Diana let Chase rest for a while, his head comfortably resting in her lap as she absentmindedly played with his hair. However, her stomach growled, and she realized she needed to eat before volleyball practice. Carefully, she tried to slip out of his lap without waking him, but the moment she moved, Chase stirred and opened his eyes. She sighed in exasperation as his gaze lazily followed her.
In the kitchen, she retrieved the food Chase had ordered earlier. She unwrapped the foil, recalling Alice's instructions on reheating takeout, and placed it in the microwave. Once it was warm, she returned to her room. Chase was still there, lying where she'd left him, but now he was clearly waiting for her. As soon as she sat down, he pulled her back into his embrace, resting his head on her shoulder and promptly falling asleep again.
