Amelia's gaze fell upon the hand of the mysterious woman, a surge of apprehension rising within her. As the woman rose to speak, Amelia's heart pounded harder, sensing the imminent disruption.
"Ms. Amelia, my name is Miranda, I'm an investor and I must say that I'm quite concerned about the current situation. Tell me, how do you intend to prevent such problems in the future?" Her tone was sharp, her eyes piercing.
Amelia's expression remained neutral, though her mind raced.
"What I think is that we need to educate people on the need to use more of the product produced in their country, than the product that are being export to the country"
"Okay, do they not no the need them before they keep using their product? They have to know the need, but they should be things that are should be done, in other for them to use and prefer the product being produced in the country than the other country"
"Ms. Miranda, I what you to know that we cannot lure people to buy things that are originally made in the country, all we can do is talk to them, convince them and let them know that if anything happened we are right here in the country to help them unlike the ones they are purchasing"
Amelia's arguments were measured and precise, her years of experience navigating business challenges and investor scrutiny serving her well in the face of Miranda's scrutiny. Yet, Miranda remained unswayed, her questions relentless.
"You raise valid points, Ms. Amelia, but the question remains: what assurances do we have that your strategy will be successful? I understand that we cannot force consumers to choose our products, but we must ensure that the odds are stacked in our favour, don't you agree?"
Alexander who knew it was a setup also knew that it wouldn't be easy for her, so he raised up his hands. "Mr. Alexander, let's hear what you have to say, concerning this, '' Amelia said.
"Good Day Everyone, I just need to address this issue, what's our mission in this group?..." He asked, and answered, "We do not force people to use our product but we only convince them with what we produce, yes that's it, we can only convince them with what we are making by making it very good, if the other countries are making a good product than us, and why won't they prefer them to us, nobody wants to buy or use something that's not going through"
"Thank you very much Mr. Alexander, I hope you have heard what he said Ms. Miranda and I hope we have answered your question, and if we are not feel free to ask, if anyone here has more questions, they should ask.
Amelia's diplomatic handling of the situation allowed Alexander's measured intervention to flow, the two of them working in tandem. Miranda, however, remained as obstinate as ever.
"I see your point, Mr. Alexander," she said, her expression stony. "However, I'm concerned about the implementation of this strategy. How do we ensure that these changes are not just talk, but tangible action?"
Amelia replied calmly, "Ms. Miranda, we have already begun to take the necessary steps, and I hope you are also aware that some companies sell more than those abroad companies you think? Just because they don't want to show it off doesn't means they don't sell, they do in fact 80% of people here do"
Miranda breathed In and out, and sat down. And the speaker came forward.
"Thank you Ms. Amelia, I didn't even expect you to say that, that's to show you have good years experience in this work, some people have experience but they don't make use of it, I am proud of you and anyway we would like to represent even outside the country, I had like to take you along, I love this"
Miranda was disappointed, she came to disrupt Amelia, but somehow, she did better than she expected. She was speechless and wished that she had never talked.
"And to Mr. Alexander, thank you for raising your opinion, I love it, that's a good idea, thank you all, if anyone have any suggestions, ideas, challenges any company is facing or even questions, come out and let's discuss it now"
The room erupted in applause, a recognition of Amelia and Alexander's deft navigation of Miranda's challenge. Amelia, in particular, wore the praise like a cloak of validation, her pride evident.
As the meeting progressed, the camaraderie and mutual respect among the participants was palpable, the air of tension from Miranda's questioning having dissipated.
Amelia caught Alexander's eye, a silent exchange passing between them. Alexander's nod was subtle, but his meaning was clear: 'Well done.'
Miranda, meanwhile, stewed in silence, her plan foiled.
The conference meeting ended, Amelia and her secretary went to where they parked the car.
"But who's that lady, she must know you, because it was clear that you were her target, what company is she representing"
"This is my first time seeing her in the meeting, I don't know what she came to do, but I really don't understand her, there's something she's planning on doing, like can't you see"
"That's actually bad, you should dig about her, and know where she's coming from and what she's doing, and then we would know your enemy"
"I don't care about her as far as she's not prevailing over me, I don't care dear"
"But I think you should be careful, and let me tell you I am proud of you, I can see why the boss made you handle the company, you worth it and it's a good thing to know, I will keep coming over here to build my courage too"
"That's good, and…" As they were talking, Alexander came over.
"Good Afternoon Ms. Amelia" and her secretary greeted instead.
"Good Morning sir, I hope you are fine, and thanks for helping the manager".
"You are welcome" Alexander said, "I hope you are fine, Amelia?."
I Ignored.
