Amelia dressed up already, she was prepared to go to work.
She checked herself in the mirror, and she was looking good.
"Nice Amelia, you can do this" She said as she went to the living room, hugged her children and left for the compound.
She entered her car and drove off to the company.
The morning traffic was hectic, but Amelia took it in her stride, navigating through the chaos with her expert driving skills. As she neared the company, the building loomed into view, its imposing structure and glittering glass windows a testament to her accomplishments.
She got to the company and the gatekeeper opened the gate for her. When she entered, they welcomed her.
She entered the office, and the secretary went in too, the secretary explained everything that happened in her absence. And she understood.
"And hope you did not forget about the conference meeting that's being held today? I was even thinking you wouldn't be able to come and I have been looking for what to do to that"
"But don't you think you should have called me to tell me about it?"
"I am sorry, I don't want to disturb you, I was even think I would go if you didn't show up"
Amelia smiled, "If honest that you are thinking of going if I didn't show up and that's very good of you"
"Alright, and now that you have showed up, can I follow you"
"Of course, it's an hour meeting and others related to us can come, at least, you would learn one or more things from there"
"Yeah, I already went to search about how the conference meeting would look like and how to go about it"
"That's so good, just have the courage to stand in the presence of crowd, them you are good to go, and moreover if you are called to present there, you aren't facing crowd, just few people and some from them you might be afraid to face because of their facial expression but do not mind that, focus on what you came to do"
Amelia's guidance and encouragement exuded from her as she mentored her secretary, a smile of pride and confidence on her face.
"Remember, you represent the company," she said. "And the company represents me. Show them the same determination and skill you've shown me since you started here."
The secretary nodded eagerly, her eyes alight with excitement. "I won't let you down, Amelia. Thank you for giving me this opportunity. I'll make the most of it."
Amelia and the secretary find their way to the compound and the company's driver drives them to the meeting scheduled.
They got there and they met people in their seats. Alexander was sitting close to a beautiful lady.
Immediately Amelia saw the lady, she breathe in and out and she was jealous
Jealousy burned within Amelia as her eyes met the sight of Alexander and the striking woman, the tension in her body palpable. Her professional demeanour barely masked her emotions as she and her secretary took their seats.
The meeting commenced, and the purposeful discourse flowed around the room, yet Amelia's mind kept straying to the mysterious woman, a growing knot of unease in her stomach. She silently wondered, trying to ignore her suspicions, who this woman could be and why she had such an effect on her.
Alexander knew that Amelia wasn't fine with it, he tried sitting in another place, even when that was the seat he used to sit on, anytime they had a meeting at that exact place, he just needed to excuse himself from that lady because he sensed that Amelia was disturbed by that.
The other attendees exchanged subtle glances, their curiosity at the sudden change in seating arrangement clear, but Amelia's attention remained fixated on the woman.
The professional atmosphere of the meeting was juxtaposed by the wildfire of emotion consuming Amelia's mind. As she glanced back at Alexander and the mystery woman, their subtle gestures and quiet exchanges seared like salt in her wounds.
"Ms. Amelia?" A voice called out, drawing her attention back to the meeting.
"Yes, my apologies," she replied, mentally reprimanding herself for the distraction.
The meeting progressed, yet Amelia's attention remained divided between the boardroom table and the intrigue of Alexander's companion.
"Ms. Amelia, is anything wrong?"
"No, nothing, I am fine"
"Can you come out and explain the issues or challenges that we are facing as of now?"
Amelia snapped back to attention, knowing she could not afford to falter in such a critical moment. With a deep breath, she gathered her focus and stepped forward, addressing the room with a renewed sense of confidence.
"Thank you," she said, her voice clear and commanding. "As many of you are aware, the past few weeks have presented our company with several challenges, including…"
Her words flowed steadily, weaving a coherent narrative of the company's situation while still wrestling with the lingering curiosity gnawing at her.
As Amelia eloquently articulated the company's predicament, her demeanour was impeccable, a mask of professionalism veiling the turmoil within. Her words carried authority and calm, reassuring the investors of the company's resilience and adaptability.
Alexander where he was sitting, he could not be more proud of her, before anyone could join their hands to clap her, she did and everyone followed.
As she concluded her explanation, she took a brief pause, her eyes flickering to the seat where Alexander's companion once sat. "Rest assured, ladies and gentlemen, that we are taking the necessary steps to address these challenges and mitigate their impact on our business. If anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to answer them."
The lady beside Alexander raised her hands up, and Alexander knew it was a set-up already, that was the first time she would be seeing the lady's in the company and the fact that she came to distract Amelia, everything seems like a set-up and it will be from no other person but from his wife.
