Pasco's thoughts turned to the day his father had
come to Bangkok. The visit had been brief but
intense. His father's cold eyes had scrutinized
every decision, every step Pasco had taken in his
life. "You've made a lot of mistakes," his father had
said bluntly. "You were supposed to be an
architect, not some lovesick fool."
Those words had cut deep.
The pressure to succeed, to follow in his father's
footsteps, had kept Pasco from truly living. And
now, he realized, it had also kept him from loving
Debbie the way she deserved.
