'Firstly, diamonds? What kind of nickname is that?' I asked myself, as the lady extended her notepad, about to speak. I fought the urge to turn back to know what would happen to the person who was caught.
I couldn't tell who the person was as the chains erupted amidst us and I was too busy running for my life.
'He's already gone. Why'd he even bring in a foreign object?' I sighed, assuming he was a male.
I turned my head back to the woman, paying attention to the words she spoke as others were awed at the entire premises. The building still stood extremely tall, effortlessly catching my attention.
'I'm sure you've all seen that skyscraper. That's your dormitory.' Immediately the lady uttered those words, everyone smiled in excitement.
'Dorm? So we're living here, huh?' Someone behind me—a young adult—retorted.
'Yes? You chose to see the dragon and you'll get what you asked for,' the lady replied.
She led us to its entrance; a tall automatic door that made us look like ants in comparison to its great height. It was metallic, polished, and shiny.
It chimed as it gradually opened and the woman led us all in.
'Woah!!' Some teenagers said, their eyes filled with excitement as they looked at the ceiling.
It was a large room with a considerable height explaining the tall door. The room was larger than anything I had seen, stretching out to all four corners of the building.
It was a waiting room, or at least it looked like one. There was a reception desk just in front but considering the room's size, walking to the receptionist's corner wouldn't be easy.
The floor was a warm bronze color, polished and greatly reflective while the walls were colored white. It was an unusual mix of colors.
'I guess it's time I leave. Head over to the receptionist's corner and she'll show you everything you need to know.' The lady walked away, her feet making sharp sounds as she walked to a room on her left.
I didn't know what room she had gone to, but I quickly diverted my attention, racing towards the receptionist's corner amidst about a hundred people, all young who were also making their way as well.
Halfway to the area, a few people began panting and took a rest while others such as I, filled with desperation, ran like unfueled cars.
Our gaits were unsteady, and I began staggering just before we reached the area.
'Welcome, how may I help you?' Her warm voice welcomed us as if we were conversant with each other.
She was dark-skinned and at the time, the dark tone reflected like the bronze floor beneath us. We stared at each other for a while until a teenager, around 12 years old, spoke up.
'Ma'am, where are our rooms.' His voice was filled with innocence as he exposed his white teeth to everyone.
'Oh!' she said, reaching down to the bottom cabinet of her desk and pulling out a large piece of paper. 'Currently, only two floors are available. That should be enough for all of you, right?'
'I guess yeah, but why are there are only two floors? I don't see any other person here and I don't suppose this is a public apartment,' I asked, smirking a bit while playing around with my dark hair.
She let out a chuckle, her white teeth being exposed, complementing her beauty even further. She raised her index finger and ran it around the paper which seemed to be a map.
'See this?' she pointed at a floor plan of the skyscraper, 'This is reserved for older people, in other words, hire-ups. Did you think you were the only ones here?'
Everyone looked amazed and even more excited as they glanced at each other and pushed themselves to the front of the group.
The idea of the academy was exciting enough but the existence of other people with similar interests to Dragons as mine fueled my joy even more.
I pulled back from the front of the group, hiding myself and taking advantage to scrutinize the entire room.
'Okay so everyone choose your rooms. There's not much here and every room is entirely the same with a bathroom, a kitchen, and a bedroom,' she continued.
Everything was new to me and the mystery of the previous people was rather frightening. I was still somewhat afraid of the gruesome training the man had mentioned as I desperately searched around for him.
But for now, everything seemed fine and refreshing.
Everyone chose their rooms, pointing at each one on the map and being assigned their room number by the receptionist. Earlier on, she had mentioned the similarities of the rooms so I didn't see the need of rushing to get mine first.
'This is mine!' ... 'Room 428'
'Here's the one I like!' ... 'Room 478'
'Mine' ... 'Room 417'
The voices kept going on until almost everyone had gone to their rooms. The space in front of me was cleared and so I stepped ahead, looking at the paper.
I saw multiple lines and rooms, but none had features listed. It proved the honesty of the woman and so I pointed at the room that had the best scenery.
It was surprising no one had taken it, or maybe I was the only one who planned on taking a look around. She responded to me, announcing my room number.
'Room 466' She gave me a key and a bunch of spare keys. I grabbed them and walked to the elevator.
As I approached the elevator, I rested on the wall. The pathway to the elevator was narrow but, surprisingly, wasn't a long walk. I was still tired and choosing the elevator was the best choice although it sacrificed my opportunity to look around—something the stairs would grant.
I stepped just in front of the elevator, and a voice responded. I couldn't ascertain its source as the sound echoed everywhere yet was soft.
[Unfortunately, you can't use the elevator at this moment]
