We finally reached the warehouse, unfortunately it was out of the city so I had Emmet arrange a helicopter to take us there. He also got in contact with the police. I had all the information on the Emma and her family submitted to them. They are beginning to be a pain I want to get rid of immediately.
The warehouse had a few guards here and there but my men had them subdued as quietly and swiftly as possible.
I disembarked the helicopter and walked towards the door but then the police came and tried to take over the situation, saying it might not be safe to enter yet. But I can't just wait for them to assess the situation, my wife is in there and I don't know what condition she might be in.
I ignore their words and walk in to find Selene being dragged towards Emma who is about to stab her.
The police say freeze but one of my men who is a sniper had already shot Emma's hand making her drop the knife. I would have preferred a shot to the head but with the presence of the police and the fact that I had promised Grandma i wouldn't do much to the Thompson family what with her friendship with the Patriarch Wilson Thompson.
Selene looks at me with a little smile of relief whilst I walk towards her but then her eyes roll back as she collapses and I barely catch her in time.
The two siblings from hell are apprehended whilst I walk out with an unconscious Selene.
I have Emmet remain to deal with all the issues pertaining this incident whilst I rush to the car in hopes of immediately getting Selene to the hospital.
As it is now peak lunch hour, the amount of traffic on the roads are ungodly. I look towards Selene and can't help but feel guilty for not protecting like I should have. I had made a promise to Grandma that even if I were not to fall in love with her I will still protect her and take care of her like my life depended on it.
I finally reach the hospital, then rush to the emergency room. I find some nurses by the reception.
"Help my wife!" I shout to them.
One of them rushes to pull a bed. Whilst a doctor comes to check on her. He asks me what happened and I explain the kidnapping. They decide to do blood tests so as to discover what drug they had used when apprehending her.
We are then taken to a room. Just as the nurses had Selene settled properly on the bed Emmet walks in.
"Well the police are handling the situation. Your father called. He said that there was no need for involving the police over a harmless prank."
I looked up a him from beside my wife's bed when he said those words. If it weren't for the fact he was my dad, I would have dealt with him a long time ago.
After a thorough check up, the doctors discovered that she's covered in bruises due to rough handling, is overdosed on the Chloroform the administered on her and has a mild concussion.
Grandma came in to check on her along with Mrs Smith. I couldn't look Grandma in the eye because the promise I made to her months ago keeps ringing in my head. I should have paid more attention.
But regret and guilt won't take me anywhere, so I'll take this as a lesson and will do better to take care of her.
When Mrs Smith saw her, she began to cry as the image of seeing Selene on the hospital bed reminded her of the past. Of when Selene's parents and her husband were in the hospital.
My Grandmother comforted her. I just continued to hold Selenes hand until my parents came.
Before the had the chance of causing a scene in my wife's room I escorted them outside so we could talk.
"Son, I believe you are exaggerating. There was no need of involving the police over a harmless kids prank." my father said and my mother agreed. She went on to say, "Cancel the charges, your aunt and uncle are worried about their. Okay they've learnt their lesson. It's unnecessary to make them have to spend the night in jail. Moreover, I don't think Selene would want that. If she couldn't even handle such a harmless prank what makes her suitable to be your wife. This is why it would have been better if you had married Emma right from the start. None of this would have happened to that child." She was about to say more when a voice asked.
"A harmless prank?" We turned to find My Grandma and a heartbroken Mrs Smith.
My mother closed her mouth and awkwardly looked down.
I could tell she was pissed, right before she could rip a new one on my parents we heard footsteps rushing over.
It was grandpa Wilson. He came towards with his walking stick and a very red faced son. It seems he too was ripping new ones on his own children. He walked up to me and said.
"I'm sorry for what those worthless brats did to your wife. If I had known about all the inconveniences my family was putting on you and your wife I would have intervened earlier but it has all already happened and we can't cry over spilt milk. I'm asking not as an elder, your grandma's friend or a business but as a Grandfather that you please release your charges this once. Now that I know, I won't let them affect you. I just won't be able to sleep knowing my grandchildren are in jail." He pleaded on behalf of his family. I looked at him then asked.
"How am I expected to sleep peacefully knowing my wife was unjustly hurt and is in a hospital bed but the people responsible were left unpunished. I don't understand how you could come here and make this request when if it had been your own wife you would have had beaten the person to make such an outrageous request. "
Everyone looked down, unable to say any words knowing I had said the truth.
Grandma finally stopped being quiet and walked uo to me and Elder Thompson.
" My grandson is right. I wouldn't have been happy if he had agreed to your proposition. It's disrespectful to my family Wilson to come and make such a request. You and my late husband were friends for years. I know if he had been alive you would have never made such a request. Because we all know that there are consequences to our actions, our elders would have been embarrassed to hear your words especially to the current head of the Black family. This matter involves a young woman not chosen by me but by Geralt to be Alexander's wife. Just leave. Family only allowed." She said before turning around and going back to the room.
I've never been so proud of my grandma's ability to sand firm. I raised an eyebrow to them as I waited for the Thompsons to leave. I looked to my father and his face was red with anger.
"Just leave, you too are not needed here." I said to my parents before walking into my wife's room.
Emmet came later in the evening when grandma and Mrs Smith had left. We discussed work and the meeting i had had earlier in the day.
I spent the night in the hospital. Until next morning when I went back home to shower. I didn't leave Selene alone, I had her bodyguards wait outside her room. I instructed them that unless it's her doctor, specified nurses, grandma and Mrs Smith, no one else is allowed in.
All the meetings I had canceled yesterday had to be rescheduled, some of which I had today. I asked Emmet what's going on with the case.
