"Deep breath... just walk in. All I gotta do is act like a normal high school girl. That's it. Easy, right?"
Â
I muttered to myself, psyching myself up as I stood frozen at the school gates. My legs felt like lead, but I somehow managed to take that first step forward. One shaky step after another, it felt like I was walking straight into a blazing inferno of shame.
Â
And don't even get me started on the skirt. This breezy, unfamiliar thing swishing around my legs? Yeah, I'm not ready for that.
Â
"You can do this, Nut... Wait, no. Not Nut. Natcha. Yeah, Natcha... God, help me."
Â
If I mess this up, it's all over.
Â
Arguing with myself in my head, I forced my legs to keep moving. This was, without a doubt, one of the most humiliating experiences of my life. And what exactly was this horrifying ordeal?
Â
Walking into an all-girls school.
Â
Holy Jesus, an all-girls school! A place where someone who thinks of themselves as "a dude" has no business setting foot. Not even a little.
Â
If there was any way out, trust me, I'd have bolted. But no. No way out. If I wanted to find a way back to my old self, this was the only option. So yeah, no choice. Here goes nothing, Nut!
Â
Muttering prayers under my breath to calm my nerves, I marched forward.
Â
*Thud.*
Â
"Oof!"
Â
I'd been so wrapped up in my inner turmoil, I didn't even notice I'd bumped into someone. Classic me. And of course, because fate hates me, it had to happen now. Great.
Â
"Oh no, are you okay?"
Â
A soft, sweet voice jolted me back to reality. I looked up and froze. Time itself seemed to hit the pause button.
Â
Standing before me was a girl straight out of a fairy tale. Her golden, wavy hair was tied neatly into a ponytail, and her bright blue eyes sparkled in the sunlight, like little shards of the sky. She looked like a princess—the kind you'd see in movies—and her warm smile was practically glowing. It was so dazzling, I had to look away before it blinded me.
Â
"I-I'm fine. Sorry about that," I stammered, bowing and apologizing like my life depended on it. My face was probably as red as a tomato. I couldn't bring myself to meet her eyes, not with her beauty practically radiating high beams at me.
Â
"No worries! You must be new here, right? I don't think I've seen you before."
Â
Her voice was warm, and her expression was just as welcoming. Meanwhile, I was barely holding it together.
Â
"I'm Aqua, by the way. I'm in 11th grade. Nice to meet you! What's your name?"
Â
"U-uh, I'm Fah. Also in 11th grade. Nice to meet you too," I managed to squeak out, my voice a weak whisper. I was trembling like a scared puppy. Not my fault, okay? This was my first real conversation with a girl. Cut me some slack.
Â
"That's great! We're in the same year. I can show you around if you'd like. This school's pretty big, and it's easy to get lost if you're not familiar."
Â
Aqua smiled again and turned to lead the way. I trailed behind her silently, trying not to freak out. Spoiler alert: I was totally freaking out.
Â
You're probably wondering why someone who used to see himself as "a guy" is walking into an all-girls school. No, it's not because I'm some weirdo or creep. I really was a straight dude.
Â
Used to be.
Â
Last week, my life took a massive turn. All because of a completely normal, uneventful walk back to my dorm.
Â
### One Week Earlier
Â
It was a regular day. Nothing special. I was heading back from school, taking my usual shortcut through a narrow alley. That's when things went off the rails. Out of nowhere, I heard the screech of tires. A small white truck came barreling into the alley, slamming on its brakes. What came next was… not normal.
Â
*Bang!*
Â
A loud noise echoed as pink smoke started billowing out, filling the alley in seconds.
Â
"What the heck is this? Galaxy gas?" I coughed, flailing my arms like I was trying to swat away an alien invasion, but it was no use. The smoke wrapped around me like it owned the place, making my head spin. Before I could process anything, my knees gave out, and boom—lights out.
Â
When I woke up, I found myself in what looked like a hospital room. My vision was blurry, and my head felt like it had been stuffed with cotton.
Â
"Mr. Nut, you're awake?"
Â
A woman's voice called out. Turning my head, I saw a nurse in a pristine white uniform standing by my bed. She looked friendly, but there was a hint of worry in her expression.
Â
"Uh, where am I?" I asked, my voice groggy and weak.
Â
"You're at our company's research center. We're so sorry about the accident," another voice chimed in. I turned to see a man in a suit, looking all official and apologetic.
Â
"Accident? What accident?"
Â
"Well… There was an incident involving one of our experimental products. Unfortunately, you were exposed to it. And, um, it's had some effects on your body… significant ones," he said, his eyes darting nervously as if scanning me for a reaction.
Â
"Effects? What kind of—wait, my voice. Why does it sound… weird?"
Â
The voice that came out of my mouth was higher, softer. It wasn't mine. Not the deep, familiar voice I knew. My heart started racing.
Â
I swung my legs over the side of the bed and stumbled to my feet, despite the dizziness. Grabbing the mirror on the bedside table, I angled it to see my reflection.
Â
And then my brain just… stopped.
Â
"No way. This isn't… This isn't me!"
Â
The face staring back at me was that of a girl. A delicate, feminine face with fair skin, shoulder-length black hair, and big, wide eyes filled with panic. My hands shot up to touch my cheeks, and the hands I saw weren't mine either. They were smaller, softer. Who the hell's hands are these?!
Â
"What's going on? Why do I look like this?!" I shouted, my voice cracking.
Â
"Please calm down," the man in the suit said, raising his hands in a placating gesture.
Â
"Calm down? How am I supposed to calm down?!"
Â
"I understand this is a lot to process. We're truly sorry for what happened. The experimental drug you were exposed to was designed for gender transition. It… accidentally triggered a complete physical transformation," he explained.
Â
My jaw hit the floor.
Â
"You're saying… I'm stuck like this?"
Â
"For now. But I promise, we're working on a solution. In the meantime, we've arranged for you to attend an all-girls school where you'll be safe while we sort this out."
Â
"An all-girls school?! Are you kidding me?!"
Â
"Don't worry," he said, handing me a stack of documents. "We've taken care of everything. From now on, your official student name is Natcha, but you will be known as Fah, quite a cute name for asian heritage isn't it? You'll be attending as a regular student. Just hang tight, and we'll fix this."
Â
"Fix this?!" My legs gave out, and I collapsed back onto the bed.
Â
Yeah, this is my life now. Fantastic.
Â
