Harmony was moving side wards and then moved again from her bed.
She was unable to sleep even though it was already past midnight. She was unable to forget the scene that she had experienced with Drake earlier along with his family.
She couldn"t imagine the life that they had. They were family and yet she felt the bitterness of their hearts for each other especially Drake and his Aunt Carmella.
Was it really because of money? Their wealth? She realized that wealthy people had a more difficult problem than those who needed to work in order to eat.
The rich seemed to have a worse problem than money. It seemed their emotions were centered in the material things that they have and they could even forget how they were treating other people or more often than not, their own family members.
She was a bit surprised because she had no friends with the kind of wealth that Drake Villarama had. She admitted that it was her first time to experience coming inside that elegant mansion and had that luxurious dinner.
She wondered how much all the food that was served at the table costs. She was thinking about that but for the Villarama"s, it"s just like an ordinary dinner.
Harmony let out a deep sigh.
"Girl, you are just a pretend girlfriend so you don"t really have to be attached to Drake. Remember the contract that you have with him," she said to herself. She was trying to make herself at ease because of the discussion that Drake had with his Aunty because of her.
The animosity was very obvious because it was clear that the woman didn"t like her because she was from an ordinary family.
And, Drake seemed to be in rage because of his Aunt"s behaviour towards her. Though she was affected because of how the woman looked down on her, she just actually thought that it would only last while she and Drake had a contract.
It would soon end and for now, all she needed to do was to endure her words. Though her words were not insulting they were like blades that slice her heart because of how she meant them.
Though she must admit that when they were on their way to the Villarama"s mansion, Drake already warned her but she didn"t expect that it would actually happen that soon.
She felt like her heart was being squeezed because she admitted that she was hurt because of how his family looked at her.
She didn"t deserve that. Even if she came from an ordinary family, her parents raised her well and she had integrity. That"s all she could say to the people who looked down on them.
She had already proven a lot of times that happiness was not always the source of happiness of the people. Sometimes, there was more meaning than money.
Like having a family who understands each other unlike the Villarama"s. It was clear that the family had a feud that couldn"t be solved by their money.
She even had a strong feeling that their disagreements were also because of the money they had.
Harmony must admit that the old woman, Drake"s grandmother, was so different from the other people that were there.
The head of the family seemed to be kind and had a big heart. She could feel that in every word that she said in their first meeting.
Harmony could say that Drake was blessed to have a grandmother like her. Though she couldn"t help but think why the old woman made a condition to Drake before the man could get his inheritance. What did she have to do or should she ask, what did Drake do to make the woman give him that kind of condition?
Harmony and Drake met each other in a coffee shop where Paul had left her. She was unable to refuse his tempting offer that"s why she needed to go with him to their mansion.
She didn"t know but she felt like she already regretted agreeing with their deal because of the sudden stress that she felt.
She didn"t know for how long she could even stand the rudeness of his Aunt and she was afraid that she might answer her back which just put Drake in trouble.
In fairness to Drake, the man really got her back. She was thankful because the man actually defended her to the minced words of his Aunt. And, that"s how everything started.
She felt like her heart was still pounding so fast she recalled everything that happened to her earlier with Drake.
She thought that Drake would be hurt by his cousins but thankfully their grandmother was there and her presence seemed to put calmness to the young people.
It seemed even though the woman was already old, Drake and the other Villarama respected her. Harmony tried to close her eyes as it was already getting late and her eye bags might swell because she lacked sleep.
If only she knew that this would all be the effect of being the pretend girlfriend of Drake, she already returned the cheque to him but she knew that it was already late to back out since she was already introduced to the family.
She couldn"t let the man down, especially that she could see how they tried to treat him earlier.
Deep inside her, she felt like she wanted to fight back for Drake when his father spoke and he insulted his own son right in front of everyone. She couldn"t believe that there was a father like Nelson Villarama.
Harmony could still remember Drake"s reaction. The man was so disappointed. It didn"t escape her eyes when Drake opened his mouth and closed it again. It was as if he knew that it wouldn"t make any sense to answer because the people around him wouldn"t understand.
So, instead of speaking, Drake held her hand and then they walked out of the mansion without a word to anyone.
