster markets.

At this moment, Kent was pulling Zhou Yun through an hour-long journey to the monster market.

"Ah Yun, you're talking too much," Kent said, ignoring his chatter and starting to look around.

The monster market was vast, with many stalls, but there were also a dozen or so large stores. Some sold nutrients and evolution agents, others sold monster hybrids, and there were even shops selling beast eggs.

Without hesitation, Kent led Zhou Yun into one of the shops selling monster eggs. Buying a grown beast would be too expensive, and with his Beast Evolution System, hatching a monster was a breeze.

"Welcome, sir. Are you looking for monster eggs? What tier or type are you interested in?" a male attendant approached.

Kent glanced at the shelves filled with monster eggs, each marked with a price tag. "I'll take a look first. I'll call you if I need help."

The attendant nodded and stepped back.

Zhou Yun, however, was curious. Kent was taking him to buy eggs, but monster eggs were uncertain. There was no guarantee they would hatch, and even if they did, there might be defects in the offspring.

He held back his worries, suppressing his curiosity.

The store was enormous, with all kinds of monster eggs on display—flying birds, ground beasts, aquatic monsters, even fungal creatures. There were eggs of varying tiers: from bronze-tier eggs costing a few hundred credit points, silver-tier eggs in the thousands, golden-tier eggs worth several thousand, and even a few celestial-tier eggs, priced anywhere from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands.

Celestial-tier eggs were extremely expensive, and most beastmasters couldn't afford them.

Kent began scanning the silver-tier eggs with a focused look.

"Songbird egg, silver lower tier, has charm and voice-changing abilities."

"Purple fire porcupine, silver mid-tier, has reflective armor and flying spike abilities."

"Five-claw pangolin, silver upper tier, has digging and stone armor abilities."

"..."

Kent continued scanning the monster eggs, going through over a thousand of them, but none were suitable for Zhou Yun.

"It looks like we'll have to check the golden-tier eggs," he muttered.

Monster species underwent mutations, and though most abilities remained similar across the same species, some had enhanced or altered abilities.

Kent was looking for one with stealth or camouflage abilities and, in addition, good combat potential.

Just as he was about to move on to the golden-tier eggs, his eyes lit up, and a look of surprise appeared on his face.

"Look at this one," Kent said, pointing to an egg in front of him. "I think I found something interesting."

Zhou Yun was puzzled. "Isn't that just an ordinary hawk egg?"

"High-spiral hawk, silver upper tier, typically flies above 3,000 meters. It has rapid spiral flight and long-range vision abilities. Because of its unique feathers, it can bend light and gain temporary invisibility. However, this type of beast is not suitable as a familiar, because once it flies high into the sky, the bond with its master weakens, and it can easily fly away."

Zhou Yun continued, "If it were an adult high-spiral hawk, it would be fine; it could carry a person. But as a hatchling, it can't carry anyone yet, and training it to fly is tricky. If it escapes, it would be a huge loss."

Kent smiled and nodded, not saying much but responding, "None of that is a problem. With me around, there's nothing we can't solve."

"Alright then, I'll trust you," Zhou Yun agreed.

"Attendant, I'll take it," Kent waved his hand.

...

After leaving the monster egg shop, Kent went to buy some high-level evolution agents and nutrients, then headed back home.

"Ah Yun, I'll hatch this egg for you. Come by tomorrow," Kent said.

Zhou Yun didn't have any objections but felt a bit of anticipation. Kent seemed confident he could hatch the egg today. It seemed too good to be true—how could it be so simple?

After seeing Zhou Yun off, Kent took out the monster egg, and a system interface appeared with the egg's attributes.

"Hint: A mutated High-spiral Hawk egg discovered. This is a twin egg, containing a pair of twin hawks. After hatching, the two hawks will share a mind connection, with shared vision. They will have invisibility, cloud-piercing, pouncing, and long-range vision abilities."

"This was a good buy—one egg, two hawks," Kent thought with satisfaction and immediately authorized the system, consuming six pounds of Garfi's blood essence to hatch the egg.

As the shell cracked open, two little hawks broke through, curiously gazing at the world around them.

Kent observed them for a moment before feeding them continuously. After consuming all the evolution agents and nutrients, both hawks' experience reached 100,000 points.

"Evolution."

With a flash of golden light, the hawks grew noticeably larger. Although they were only at level 1, they emitted the aura of a silver upper-tier beast.

"They're ready," Kent exhaled. To help Zhou Yun, he had gone all out, spending enormous time, energy, and money to raise two high-quality, silver-tier monsters. He was confident they wouldn't disappoint.
