Felix showed up at Debbie's apartment one evening, his expression both hopeful and anxious.
"I've made my decision," he said, stepping inside.
Debbie raised an eyebrow. "And what decision is that?"
"I'm staying in Bangkok—for you," Felix said, taking her hands in his. "I'm done letting my family's expectations control my life. I want to be here, with you, for you. If you'll have me."
Debbie's heart swelled, but a part of her hesitated.
"Felix… I don't want you to resent me later."
"I won't," Felix said firmly. "Because you're not taking me away from anything—I'm choosing you. You're my future, Debbie."
Tears filled her eyes as she hugged him tightly, finally allowing herself to believe in the possibility of
happiness.
