Chase awoke in the living room, surprised to find Aurora sleeping soundly on his back. It was her favorite spot, but this time she seemed undisturbed by his state of consciousness. Maybe the necklace he gave her, combined with her new powers, helped her understand that his subconscious was always active. Or maybe she was just tired, he mused, chuckling softly at the thought.
Diana was asleep in his lap, her breathing slow and steady. The living room was otherwise empty, so he assumed the other three were in Alice's room. Carefully shifting without waking Aurora, Chase picked up Diana and carried her to her bedroom. Gently laying her down, he slid into her embrace to keep her from stirring and soon drifted back to sleep.
The next morning, Chase woke to Diana moving around the bed, about to prepare for the day. He groaned and stretched, his voice lazy and teasing. "Can't we just drop out? I just want to sleep in your arms all day."
