Chapter 1 - God Pet Evolution System

"Hello everyone, I'm Kent, 34 years old, a novelist suffering from writer's block. After staying up for several nights, I made no progress. I remember that night it rained heavily, with strong winds and lightning ravaging the sky, frightening anyone who looked at it. But my tired body kept typing on the keyboard. Suddenly, a few drops of blood fell from my nose onto the keyboard, soaking it, and my vision blurred. The exhaustion overwhelmed me, and I fell into a deep sleep..."

"I actually crossed over!" Kent woke up, absorbing the memories in his mind, and was shocked to realize he was in another world.

This world, called "Earth Star," is 99% similar to Earth. However, decades ago, spiritual energy began to revive, and various otherworldly spaces connected with Earth. All plants and animals started evolving crazily into legendary monsters.

The only beings that didn't evolve were humans.

Thus, the apocalypse arrived! Humans on Earth became food for all the monsters.

Just as humanity was on the verge of extinction, a pioneer named "Kant" discovered that humans could form contracts with monsters through a mental connection, controlling and commanding them while also sharing the monsters' extraordinary vitality and powers.

This groundbreaking discovery initiated the era of Beast Masters, where anyone could contract a monster as their pet.

Powerful Beast Masters emerged one after another, saving humanity from extinction and keeping the flame of civilization alive.

With the efforts of generations of Beast Masters, humanity reclaimed some cities, building enormous steel cities as a home for survival and reproduction. Outside these cities, countless monsters still ruled.

Generations of Beast Masters fought bloodily on the front lines, fighting for humanity's space to survive.

...

Kent had crossed over into a body that shared his name, belonging to a high school senior who was studying how to tame beasts.

"You're really pathetic, getting beaten so badly! If I get the chance, I'll avenge you!" After absorbing the memories of his predecessor, Kent couldn't help but feel sorry for him.

The previous owner of this body was also a loser—an orphan whose parents were low-tier Beast Masters. They died while exploring the wild, leaving behind this body.

As a result, the previous owner had a self-conscious and sensitive personality. He secretly admired the school's top beauty, a genius girl, and wrote a love letter to confess his feelings.

But before he could give it to her, a bully in his class found it, mocked him, and spread it all over the school, turning him into the laughingstock of the entire school.

Unable to stand it, the previous owner challenged the bully. Unsurprisingly, the bully's monster beat him up badly, which was the catalyst for Kent's successful crossover.

"Meow, meow, meow!" Just as Kent was going through the memories of the previous owner, a ridiculously fat orange cat came to his feet, impatiently rubbing against them, as if urging him to do something.

"This is my tamed beast?" Kent couldn't help but laugh and cry as he looked at the fat orange cat. From the previous owner's memories, he already knew this cat was his first contracted beast.

The cat, named "Da Huang," had been raised by the previous owner since childhood. After becoming a Beast Master apprentice, the previous owner successfully contracted it, turning it into his first tamed beast.

Currently, this cat was only level 6, and aside from eating, Kent couldn't see any other abilities.

"While others start with a Kun, I get stuck with a fat orange cat?" Kent had a helpless look on his face. No wonder the previous owner got beaten by the bully's monster. From the previous owner's memories, his classmates' monsters were all at least level 10, with the strongest having level 20 leader-class beasts. A single beast from them could probably defeat a hundred of Da Huang.

Urged by the hungry fat orange cat, Kent reluctantly filled its food bowl with cat food. Watching the cat devour it greedily, he felt a deep sense of despair about his fate after crossing over.

Ding!

"Host's emotions have reached the system's trigger threshold. The Divine Pet Evolution System has successfully bound."

At this moment, a voice with no emotional fluctuation sounded in Kent's mind. A silver, illusory interface appeared before his eyes, with various changing data floating on the screen.

"What is this? A system?" Kent was stunned and quickly began checking the data on the interface.

The silver interface displayed what seemed to be Da Huang's attributes.

Da Huang.

Owner: Kent.

Beast Species: Yellow Fury Cat.

Beast Level: 6.

Beast Rank: Bronze.

Beast Age: 2 years.

Abilities: 1. Enormous Appetite 2. Paw Crush 3. Explosive Escape.

"No wonder it's so useless!" After seeing Da Huang's abilities, Kent couldn't help but feel frustrated. The fat orange cat had almost no abilities except for eating.

Just then, Kent noticed two more lines of changing data under Da Huang's attributes.

Experience Points: 800/1000.

Experience Pool: 800.

"What does the experience pool mean?" Kent was puzzled. On the silver interface, Da Huang's experience points were rapidly changing, quickly rising from 800 to nearly 900, while the experience pool also synchronized to 900.

As Kent puzzled over this, he continued watching the data change and discovered the reason for the experience point increase.

At the bottom of Da Huang's interface, a line of text kept appearing.

"Your pet Da Huang ate low-quality cat food. Experience points +20."

"Your pet Da Huang is continuously eating low-quality cat food. Experience points +25."

"Your pet Da Huang feels disgusted by the low-quality cat food and harbors resentment toward the owner. Experience points +15."

"Da Huang's experience points are increasing just from eating?" Kent was shocked. But what was with the resentment toward the owner? How could emotions increase experience points?

Soon, Da Huang's experience points exceeded 1000, reaching over 1200, yet Da Huang showed no visible changes or upgrades.

At this point, Kent noticed a "Level Up" button next to the Beast Level section.

"Could it be…" A guess formed in Kent's mind. Focusing on the "Level Up" section, he gently tapped the button.

The experience points disappeared like flowing water!

The 1200+ experience points Da Huang had accumulated instantly turned into just over 200, and Da Huang leveled up from level 6 to level 7.

Its body, which was only a few centimeters long, grew to over 20 centimeters, and its physical qualities improved.

"Success! Haha, I'm destined to become the greatest Beast Master in history!" After a brief moment of shock, Kent's face lit up with ecstatic joy, laughing out loud.

"Who's that yelling in the middle of the night? Have some decency!"

"Another crazy one!"

Kent's shout woke up many residents in the neighborhood. In the middle of the night, lights flickered on in several apartments, and various voices could be heard.
