Chapter 34 - By the Riverside

 She refused to look back at him; maybe it was because she felt if she did, he would be able to see through her. Those gold eyes of his were the hardest things in the world for her to decipher.

 

 "You don't want me to escape you, but you didn't stop me from running away and then wanted to strangle me to death for running away when you helped me. You are the hardest person to understand." Abrielle voiced out her thoughts, which made Cedric laugh, puzzling her about what was so funny about what she said.

 

 She pouted her lips, and his laugh got louder; she had to turn around to see what was so funny but was stunned to see his eyes sparkle as he laughed cheerfully.

 

 "You look cute when your face is all serious. I prefer it to the fake smile you use as a mask." Cedric said, leaving her stunned; he knew her smile was forced.
